I mean, this really makes the Dunning deal a HR. I think the Rangers did fine in the deal too, Lynn didn’t make sense for them in their rebuild…but Lance Lynn was a Top 3 pitcher in the AL in the first half and seemingly took an undermarket extension to stay with the Sox. It’s a good day.8 points

The evidence that the players absolutely hate playing for Tony LaRussa just keeps piling up.7 points

Someone started the thread about TA adding power and he homered, so I figured I'd give this a try.5 points

I always felt 2/$40M was fair, so this with an option is unbelievable!!! @CaliSoxFanViaSWside - Now we don’t need to go all-in on the 2021 season ?4 points

Lucroy had a 680 OPS in AAA this year and was released by 3 major league teams. This guy isn’t a friggen starter gmafb3 points

I know it's only been a few games but Jesus christ it would he hard to trade burger. No baseball for three years, comes back and spits on MLB pitching. Amazing story,3 points

Lucas gets stopped from using spidertack after 2 years. A few games later switches from fastball-changeup to fastball-changeup-slider (maybe minor curveball?). All clean. Has one bad start, then destroys his next 2 opponents using that slider. Luca$ is back. I like Luca$ even more now. Go do this for the rest of your career dude. Buy yourself a trip to space when you retire.3 points

It's been an organizational issue for as long as I can remember. The Sox have cornered the market on baseball stupid for at least 20 years.3 points

This makes Lynn even better trade bait. Sell him off before the deadline.3 points

You'd be surprised, one of those guys turned into Tatis Jr once upon a time. But go on.3 points

The short term nature of this deal still leaves room for Rodon imo.3 points

I wonder if St. Louis would do TRL a solid and give Molina a chance at another playoff run, Good for everyone involved I would think. Last year's catching was one of our biggest strengths...now we look desperate.3 points

I don't there is a chance we trade Cespedes for Gallo.2 points

He should've waited for the game in Iowa and asked..."hey Tony....wanna have a catch?"2 points

Night and day difference between last year and this year with him. Next year or even later this year could also improve now that he knows what he's doing more than last year. You piece it all together start by start. Some starts you falter some you advance. All part of the learning curve. But I'll take 3 runs in 5.2 innings with 10K's , every game he pitches. IDK what that translates to in ERA or FIP or XFIP or whatever but that's him doing his job. If he win's or loses that's up to how the rest of the team does their jobs. Remember you may want to categorize it as mental focus but that's too easy. It's physical also. It's getting in enough reps and repeating your mechanics until it becomes 2nd nature and even then one little thing can throw you off from game to game.2 points

Soxtalk just announced that he has been designated for assignment to call up a new poster.2 points

He's forcing the players to sign against their will. It's worse than we thought. He's absolutely demonic.2 points

The point is teams do always want starting pitching. It might be expensive crap starting pitching to you but a guy who can make all his starts and have a 4.00 ERA in the AL is quite useful to a lot of teams and they will trade prospects or a near MLB player for him. It's not unheard of.2 points

As we know, this has been correlated to increased injury rate.2 points

Parkman just wants another rebuild. He walk backs his statements everytime he says it but that's really what he wants. He wanted both those pitchers gone and to waive the white flag on this year.2 points

Seems like a big risk to give up Cease and basically leave you an injury away from garbage next season…and Keuchel’s already on his last legs as it stands. JR is not one to get rid of the cost controlled player in favor of the much more expensive and fading veteran. Last time a similar move happened was Daniel Hudson for Edwin Jackson, or the Todd Ritchie deal. The other one, Bassitt and Montas hardly had any major league time. Crochet seems much more likely.2 points

I’ll be honest, the division is such garbage at this point that the day-to-day stuff doesn’t really matter all that much. We just need to keep our healthy players safe, get back our injured guys before the end of September, and fill our remaining holes before the deadline. I can care less if the Astros beat us up if the core guys are playing well (like Cease did last night) and if we’ll have Eloy, Robert, Grandal, a 2B, a reliever or two, and possibly a RF upgrade come October. Just keep pummeling the garbage team and lock in that playoff spot.2 points
