Lineup out, Eloy 4th and DH Was hoping he was 7th and LF to see you all rage5 points

But seriously, everyone here has seen Vaughn play defense. No one is solely relying on fangraphs to judge his defense though it’s always nice when stats back up your eyes. The fact is, even people that wanted nothing to do with him playing lf(myself included) will tell you he’s been much better out there than expected and he’s absolutely serviceable out there in his first year ever playing the position. You’re being stubborn just to be stubborn.5 points

Goodwin shouldn’t even be on the team and he definitely is not a center fielder! Is anyone besides me getting tired of watching Anderson stand st the plate spit and play with himself and then hit a bad pitch and jog half hearted down the line. If this jackass is the face of our franchise then we are in real trouble. At least Abreau hustles and sets a decent example. It makes me sick to think we let 3 all stars go to keep Anderson who is an absolute ass hole.4 points

Eloy as he steps up to the plate for the first time tonight........ MLB pitchers...... Our team........ Sox fans.......4 points

Do you remember how much Grandal was carrying the team before he got hurt? Also, batting average and extra base hits are made up stats as well. Somebody just made them up long before somebody made up wRC+.4 points

I'll take it. Cubs: Baez, Tepera Rockies: Givens, Story Marlins: Marte, Garcia4 points

Eloy first one back tomorrow....and we weathered the storm by going 19 over .500 and building a 9 game lead in the division. Let's do this shit4 points

I am wondering why we didn’t play Moncada at second and Burger at third. Moncada was our second base man for an entire year + .3 points

The fact that you called it a “hit and run” automatically means your opinion is worthless. I would have ran Engel there also. I said as much before the pitch.3 points

That guy has been so consistency wrong about everything involving Andrew Vaughn he frankly isn't even wroth conversing with.3 points

Defensive stats be damned. Bottom line is that Vaughn is slow at 24 years old and is not going to get any faster or taller. He has a large torso and a pretty large shoe size.. Irrelevant if he is at 1B or DH. As far as injuries. Vaughn almost mowed down TA on two or three plays where he ran toward him with about 100 choppy steps to catch a short fly ball. Schwarber posed a similar risk when he used to play left for the Cubs. The question of whether Eloy is a long term solution in LF is a separate issue. Arguing that Eloy or Vaughn is better or worse than the other at defense is a pretty lame way to justify that either one belongs out there long term. The issue that does warrant conversation is who gets to play every day, Abreu, Eloy or Vaughn once the Sox have better options in the outfield. I'd be happy with Abreu at 1B at Eloy at DH.3 points

I'm not pining for McCann, but Grandal has been a huge disappointment. Maybe I'm too old and stuck in the mud, but a .188 average with 17 total XBH on the season and brutal defense doesn't equate to some made up stat that says he's elite.3 points

You can’t pay McCann $40m to be the backup. It was never a realistic option.3 points

Did you all consider that maybe Hosmer Is actually the -best- player in the league? Did you?3 points

Take away one game from the reds last week and he is hitting .197 with 4 homers this year. (he had 3 hits and 2 homers that game). I know he is overcoming some injuries, but he is on a contract year and AWFUL so far. He would need quite a second half turnaround to make it worthwhile, and honestly he is looking like a 1 year prove it deal upcoming, which the Mets would most likely do. Will be interesting to see what he does the next 2 months.3 points

Honestly I don’t know the package or the desire but if semien is a possibility it should be all hands on deck. The offense would be incredible and buoy against slow returns from Eloy, Robert.2 points

Maybe it is me, but Vaughn has really been solid w the bat recently. I hate to see him move out of LF. When a young player is on a roll, don't upset their routine even if it is positional. Eloy can DH for a while to adjust to MLB pitching and I think AV at this point is at least equal( or plus) defensively to Eloy.2 points

Yeah that .200 BA and 1 rbi in the last 14 days mostly hitting cleanup. Gotta keep that garbage in the batting order.2 points

What this series has told me is that the trade for Lynn was a damn fine decision.2 points

You know Tony can just tell Hahn that they need a setup without potentially punting games right? These dudes aren’t 1st graders incapable of having a conversation.2 points

What this series is telling us is that the Sox are only a playoff team because the rest of the ALC isn't trying and the Twins pitching staff collapsed. What I keep seeing is that the Sox are not playoff caliber in any aspect of the game. Their offense isn't good enough, their SP are bum slayers and their bullpen is terrible outside of Hendriks/Kopech and sometimes Crochet, who is very hit or miss. I don't think that Eloy/Robert/Grandal will save them either.2 points
