I’ll be honest, I’ll be livid if we enter October with Leury as our starting 2B. That is 100% unacceptable for a team trying to win a World Series. If he gets injured then we’re starting Mendick everyday with Tim Beckham as our reserve infielder. At a bare minimum, we have to add another infielder to mix for depth purposes. Also, Fegan basically confirmed the Sox aren’t stretching out Kopech because he’s too important to the bullpen right now. It’s terrifying that we might compromise his ability to start next year because the rest of the pen underperformed. We better get two relievers between now and Friday and let Kopech make some starts down the stretch.

It's a buyer's market, particularly at 2B. The idea that the Sox "don't have the prospects" to acquire 2 months of a dirt-cheap Josh Harrison or Asdrubal Cabrera is asinine. These types of rentals never go for real prospects

I will be honest, if we got Hosmer and cut him the next day, I would be fine with it. If we got him and used him as a lefty bat off of the bench for a year or two, I'd be OK with that too. To me it isn't about Hosmer, it is about the guy we got for taking him on.

I would not offer Vaughn but assuming arguendo you had a deal = Trea for Vaughn. You then acquire Escobar or another rental for the balance of 2021 to play. 2B. in 2022 you either sign Trea for a few years or let him go to arbitration, but he is on the roster. Trea has played many games in CF and is one of the leagues fastest players. So you potentially have 4-5 outfielders - Cespedes, Colas, Robert and Eloy and Trea Plus you have Madrigal back at second base. If Rodon can be extended you are virtually guaranteed another play-off appearance.

Guess I am confused why Sheets would be any better than Goodwin? I am not saying I really favor one over the other but Sheets is hitting .185 for the month of July. His slugging is slightly better than Goodwin for July so his OPS is .737 and Goodwin's is .723. Not that I really like Goodwin in center field, but in a pinch he can play there so he does give you a little more versatility from a defensive standpoint. Like Burger I think it might be beneficial for Sheets to get consistent ABs in Charlotte. That said, if they keep Sheets when Robert comes back I would be ok with that too lol.

I think many people are underestimating the mental aspect of an injury like this. Rehab isn't just about getting your body right, it is about getting your mind right too.
