Dude is in his second full season. He's still learning at the big league level. He's made a lot of progress. It just takes time. It took Garland time.5 points
-
The lineup sucks, his velocity is down and the ump sucks. I beat everyone to it. Enjoy the game.5 points

This thread is bad. Tim Anderson is one of the best SS in baseball. The guy is a batting champion, yet we are going to talk about the ABS he "gives away"? Tim Anderson is a hitter. He's never going to be the guy to take pitches. Expecting that from from TA is just not understanding the type of player he is.5 points

While I agree, one thing Kimbrel hasn't done, is given up 11 (ELEVEN) Home Runs in 50 innings.4 points

They pulled a white sox and tried to rely on their awful pitcher who just choked the previous game3 points

It’s obviously a gigantic problem. And to state the absolute obvious…the lineups he’ll be facing in the playoffs aren’t the Royals and Twins. His act has grown incredibly old when he gives up gopher balls every fucking appearance. You want to get mad, Liam? Get mad about your blown saves.3 points

The hilarious thing about these threads is the only one who has the proper expectations for kimbrel in these threads is me, the guy who others are trying to educate about how good he is lol. My entire point about why the trade was dumb was relievers are volatile as hell and at the mercy of small sample swings. Now I'm being told it's fine that kimbrel has blown 2 games in 9 days lol because that just happens to relievers Uh, no shit. I said that.3 points

I also blame the Sox offense for being utterly inept tonight with RISP.3 points

This take is just bizarre. Dude is 25 years old and is currently 12th overall in fWAR amongst qualified starters, with a 3.36 FIP and a 66th percentile xwOBA behind it. Yes, not everything has clicked yet, but dude has taken a massive leap and is probably the best #4 starter in baseball. Of all the things to complain about, Dylan Cease shouldn’t be one of them.3 points

In terms of production, he has continued to make incremental improvements on an already high level/bar. I don't expect massive leaps from this level, but he is a 3-4 fWAR / season player, one of the best at his position. He has also had no significant or lengthy injuries, so there is a very good expectation he will age well during the rest of his contract, and that he can hopefully be renewed for a few more seasons when we get to 2023/2024. Beyond the quantitative aspects, his leadership is real and tangible. Has been a very strong leader for a few years (started in mid 20s), and players younger and older are inspired by him and his efforts to incorporate everyone into the team and to do their best. He is also a very important catalyst to the offense and infield defense. His absence has meant more to the overall record than the loss of any other player including all other top core members, including Jose who had a literal MVP season. 2020-2021 White Sox Record (based on player appearances in a game) .602 (41-27) Eloy Jimenez (Skewed by Eloy's injuries / small sample size. Over Eloy's 3 seasons, Tim (143-127 .530) is well ahead of Eloy (93-97 .489)) .592 (87-60) Tim Anderson .585 (103-73) Chicago White Sox (Sox have a similar winning percentage last year (.583) and this (.586)) .583 (91-65) Yoan Moncada .580 (98-71) Jose Abreu .578 (48-35) Nick Madrigal .571 (48-36) Luis Robert .560 (61-48) Yasmani Grandal - (The Sox are 42-25, or .627, in games Grandal has not appeared in)3 points

Tim Anderson is the best thing to happen to baseball and they don't market him nearly enough. They've started to, but they're not quite there.3 points

They had basically minor leaguers up after Judge and Gallo. Just stupid pitch selection this inning to go with Hendriks being a gas can.2 points

The kimbrel is great hendriks is trash stans are a weird group.2 points

Yeah, Kimbrel should be the closer. He is being used as a set up guy rn and it's not working, use him in save situations and I bet he will be much better than this idiot who gives up way too many HRs2 points

Stop acting like he’s some average closer, he was legit the best reliever in baseball when we acquired him and he has a HoF track record. No one gives a shit that he had a bad 1 1/2 year stretch, he’d get paid based on his projected future value. It’s very apparent you didn’t like the trade from a conceptual standpoint and are using any bad appearance by him to try to prove your point. You are better than this Ray. The dude would have gotten paid a lot more than 1/$16M this offseason if he were a free agent and it’s not even a debate.2 points

Bullpens are like underwear. A clean pair the next day loses any streaks. Come playoff time...would you want any other talent pool in MLB?2 points

It's one game and a loss means very little. Team is still great, but being critical of investing this type of capital in two post 32 year old relievers isn't doom and gloom, it's reality and there's a reason no other team has ever done it. Team still great. Bullpen still a huge concern come playoff time.2 points

Collins is easily one of the biggest disappointments of the last 10 years. Can't really hit and defense went from passable to bad before our eyes.2 points

If Tatis was on this team we might not have gone out and acquired this season's World Series hero, Cesar Hernandez....wait and see!!!2 points

I just watched the replay again with my five year old son. As soon as TA makes contact, my son starts cracking up and says, “That’s so funny. The catcher closes his glove every time like he’s catching the ball, but he’s not.” The random stuff that kids will say/notice always makes me laugh.2 points

Sadly, it will go down hill from here. Forget the quality of the game. The events surrounding the game will never be as good as the first one. Costner's entrance was dramatic but can't be recreated with the same affect. Seeing the stadium for the second, fifth, or tenth time won't be as emotional. Players in throwback uniforms. Quant after a while.2 points

It sure would be a darn shame if the Yankees miss the playoffs by 1 game.....a darn shame.2 points
