  1. Sox really need at least 3 out of 4 vs Oakland, probably need to sweep to be in a good position to win the division. Cleveland might get to .500 some day.

  3. Have lost two series each to the Twins and Royals, one to the Brewers and now this one to the Yankees since the break. Good thing they had three games against the Cubs. Fans are assuming the the division is won. I wouldn't assume that just yet.

  13. Tanner MacDougal had an immaculate inning (1ip, 3k, 9 pitches) in his professional debut today. Not bad for a high school draftee!

  14. It seems like this team really sucks at hitting with RISP, so I looked at the stats. For the season the Sox are actually 4th in MLB with RISP with a .267 AVG. Then I looked at the last 30 days and the Sox are 27th in MLB with a .231 AVG. Not sure if last 30 days is just an anomaly or a reason to be concerned but those are the numbers, and yes, I used AVG instead of OPS because with RISP you're really looking for hits and not quite as concerned about SLG.

  15. Vaughn hit a homer today lol. I get that this is a bit by you now, but its still really dumb.

  16. Vaughn - 8 Left on Base in the two losses to the Yankees. Somebody other than Eloy, Abreu or TA has to get it done when it's crunch time.

  17. In 2005 we had a 15 game lead at the all star break. Indians cut it to 1 game with 6 to play. Nothing is assured in this life.

  18. A team thisclose should have been far more aggressive at the trade deadline than they were. Imagine the Sox with Bryant and Votto. Not gonna happen with this ownership. The path to the World Series is going through the East. The Sox had to be constructed to deal with that reality.

  31. If we’re rooting for other teams not to make playoffs, then that’s all you have to say about the Sox. Teams should be worried about playing the Sox, but they don’t, because we’re a good team in a shit division. That’s it.

  35. That's it. This season is over. I don't think this team can survive 7 days without Leury Garcia.

  36. Obviously it’s not automatically dumb (buying high, selling low) if he’s the same 0.50 reliever he was with the Cubs. But the probability of changing roles seamlessly wasn’t that high. Kimbrel has been in a rhythm as a closer and that’s now disrupted, while Hendriks is naturally going to start hearing footsteps when there’s a potential HoFer getting paid even more than him on a yearly basis to close out games. Just as important is the opportunity cost impact of not having that extra money next year to add insurance (beyond Reynaldo) and to support the 7th inning (losing Tepera and then Kopech to starting, already lost Heuer.) Of course, Tepera was also a guy anyone in baseball could have picked up for “free” in November, 2019.

  37. Yeah. It’s always been dumb. Trading long term cheap control over a 3 war floor 2B for an over paid reliever is fucking dumb. Not to mention adding Heuer who had a decent chance to be close to as good as Kimbrel the next 18 months anyway, and a potential future closer. It was a bad trade and it will get worse. Would be nice if Kimbrel would stop giving up runs and at least do his part.

  39. Liam is a 1 pitch pitcher right now. He can't consistently throw the slider for a strike (or close enough for a swing and miss). His fastball has always been straight as a string. Hitters are just sitting dead red right now and crushing him. I think he'll figure it out. Personally I'd use him in a lower leverage spot to regain confidence, but it might feel like a demotion and TLR is loathe to do that to a veteran. Tonight, the minute Collins couldn't block the 2 strike slider in the dirt and allowed Gardner to reach 3rd we were in deep trouble. Liam scrapped the slider and went straight fastball (no pun intended). After the broken bat hit, Liam was toast mentally. The result was the mammoth shot by Gallo.

  40. You are right. Abreu had an unbelievable at bat in the9th. One of the best of anyone this season. It was a big shame that we couldn’t capitalize on it in the 10th. And it went to waste.

  41. Can't wait until balls and strikes, perhaps other aspects, are finally automated. With the White Sox' racial composition, this explains the consistent underperformance of White Sox calls on umpire scorecards. 42. I would have taken my chances with Leury in that spot. Seby is the worst hitter on the team by…..a lot. May be a better option than Collins vs LHP, but with Leury available that seemed like the best play. Oh well. Not exactly a bunch of good options.

  43. We're going to wish we could go back to that 2018 draft and take someone like Logan Gilbert instead. Especially when the 2023 season rolls around and we're looking for another second baseman.

  44. I do seem to recall Liam blowing a save before he went on that ridiculous run in May and he said he went over to watch video and picked up on something, maybe it was pitch selection, and made an adjustment. Perhaps something that might do the trick here.
