I blame @maloney.adam for starting the original game thread5 points

Seems possible, but if he was using sticky stuff he probably would have been pitching better. He didn't have great control. However, it's an intriguing thought. And maybe, just maybe, they had a back-up plan where Hendriks would come barreling out of the bullpen with no shirt on screaming, "Crikey it's hot as a shrimp on the barbie out here!" Then he would start hopping around like a kangaroo yelling, "I'm batshit crazy!" In the ensuing madness, the belt could be hidden from the umpires.5 points

Its a good plan. The players' salaries are way too high to begin with.5 points

lol this shit is hilarious. yes, the owners should make more money and the workers, who are the reason the product even exists and is viewed, should make less! Hip hip, hooray. Green Line goes to the games to watch the owners box. fascinating stuff going on up there.3 points

If the Sox can't sweep Oakland at home, that probably means a one and done in the playoffs, if they even make it that far. Only a 12 game lead.3 points

Some Facts: - Both sides are trying to win, but there's a good side (the players) and a bad side (the owners). Get with the good side. -Minor leaguers are the most criminally abused workers. Any sort of discussion needs to start with revamping the minor league system. -I would think a Salary floor is a big DUH with what we've seen. Teams tanking so hard and putting sub 50 mil payrolls out there. Even a team like the Rays who succeed and have a payroll at 44 mil need to be better. Their fans deserve better, even if their organization is run well. They don't deserve to keep losing their stars and home grown talent. Pony up the money, losers! -Salary cap? I'd imagine this is the owners way of forcing top salaries down. IDK if a cap is really needed. But 180 is way too low. Go for 220.3 points

Nope, but it goes both ways. Both sides are trying to screw the other side out of money. So, you still lead the league in cynicism.3 points

Fuck the astros, fuck the umps, and fuck the Twins of course.3 points

Cesar with another horrible game. Happening way too often.2 points

He seems to now be a prime candidate for mailing it in after the contract extension. Talk about Vaughn 2 out RISP but Moncada has hit middle order all season and has no power or ability to drive in a run. He also can't play 2B so we were hamstrung when Madrigal went down yet Vaughn can play anywhere with a fraction of the athletic ability. Starting to almost hate Moncada.2 points

Especially since his power is mediocre and he’s a non-factor stealing bases. As someone said, not exactly the profile you want to pay 24 million for2 points

Starting to worry about 2023 $17,000,000 and 2024 $24,000,000 numbers on Moncada2 points

Maybe I am just on Team Cynical, but I don't think a salary floor will do all that much to stop tanking. I think what it will do, especially in combination with a hard cap, is make salary dump trades much more common. Tanking teams still want the draft picks/high slot money, and they will happily take on terrible contracts from contending teams if they get some good prospects too. The big contracts bring them up to the floor, they improve their farm, and the contending team frees up cap space to go get someone else.2 points

In fegan's update he quoted Lynn as saying "You will see me in 5 days". he is fine.2 points

It's right next to the rule about not swinging 3-0 when a position player is pitching.2 points

They're not written anywhere, you're just supposed to instinctively know the rules and you'll be thoroughly roasted when you break them, justifiably so, it's pretty fucked up not just automatically getting it. It is surprising how infrequently this happens, I think people are gun-shy about making them.2 points

No just the millionaires. It's a union negotiation just like any other. It's amazing how many people think it's only the owners just to get something from the union. The union is trying to do the exact same thing. That's the essence of bargaining unit negotiations.2 points

I like a 100 million salary floor. It'll instantly make teams more competitive. make tanking much harder.2 points

No big deal if the umps would have taken the belt....they could've just had Mendick climb through the ceiling tiles and switch belts in the umpire room. Test it again, there is nothing wrong with that belt!!!2 points
