Every time Seby does something well I picture Collins doing the Homer Simpson into the bushes.4 points

They were acquired after being released? Do you expect them to hit .400 with 40 homers?4 points

We made it to the game driving 84 miles from Punta Gorda and yes I was pissed. TLR and I are just about the same age and pretty sure I have more on the ball than he does. I was a good friend of Jimmy Piersall back in his broadcasting days with the Sox and he hated TLR, I can only imagine what he'd be saying about him now.3 points

Sox score 2 runs to make it 4-6. La Russa is like "nah lets leave our career minor leaguer out there to give those runs right back. We can't comeback here".3 points

This is ridiculous...Ozzie for example would have never played a guy in CF who had no business being there ?3 points

I do understand resting your players...why does one of the oldest guys on the team not seem to have any days off...Abreu.3 points

Rays announcers roasting TLR for not having TA in the lineup today with a sinker baller like Keuchel on the mound. They say TA would have made 2 plays missed by Mendick who has poor range. They said smart move would have been to rest TA tomorrow instead. I agree.3 points

The only pennant race left for us is the fight for home field advantage in the playoffs. We need to catch Tampa Bay in order to get that advantage. We should have our A lineup going all three games this weekend, no excuses. Give whomever rest days when the team is in Toronto.3 points

It will be so huge going forward if we have the ability to plug holes in Chicago from inside the organization instead of having to sign free agents. For example replacing Leury with Romy??3 points

The thing is last night, his bad inning consisted of walking someone. He gave up no hits. He struck a guy out. It is really bizarre, but Soxtalk expects relievers to not only have 0.00 ERAS, but 0.00 WHIPs as well, or you just suck. I liked Madrigal more than most and really think years from now many will be saying it would be awesome if he was on the team, but Kimbrel was the best available by far.3 points

Exactly. Let's be real clear here, Tony pissed his pants and fretted about inserting himself into the game and putting in a LOOGY, consistent with his platoon obsessions on both sides of the ball. He walked one of three batters, retired the other two batters. He just gained big momentum striking out the last batter he was allowed to face. he has a 1.22 ERA. Tony doesn't go with the 1.22 ERA guy, he goes with the left hander with a 3.88 ERA (its 4.22 now, and the inherited runner of course scored as well). There are ZERO consequences for when Tony fails to perform, over and over and over again.3 points

I mean, he got 2 outs before he got pulled. Yes he needs to be better than that, but he didn’t get the chance to lose the game. He loses the game, fine he got beat again. Give him the chance to at least win or lose. He’s a big boy.3 points

Well they’ve punted like their 4th game since the break. Keuchel is just awful though2 points

Sounds like it...not just him, why the hell is Robert getting a day off lol?2 points

I'm not even pitching Keuchel in the rotation come playoff time no matter how much experience he has. He has been that bad this season.2 points

How can you possibly think a team's medical staff could possibly know better or have more information than fans on a message board lol?2 points

I just want to say I want the Yankees to miss the playoffs. Not because of them beating the Sox but to see that fanbase cry and cry in October2 points

Anderson hasn't had a day off since Thursday, he's gotta get another breather. Two baseball games in a row is really hard on the body.2 points

Um...why is TA off again? And yet Hernandez still hasn't had a single day off? Goodness.2 points

That’s a terrible take. Are there no other pitchers this year who have been annoyed about being taken out? Did Lance Lynn get that lecture earlier this week about being more concerned with his own ego than anything else? I want a guy who says “f*** this team, I walked a guy, the rest of these guys are dead meat, let me do my job”.2 points

Another big positive is Crochet is looking a lot like his 2020 version lately.2 points

You can laugh all you want but your post exposed you. You wouldn’t have the hate for Madrigal if he was drafted lower.Maybe he won’t have the impact yuowish a #4 draft pick overall, that remains to be seen , but he was a pretty good player. 1,4 fWAR in 54 games is a 4 win player, playing for minimum. So the Sox didn’t think he was good enough and have been desperately trying to trade him for a while. Finally they found a sucker to take him off their hands, and they picked up a guy who will have half the fWAR and they only have to pay him 10 times what they paid Madrigal to play second. Makes a lot sense. Has to be true.2 points

Coming through in a critical/important situation. Like Tim's homer last night and at Field of Dreams2 points
-
I am sure if they had been trying to trade him some team would have taken him off their hands long before they got Kimbrel. That is just BS. I don’t know what it says about Crochet because apparently the Cubs had their choice between the 2 and took Madrigal. Paying Hernandez 10 times more than him for not a better performance, seems a pretty poor plan. You can’t seem to separate Madrigal the player vs. Madrigal the #4 overall pick ahead of Kelenic, and it makes you write things that make no sense.2 points

Tim didn't just save the game. He also saved Maloney's gamethread career. Can you imagine the scene if, not only had we lost today, but lost after blowing another sizable lead late? No wonder he hasn't been around the winner thread yet, dude probably entered into witness protection in the bottom of the eighth.2 points

Thrilled we won and TA really was the man tonight. That said, the entire 8th was bizarre. Kimbrel got totally squeezed on the leadoff walk. That got into his head. He then was in position to get out of it. TLR made the decision he would prefer Bummer vs. Arrozarena instead of Kimbrel vs. Lowe. Really?!?! And all the righties after him? Real head scratcher to take out the guy you traded for to use in that situation.2 points
-
Kimbrel will be fine. He likely would have worked his way out of the jam. He also was stiffed on a few close calls in that first at bat. Reading about Kimbrel. He's a creature of habit. He thrives on routines. And he's likely now getting used to that routine of the 8th inning. I would rather he learn to get used to it now than in the postseason. I would give him a few opportunities to close.2 points
-
I will not criticize TLR anymore on this game. However, I will recommend that he be given an Ambien before the game tomorrow, to help him nap and not make stupid decisions. Let the bench coach manage the game.2 points
-
The reason he got the 8th is because of his historical performance. With the Sox he has pitched 8 innings and given up 5 runs. He did nothing that inning to make anyone belive that all of a sudden he has found his form as a great set up man. He has done nothing for the Sox to earn a long rope, he literally is getting chances because of his play for other teams. He deserved a short rope and yeah its shitty for the Sox because not only do they need him to be good, they also can't kill his trade value for next year. But this was a game you have to win and I can understand thinking Kimbrel wasn't the choice.2 points

I want my high OBP guys in the first two slots with my best hitter batting 3rd. Ideally, the lead-off man has speed and the 2nd in the lineup takes lots of pitches. Using those criteria my first four in the lineup would be Robert...Grandal...Jimenez...Abreu I like Anderson a lot but a leadoff hitter needs to take some pitches and get some walks IMO. Abreu is a great RBI man but hits into a ton of DP's taking the bat out of Eloy's hands frequently. Anderson, Moncada, Vaughn, Hernandez, and Engel complete my everyday lineup in no particular order.2 points

I thought he was going to be an elite bullpen guy. Sad to see the injuries do him like that.2 points

A shame that injuries screwed him up, I always thought that he could have really been a great closer.2 points
