  1. Really wish they’d stop resting multiple main starters on the same day. If they want to take the foot completely off the gas pedal, there are better ways to do it than all these garbage Sunday lineups on the last day of a series.

  3. You want me to believe that TLR has more detailed information about his pitching staff than the message board managers? Relief pitcher does well: Great job <insert relief pitcher's name>! Relief pitcher does poorly: TLR is a f'in idiot!

  4. Good Tony: TLR seems to still be able to understand a clubhouse. He leverages the veterans. Smart He is overly dependent on the lefty/righty matchups when making a lineup but but his lineups usually do make some sense. He uses his bench more than fans want but come playoff times he hasn’t ran his team into the ground. Also smart. Bad Tony: For the love of god I have never imagined he would be this horrific, awful, terrible and embarrassingly bad at in-game decisions especially about his bullpen/ pitching staff. He literally makes two or three unacceptable decisions a week. He is not fit to be a manager. Ricky was better than Tony with the bullpen, and I can’t imagine a worse criticism towards a manager. (Tony is still way better than Terry Bevington)

  5. Fuck that. MLB does not need to be watering down the talent pool more than it already does.

  6. 25 years of interleague. Sox are 35-32 in both parks.

  7. Showing up the ump all game…Patrick Wisdom sure is acting like he’s been a big hitter for a long time when he hasn’t…

  8. At every point in Luis Robert's development there's a period where he briefly struggles and then gets locked in and starts destroying that level's pitching. Seems like he's there with MLB now but there is no higher level for him to get promoted to now.

  9. Cease now tied for 10th in fWAR amongst SPs in all of baseball

  10. It's pretty clear at this point that the Sox have decided that keeping players rested and healthy is 100% the priority over chasing home field, so as long as the lead over Cleveland hangs around the 10 game mark we're going to continue to see these lineups. Expect the full 'A' lineup only about twice per week. Honestly, on any day that Lynn/Rodon/Giolito/Cease are pitching, my #1 concern is their health and how they look and any other performance is secondary. We'll find out in October whether or not this was the best plan. If the Sox lose game 5 of the ALDS at Houston there will be lots of second guessing.

  11. Far too often we see backseat managers on here that think they can manage the team better than TLR. Despite not knowing the inner workings of the team or how players are feeling, they think they know what is best for the team. The Sox have been decimated by injuries, but the team has still performed damn well. Tony gets a lot of unnecessary hate on here. It's time he gets some appreciation for how well the team has performed in the face of great adversity. The players also seem to love and respect him.

  12. Thats good because they were breathing down our necks. anyway, the relaxed manner the Sox have played with lately, maybe we should be rooting for Cleveland these days.

  13. Fans come to see the team win. The griping about the team keeping guys as fresh and uninjured as possible is just nuts. There is no challenge to the Sox in the division . Get Kimbrel right and this team is going far, fresh , healthy and firing on all cylinders.

  14. Someone check on what Dan Bernstein thinks of Dylan Cease now.

  15. Sox are getting the same production from Goodwin that they would have had with Joc Pederson. And they gert to keep Cease.

  16. He HAS to figure out how to stay in the line up 150 times a year. If he can do that regularly, he will be an MVP type player.

  25. I get the rationale they have with the post season. But there are fans paying to see these guys play. It's been how many years since they've fielded a truly professional team? I'd be pissed if I was going to the game today

  26. You have to be either on the active roster or on the IL on 8/31 to be eligible for the playoffs, so if they are deciding between Lamb and Sheets for a lefty bat, they have to decide soon.

  32. Gavin Sheets. Punt Jake Lamb into the sun if we have to. Gavin should either be added as the call-up, or take Lamb's position outright to allow them to bring someone else up.

  34. Second time the Sox were shut out in recent weeks to go along with two one-run games in Toronto. It is concerning that this offense can go so dormant. It is also concerning if the Sox lose this series to the pathetic Cubs.

  35. I recall reading a recent article about Heuer where he talked about how he was impressed with the technology that Cubs had for pitchers, as if it was a vast difference to what was available with the Sox. I wonder if Kimbrel is going through an adjustment not having the same type of resources available to him right now. Possibly something that helped him with his turnaround this season.

  36. I would have picked 90% with the current knowledge, but I would strongly support that effort. It should be treated like the measles vaccine and mandatory, but well, you know.

  37. He should have gone back to the plate right away as it was clear Lynn was getting to the ball. He stood motionless in no man’s land. Not productive.

  38. Sad part was that we didn’t really need another closer, just stay pat and keep cheaper, younger Heuer and contact hitter first rounder Madrigal. Or use those resources to get a good corner outfielder that we really needed.

  39. Would like to see some hit and runs to try staying away from double plays, particularly from Abreu and Vaughn. DPs have been rally killers for the Sox this season.

  40. Agreed, obviously disappointed with Lynn but much more disappointed in the lifeless, lackluster performance of our batters.

  44. I took a quick look at Kimbrel's release point yesterday compared to his release point in the 2 games in Toronto. He was all over the place last night with it. Usually his fastball release point is very consistent, even when he's off, but his release point yesterday had about a nearly 9 inch deviation from lowest to highest release point. His curve release point was a little off too, as usually they're clumped but it looked like he was throwing 2 different types of curves with 2 totally different release points.
