Its a defense mechanism. This way, if they do lose, he can a minor positive neural response thinking he was right. It will ease his disappointment.4 points

There is only one answer to this question, and of course it's "who knows?" That's the beauty of sports. If we knew what was going to happen in the playoffs, what's the point? However....people have a right to feel anyway they want. And as Ribbie said earlier, there are people that love to play the negative card just so they don't get hurt down the line. The problem with that, in my opinion, is it goes against the whole idea of rooting for a sports team. Part of the draw is the uncertainty. You watch because you don't know what you're going to see that night. Is my team going to get shut out? Are they going to hit 6 HR's? A no-hitter? A walk-off? I know for myself, I can't watch a game from yesterday on tape, even if I don't know the outcome. The feeling that it isn't live just wrecks it for me. Anyway, the other point to this being a fan of this specific White Sox team. None of us know how the next 3-4 years are going to go.....but there is enough MLB history on our side to tell us right now is the "come up" which can be the most fun you ever have as a fan. This is the time when your team really arrives on the scene. When all the crap seasons of a rebuild start to pay off, and you see the fruits of those efforts come alive. They have the third-best winning percentage in the AL, have run away with their own division and have a young, incredibly likeable core that's locked up for the foreseeable future. If you want to make the effort to come to a White Sox message board when the team is 79-58 and tell people you only think they'll win one game in the playoffs....that's your call. I just don't really see the point. Then why watch? What are you doing with your time? What's the point in rooting for a team? This will be the FIRST TIME IN FRANCHISE HISTORY THE SOX MAKE THE PLAYOFFS IN BACK TO BACK SEASONS. If you're a Sox fan, I just can't grasp not being at least hopeful for what's to come. But to each their own.3 points

Shit he brought in a loose analogy to a team from 21 years ago but called it facts so he wins and we all have to go home.3 points

Kelenic is only 1 for 3 vs. Ray, so pretty impossible for mere mortals to hit.3 points

Lynn is overweight, and tired. He is a notorious bad finisher. Our season is done as his talents have peaked already.3 points

What? Moncada is extremely tough. Abreu flops around the field every time he gets hit by the ball.2 points

I don’t think the MRI revealed anything crazy. He also didn’t have a sudden injury and have to get carried off the field. I’m guessing they are being ultra conservative with this. If he comes back and re-aggravates it, he’d be out of the playoffs with only a few regular season weeks left. Playoffs without TA would be the worst. I know you’re thinking the same, and that’s causing your unsettling feeling.2 points

I agree. Engel is a much more important piece of the team puzzle than some people realize IMO. It will be good to get him back.2 points

The White Sox will be doomed going into October. They don't have a true closer - just a fat, overweight minor league reject after the international star fizzled out. Our homegrown star left. The truly big, big power bat we need is injured and we don't have a real DH. The rotation is smoke and mirrors, because we're vulnerable and only have 4 starters - a soft tossing lefty, a Yankees' reject riding a hot streak, a sweaty trade acquisition, and a bum from the Cubs. You know how they're bums? They can't hold a 15 game lead against the Indians. These are facts don't @ me2 points

Is there any way to fend this off, then? Or are we all passengers on a derailing train just quietly waiting for our car's dive into the ravine thinking "we shoulda believed that guy last month"?2 points

2021 Keuchel: 2020 Keuchel: The biggest difference I see is that his cutter is now terrible. He was mostly throwing it low and in to hitters last year. It's far more off the plate this year and up. High cutters get destroyed. And if it's too far inside, righties won't swing at it. He was in a good place with it last year, but now it's a meat pitch. It's so terrible that he throws it 5% less now. His cutter was his best pitch by run value last year at +10. It's now his second worst (next to the sinker) at -9. That's almost a 20 run difference in the span of a year. His slider is also far more inconsistent this year, which is a big reason why his number vs. lefties are terrible. It seems like he only throws his sinker and change up in almost one spot as well, which kind of goes back to the idea that he's been nibbling since he's afraid of those 2 pitches getting hit hard if they are anywhere near the middle of the plate (and they have been). I think the fact that he can't use his cutter anymore as a consistent out-pitch has decreased the effectiveness of his change up and sinker. His control on the cutter has been bad all year with the exception of a few starts. When he's had good cutter command, he's been able to post good starts vs. good offenses like Cincinnati, Tampa, and Toronto. When he hasn't had it...well you've seen how the last 3 starts went.2 points

Well considering that Covid is so easy to get over and is less impactful than the flu to the anti-vax crowd. How about this. Let's just have them sign a waiver. If you get covid and need emergency procedures to save your life, you get a lovely flower arrangement and get sent home. Take all of the dewormer you want, take all of the other nonsense witch doctor shit that is being peddled. My wife had to wait 24 hours last week to get admitted to a hospital for something serious because of the mouth breathers and their 3rd-grade version of science. I don't need family members dying because the ER is filled with morons who go oh, yeah I can't breathe. Well, this isn't what I signed up for. I am a strong republican. The anti-vaxxers can all go fuck themselves. Maybe we can have Polio come back because the human body's defense systems are so good. We are at a point in evolution where we can do amazing things to save lives due to science. But the human condition is the one aspect that will even that out.2 points

I mean laugh it up I guess, stupid anon ass rating system, but Stone poney doesn't even want to broadcast games and Jason is well, moonlighting on national gigs about 1/2 the games here in the 2nd half.1 point

i'm loathe to defend JR but I get the feeling despite protests otherwise both Jason and Stone are just fine with broacasting from home. In fact, I think Jason has eyes on leaving the Sox as soon as next year for an bigger profile gig.1 point
