Between the Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays and Astros…the only team we might be able to beat right now would be the Rays. No confidence in either Kimbrel or TLR. Grandal has been great offensively but he will invariably let something bad happen on the defensive side to mess everything up. We really need Anderson’s fire back leading this team. Getting swept out of the playoffs feels just as likely as advancing to the ALCS. Just haven’t even felt excited for most Sox games these last six weeks unless we were playing an opponent outside the Central.4 points

I hate this goddamn team. Bunch of gutless cowards, led by a fossilized buffoon.4 points

Well, this lackadaisical approach to running through the end of the season has made the Sox a pretty tedious watch, in general. I actually don't sit and watch them much because it aggravates me. Yeah, resting, games don't matter, yadda, yadda - the age-old back and forth on which is the better approach. But if getting hot in the playoffs is what matters, it's becoming harder and harder for me to watch this team and envision anything 'hot' turning on for the post-season in a few weeks time. Cease buried the team tonight - they fought back, but great - we end up with Wright in the 10th? Say what? That's when I figure that the manager doesn't want to win this one, for whatever "Hall of Fame Manager" reason, then great - damned if I'm going to care any more - I flipped it off, knowing the outcome was inevitable. The Sox need to tighten up, start looking like their head is in it, well before the playoffs, so they have a chance to ramp up to post-season form. Thank God their division is so god-awful!3 points

I’d rather see Billy in the lineup over Goodwin for his defense. Hell Sheets plays better D than Brian.3 points

So everyone remember the part where Hamilton was used for a 1 inning replacement in the 8th and then Tony said “oops” and used Sheets in the 9th? Woulda been nice to not do that.2 points

If Vaughn is so badly hurt he can’t take that at bat against a lefty, why isn’t he on the IL with Burger up?2 points
-
The difference is they will fire Tingler and try to bring in Francona, Bochy, etc.…whereas the White Sox losing to Houston won’t even out a dent in LaRussa’s protective armor.2 points
-
This “oh the guy is too hurt to play but not hurt enough for the IL” crap just lost tonight’s game.2 points
-
There are quite a few players on this team that fall into the category. This team is not built for an extended playoff run. The 2005 team won these games.2 points

Another day illustrating how much a disaster the deadline was. Cesar is absolutely useless and Kimbrel sucks2 points

Thanks for punting the game, and along with the abomination of a lineup coming tomorrow, woo whee.2 points

It is. But he's still doing great things with his glove. As an everday player Leury is exposed. As a utility man, he's one of the best in the business and essential part of any team.2 points
-
He was unhittable and just lost it. Cease needs to pitch more than 2.2 innings. To b**** about LaRussa is foolish2 points

I'll be at the game tonight. My first home White Sox game! I'm pretty pumped, let's get this W.2 points

Win the series today! Make their sox red because of the beating we put on them! Did I forget F-Boston? Bill Belichik is a scumbag.2 points

I honestly think its CRAZY that Abreu is leading. I could probably put 4 players easily ahead of him (Lynn, Rodon, Hendriks, Anderson). You could even make a case for Moncada without too much effort too.2 points
-
Availability is key for me. Abreu has taken a beating all season, he answers the bell every time. That's an MVP for me.2 points
-
It's Abreu, and I don't think it is particularly close. The only other guy with a real case is TA, and he has just missed too many games.2 points

Was at the game and it was a blast but man, almost 4 hours to play 8 and a half innings in a game where there wasn’t a ton of scoring or hitting? Yikes.1 point

Instead of bitching about the rain let’s bask in the sun which was Rodon throwing bulldog gas again.1 point

5-way tie for the two wildcard spots if Saturday and Sunday go: Red Sox 0-2; Yankees 1-1; Blue Jays 2-1; Mariners 2-0; A’s 2-0 Go White Sox!1 point

I had fun watching them win. Felt like a playoff game. Nail biters count too.1 point

We don’t play small ball. Swinging for the fences and not getting homers does not provide good outcomes. It is feast or famine.1 point

So seeing another doom and gloom fear thread back to back makes it obvious someone really, really needs attention, so instead of quoting, he is the other side of the coin. Lance Lynn on the IL, -> coming back this weekend Lucas Giolito. -> Coming back this weekend Carlos Rodon. Coming back tomorrow Dallas Keukel (sic) . Looked better until late last night. Don't let him working too late in the regular season when the team is missing most of the starting rotation turn you into expecting him to work late in the playoffs. The pen will be used A LOT more then. Also, try copy and paste if you are a Sox fan and don't know how to spell the names of the players of your own team. Cease --- Cease doesn't need any explanation. Michael Kopech Has been bad lately, but hasn't suffered a velocity loss. Odds are he is probably tipping something or falling into a pattern. I'd be a lot more worried if he was missing velocity or stuff. This team also has a LOT more pitchers int he pen, other than Kopech. I wonder why those guys weren't listed? Oh wait, that wouldn't generate attention for the OP.1 point

Taylor Trammell has out produced Kelenic on his own team. .160/.256/.615 with 8 homers in 178 PA vs. .160/.239/.523 with 8 homers in 253 PA This is now the Taylor Trammell thread.1 point

He needs an “IL” stint to reset after Anderson comes back. Give him a few days off. He’s been very bad the last 3 weeks.1 point

They clearly should overrreact to a guy who has made an incredible leap this year, and never played nearly as much as he has played this year in his life by sending him to rookie ball because he hasn't hit with RISP and two outs. Because we all know that the way to hit major league sliders is more batting practice, in rookie ball. Instant gratification much?1 point
-
You do nothing. You use your 1,000 years of managing experience with cases similar to this and try to snap him out of it. He's a rookie and been a key part to this team. He hasn't been ideal with RISP, but this is not the time to make any changes. If he still can't get a hit with RISP and its now October? Then bring in a pinch hitter if it's necessary.1 point
