The 1994 White Sox and Expos walk out of the corn to play the 7 game series we missed.9 points

Andrew Vaughn is unplayable right now full time. His playoff role should be DH against lefties and pinch hitter against lefties. Engel gets RF because is bat is decent now and he has elite defense with good speed. Sheets should get the DH spot versus righties.6 points

This is not true. Plenty of young and healthy people have had COVID. Although most young and/or healthy people who catch COVID recover well, they are as much at risk of catching it. Don't forget that cases jumped again once the mask mandate was lifted "for vaccinated people only". Everyone knew that meant no masks for anyone because who was going to police mask-wearing for unvaccinated people? No one was going to ask anyone else if they were vaccinated. The vast majority of new COVID cases are in unvaccinated people. Most hospitalizations and deaths are in the unvaccinated population. So, no, cases aren't spiking because people are getting vaccinated. Cases are rising because people, all people, stopped wearing masks and there's still a stubborn, selfish percent of the population who refuse to get vaccinated. If everyone got vaccinated, COVID wouldn't be eradicated, but it would be affecting very few people. And those it affected would have mild symptoms (at worst) and not end up in the hospital. But not everyone will get vaccinated because of dumbass conspiracy theorists and the sheep that believe them.4 points

Agreed. Let get it rolling. Although I do need one more regular season win to win the over 91.5 bet I made before the season.3 points

How this man and Bruce still get paid to cover baseball, I will never know. Like...Fegan would have never gotten a shot if The Athletic hadn't exploded, because places want to pay people like them.3 points

Yes, there was no reason for an intentional HBP, because it wasn't intentional. Ohtani was intentional, which is why Tony and Wright were suspended. Yermin was intentional beaned by the Twins. Tony celebrated it, condoned it, embraced it. Karinchak didn't intentionally hit Abreu. Tony intentionally attacked an opposing player. Tony would have stepped on Abreu to get to Perez if Abreu's body was in the way of his direct path to physically attack Perez. In terms of Tony LaRouche devotee ThirdGen, Tony lied about a lifetime of steroid user before, during and AFTER he left the Cardinals, hired the disgraceful lifelong cheater player after his playing career was over onto his crony staff carousel. Also, Jack McDowell is far more credible than Mark McGwire and his MLB career enabler.3 points
-
For starters, he shouldn't have installed the scoreboard camera. Nobody forced him to lie about McGwire's use, or embrace him and hire him in his traveling crony hiring crew. And he has zero credibility regarding beanballs, as a lifelong proponent of this, and actually condoning the hitting of his own player earlier this year for the violation of the only thing Tony is cognizant of these days, the "unwritten rules", Also doesn't go out to check on the players he actually gives a shit about getting hit, runs right past them to shove an opposing player or yell at the umpire about more unwritten rules bullshit. He needs to slither away this offseason.3 points

According to Reddit, there's an incredibly thin chance the 'Stros miss the playoffs. Astros lose out (4 games) Mariners win out (3 games) Boston wins out (4 games) WC #2 Yankees win out (4 games) WC #1 Mariners win (163 play-in game) AL West. In the chaosball scenario, the Sox are 3-3 against the Mariners and outscored them 32-29. They actually won the series in Seattle, Mariners won the series in Chicago. ROOT FOR CHAOS.3 points

He didn't mention a lot of things. Although having gone to four games this season I would say it was super affordable2 points

MLB knows a little more than you do, and determined Tony's suspension this month, and Tyler Duffy and Rocco Baldelli's suspensions in May. There was absolutely no legitimate reason to throw at Yermin. He did nothing to harm or injure a Twin. It was solely on the basis of the neanderthal code La Russa embraces more than the actual MLB rules, or the team he is hired to manage. It was absolutely pathetic that La Russa not only did not attempt to protect his player, but actually condoned Yermin being hit, and then denigrated him for a week. Again, LaRussa embraced and lied on behalf of the disgraced cheater years after both were out of the Cardinals organization. He didn't have to call him out, just say no comment instead of lying about his taking "yeast" and saying PEDs were for a short period for his injured heal, when McGwire took PEDs his entire career. These comments were made a few years ago, not in the 1980s, not in the 1990s, not in the 2000s. Then again, La Russa is infamous for his revolting comments over the past decade.2 points

Yes. In reality Cesar shouldn’t even be on this team he’s been replacement level since the trade.2 points

I'll take a .953 OPS against LHP and .916 OPS against RHP from our two rookies.2 points

I think in Houston we are going to have to out hit Houston. Hard to hold that lineup down offensively. I think Cesar's glove is over rated at this point. He hasn't been that good. He's looked lost at times, can't get the ball out of his glove a few times that cost a DP, didn't cover 2nd on a potential DP and that's just stuff I can remember from the past week+.2 points

That lineup (with Leury in for Cesar) has so much drip.2 points

I know it hasn't been there for us, but I like the potential for more pop from Cesar in the lineup. I'm fine with him batting 9th. I prefer Leury as a super-sub off the bench.2 points

I don't care what anyone says, it is better that the team is ending the season on a good note. The playoffs are a new game, but I'd rather see the Sox playing like this than what they did in Detroit last week.2 points

The Delta Variant was first identified in India in December of 2020. It is incredibly impressive that the vaccines were able to trigger the formation of a new variant before virtually any of them were deployed, and certainly not in India.2 points

Frank Thomas is arguably the greatest right handed hitter the game has ever seen. Saying if Robert is healthy he'll surpass Frank's offensive numbers is quite the reach. Agree that from a complete player standpoint he has a chance to be the best to put on a Sox uniform, but him being better than Frank offensively for his career is probably about 1%.2 points

I've said all along, the advantage of having the huge lead was that they could rest players while most other teams were still wearing down the players. Now when all the other are resting their players, the Sox are gearing up and trying to go into the playoffs on a hot streak. Now, it guarantees nothing but it's preferable to having worn down players.1 point

Yea. If Engel is healthy I’d seriously consider giving him all of AV’s playing time. All of it.1 point
-
His velocity being waaaay down is still a huge concern, but the results were great. Wondering how much he can get away with similar stuff vs that Houston lineup. If he can get by, Rodon > Kopech > back end of the bullpen is a great looking formula.1 point

Rules don’t always have to make sense when they’re collectively bargained, they are written to be acceptable to both sides. If TA did bump an ump in there, I can’t complain about his being suspended as that’s a well known rule - and Abreu not being suspended doesn’t change that.1 point

Gavin Sheets is clearly your DH vs RHP at this point. I don't see Vaughn starting vs RHP at this point. That leaves three options: Engel in RF, Hernandez at 2B Engel in RF, Leury at 2B Leury in RF, Hernandez at 2B I really think Hernandez is the odd man out, at least vs RHP.1 point

I wish I could remember which poster kept tracking Gavin Sheets through birmingham as I was like "meh can't hit for power as a 23 year old 1b who cares" because they hopefully are enjoying this. That is just an unbelievably sweet swing the way only a left handers can be.1 point

He's the one that doesn't have a jersey on since he wasn't playing. He was in the middle of the scuffle and there was an ump stuck in the middle. If TA gets suspended for making contact and nobody else does it's absolute bullshit cause just about every player made contact with the ump.1 point

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you. If you (that's Texsox, not anyone else), disagree with something I said please say what and why. I can support my statements. I know it may not align with how you want to view things but that doesn't mean it isn't true.1 point

Do you really need this explained? The polio vaccine effectively rid the world of the virus when mass distribution occurred. Polio was a virus that affected the youth and the healthy. When mass distribution of the COVID vaccine occurred, we see some countries seeing their highest case rates of COVID since the start of all this. COVID is a virus that very rarely affects the youth, the healthy, etc. Even when a country surpasses 50%, 2/3 or 75% vaccination rate, cases are skyrocketing to all time highs. This is true with different countries, in different regions, in different climates and with different vaccines (ex. UK, Israel, Malaysia). Look back in this thread when Israel's rollout was happening. I am sure there are posts from StrangeSox and others pointing to Israel as the blueprint for vaccine rollout. Then when the same country's cases skyrocket to all time highs the same people aren't as interested in the vaccine-related developments in Israel or other countries with vaccination rates and high cases rates. They just move the goalposts All vaccines are not created equally. Weak vaccines create mutations of viruses. There was never a delta variant of the polio virus because Salk's polio virus was one of the most incredible scientific creations of all time and effectively eradicated the virus from the earth.1 point
