Just terrible takes in this thread. Sox won 93 games despite 4 major injuries that cost us a few games. They got outpitched, outhit, and outdefended by the class of the AL and somehow they’re garbage? Nah. They’re still the third best team in the AL, and IMO would have beaten the crap out of the wildcard but drew the absolute worst matchup in Houston and got flat out exploited. Stop acting like emotional children, put your big boy pants on, and grow up. We lost. We will be back next year and better.10 points

It didn’t end the way we wanted but considering how much adversity this group faced - we all enjoyed a lot of great moments this season. GO SOX forever.8 points

How about for '22 we invoke a dress code for starters. Caps on straight, shirts buttoned and no jewelry. We lead the league in chains. Maybe hire Gabe Kapler away from Giants to instill a little purpose other than support the local jewelers. More brains and less chains.8 points

The biggest problem with the White Sox is their organizational philosophies and personnel. It's quite obvious they are way behind the times when it comes to analytics, scouting, fundamentals, plate approach, etc. All the talent in the world isn't going to mean shit without the right approach defensively, and at the plate. They aren't in the same stratosphere as the top dogs when it comes to being prepared for their opponents. The TLR hire exemplifies this more than anything. It's not the 90s anymore. Stop trying to play baseball like it is. Too much "gut instinct" and not enough attention to the numbers.6 points

I know we all have our differences sometimes but I love all you fine people because we all bleed black and white. We may argue over the details, but we are brethren. Let's all be miserable together now!6 points

I don't care who they sign or trade for in the offseason, the Sox are a poorly run org from top to bottom. the talented players we have look unprepared for long stretches and that's a coaching problem, people wanna keep pretending like throwing money at more players will fix this teams issues, it goes so much deeper than just plugging in good players, the coaches have to get the most out of the talent we have. these guys today looked like they haven't faced McCullers 3 times this year already, that is completely unacceptable in 2021 for a fucking playoff team are we getting the best Moncada? how about Kopech, or Jimenez? What about Grandal? How did Giolito perform, up to par? Keuchel? these guys don't respect their coaches at all and it shows5 points

It’s very clear that Ron is to blame for this loss. If he doesn’t break the gamethread rules, today is a very different day. If the mods ban him right now, the Sox can still win this thing!5 points

I can always count on Soxtalk acting like a good White Sox team is actually a 100 loss team. And all wins were based on luck and departed players. I loved the progress they made, the "next man up" attitude to overcome injuries that would have devastated a lesser team, and the emergence of some elite young hitters and pitchers. But, so many here will bask in the glow of their "I told ya so's" and pretend to be fans while rooting for negative outcomes. I guess congrats are in order for you. 2020...Wild Card. 2021...Division. Next step...League Champ. Keep moving forward.5 points

Well, Game 1 was a pitcher who we know sucks in Houston but is ok against them on the road so we pitched him in Houston and were astonished he sucked. Game 4 was a pitcher we knew only had so much in the tank, so we waited until he loaded the bases then left him in. Then went to the pitcher we said we weren't going to use because he worked hard on Sunday. And throughout all of that, we have defensive positioning giving them baserunners.5 points

Dude your team was quite literally caught cheating. Not everyone is/was banging trash cans and using buzzers. Stop making excuses. Your team is a giant asterisk and at the end of its run. Now respectfully, GTFOH.5 points

I now am a Cusack fan. Mentions LaMarr Hoyt and Mike Squires. He wins baby. If you are both a Sox and Cubs fan somehow more power to you. It CAN happen. My grandfather on mom's side was the only Cub fan in the family really. He took his grandkid, me, to many Cub games. I enjoyed them all. My dad, who had ties to Sox management, had season Sox tix when I was a kid. I went to a ton of Sox games with him. My dad never yelled at me for going to Cub games with gramps. Meanwhile we hit high school and dad let me use the four box seats in the summer A LOT. My friends and I loved a ton of Sox games and by then I disliked the Cubs or was at the most not caring about the Cubs. Was I a Cub fan as a kid? For sure AND a Sox fan. I attended a ton of Cub and Sox games. My grandpa was a quiet guy and I'm sure appreciated getting to take his grandkid to games he cared about. He couldn't get into the Sox but never ripped them in my presence. GO CUSACK! Love em both.5 points

My thoughts about the season that just ended and how to proceed: 1) The Kimbrel trade was awful - Not because Kimbrel sucked, or because 5+ years of Madrigal and Heuer were the cost. I didn't feel that way on July 30, but the more I've thought about it the more I've come to believe that the Sox shouldn't have made any trades at the deadline. The MLB postseason is always a bit of a crapshoot. Even more so this year with everybody having played 60 games or fewer last year. Even more so for the Sox with two of the most valuable pitchers from the first half of the season, Rodon and Kopech, having a fairly good chance of wearing down, which is exactly what happened. Kimbrel could have been perfect this series and it wouldn't have changed the outcome. If the Sox had Bryant, or Schwarber, or Gallo, or Escobar instead of Kimbrel it still wouldn't have changed the fact that none of the starting pitchers lasted 3 innings. Sox should have just sat on the roster they had and lived with the results. If they don't think Madrigal is the guy they want at 2B, they still could have traded him in the offseason. 2) There is an organizational coaching problem - This goes beyond the drunk guy in charge, though he certainly didn't make anything better. This team is bad at: defensive positioning, holding runners on, swinging and missing too much, hitting too many grounders, and probably a couple other things I can't think of right now. There needs to be an overhaul in how this team uses data and applies it to how the players are coached. 3) There are too many similar hitters - Eloy Jimenez, Jose Abreu, Andrew Vaughn, and Jake Burger are all right-handed hitters who swing and miss too much, hit too many balls on the ground, and don't provide much defensive value. I don't think upgrading 2B and RF are going to be enough. I think there need to be some trades to diversify the roster. Trading Abreu or Eloy would be tremendously unpopular, and I'm not saying to do it no matter what, but if a really good return can be had, it needs to be seriously considered. 4) Catching is a problem - I'm a big advocate of Grandal's, and while he's proven his bat belongs in the lineup every day, he's just not working out behind the plate. This is a really tough problem to fix as there is a real scarcity of good alternatives. Nearly every available catcher is either bad with the bat, bad behind the plate, or both. Maybe the return on trading one of the guys listed above needs to be a catcher.4 points

Remember when Hahn signed Eaton when Brantley was still available for the taking? That move stings. I thought it was too obvious at the time.4 points

We decided to trade one of the only guys who was the exact opposite of swing and miss. Madrigal was the perfect compliment to this lineup, sucks we won't have that anymore.4 points

One record that will truly never be broken. It was ridiculous then and even moreso now. It also speaks to the absolute giant horseshoe that was firmly placed up the ass of that team.4 points

This is a good point. Teams with the nerd organization reputation like rays, red sox, dodgers, giants, cards, astros get so much out of their players. The game has changed and it feels like the cws are playing in quick sand.4 points

Yes, but can't get to game 4 without game 3. If Rodon has his velocity, he probably gives you the best chance to win over every Sox starter. If he is almost full strength, what sense does it make to save him for a game that might have not been played?4 points

I'd pitch Lynn tomorrow on normal rest. Going with an injured Rodon is a dumb move.3 points
