The obsession with moving one of the best defensive third basemen in baseball back to second base confounds me.5 points

We saw firsthand how excellent infield defense can impact a series. I think people are looking for a way to shove the best 9 hitters they can get into the lineup and ignore the impacts on the defense. Moncada needs to stay at 3rd.3 points

I think for the first time in our lifetime the Sox are going to act like a big market team this off season.3 points

So, you bring up strength of schedule, someone counters with Braves an 88 win team in a bad division that had a worse strength of schedule than the sox, and you say "well at least they were chased by the Phillies", the 82-80 Phillies. The 80-82 Cleveland team "chased" the sox in that case, the sox just unfortunately won 5 more games and did it early enough not to get the extra credit I guess.3 points

Indicative of how this team way overachieved and more kudos need to go towards LaRussa making something out of a very anemic underperforming offense most of the season. I understand health played a big factor on why Eloy, Robert, and Grandal didn't make the list. But there are no excuses why Abreu and Moncada underperformed so badly.2 points

After the last four plus decades of Reinsdorfian dysfunction, one franchise-crippling decision after another, and less-than-optimal on the field results, I think this charter AL franchise is both in need and deserving of a completely new & fresh approach by a new owner. One who will preferably run the team as a big market team, and no more of this “can’t spend a dollar when you only have fifty cents” BS. How about an owner with deep pockets for this team for once!2 points

Would love Willson Contreras. Would be a difference maker behind the plate, Grandal could catch Lynn and one more, DH/1B most other games. Both stay fresh. Thought Madrigal + Heuer for Contreras would have been a fair exchange in July, not sure if he was available. Sox should have been asking if he was. Young and healthy enough to extend for 2023.2 points

As I'm entitled to mine. Which is why I started the post. Oh and by the way, yeah we should be grateful for the season we had. And the playoffs are a crapshoot. Hey, I kept this post shorter!!2 points

Why haven’t we had a press conference? Oh my God. What does this mean???? They must be hiding something! I just don’t understand it. It really makes no sense and we should have already heard something official from the team. Seriously, why… like really… why????2 points
-
I think a completely new ownership person/group would be the best path forward, but I would give him a chance to see what changes get made.2 points
-
Again, there is nobody "getting worked up" over the press conference or lack thereof. Just finding it odd it hasn't happened without something possibly important happening (Hahn not returning). Grandal's surgery could have been one reason to delay (to announce the results), but that news was learned vis Grandal's instagram, not the team.2 points

I know, it's really hard to figure out why so many here would like a player who bats LH, plays solid OF defense and slashed .292/.401/.437 in 2021 and is still cost controlled. Bunch of weirdos.2 points

Well, only 14 shopping days until MLBTradeRumors predicts a George Springer like contract for Conforto and Sox fans everywhere wake up to the fact that Jerry won't buy him.2 points

TBF, any of Duvall, Pederson or Rosario would be a been sizable upgrade in RF to the situation we ran out there in RF this season. But none of them are world beaters either. Braves have caught lightning in a bottle here.2 points

Two slots? Giolito, Lynn, Cease, & Kopech at minimum are getting four of the spots. I think they QO Rodon and he accepts, which would then be a full rotation. So I’d say they have one spot in the rotation to address if Rodon doesn’t accept and they plan to move on from Keuchel. No doubt some depth would be nice, but most organizations don’t have great #6 starters. Will probably be Lopez primarily with hopes that Stiever & Lambert can finally stay healthy and eat up some starts as well. That can probably work in a weak AL Central, although I’d try for a couple minor league deals to add some arms in AAA as well.2 points

Braves were 31-37 against teams better than .500. Braves won an awful division with less than 90 wins. It's IMPOSSIBLE for this Sox team to make or win a World Series. The playoffs are not a coin flip where fluke things, like Eddie Rosario becoming a god, have much impact at all. We should blow up the entire roster, because we have no chance! We had a losing record vs winning teams and only won our division because it sucked.2 points

The Dodgers have been World Series contenders for YEARS and will be contenders for the foreseeable future, meanwhile we snuck out 1 playoff win in the last 13 years with a short window due to having the worst developmental minor league system in the game. Your thread belongs in the trash.2 points

And the Astros going to 5 straight ALCS are what? What does that do for your variance argument? You're the same Jack as always. You feel like life didn't go your way but you worked just as hard as everyone else....so anyone with success must just be lucky, has nothing to do with being skilled. Because if skill = success, in your mind you'd be much more successful than you currently are. But as we've gone round and round before, just because you haven't been successful doesn't mean others with skill aren't talented and impactful. It's an argument devoid of any logic or substance, but here we are. So happy to have you back on the site.1 point

Well the four who took credit for winning 3 cups lucked into it, because it was Bill Wirtz and his guy Dale Tallon who acquired the core team responsible for the Hawks' on ice success. Rocky, John and the Bowmans took credit for the work of others, but when it came time to rectify their racist coach's behavior (Bill Peters) or report their serial rapist video coach to the authorities, they turned the other way. Stan approved demoting the black player subject to abused by Bill Peters. Rocky's organization not only condoned a culture of taunting the sexually abused players, but later recommended Aldrich for jobs with access to children, who Brad of course also raped until he was finally arrested, convicted and jailed. Bill Peters was fired by a responsible organization, for Bill's actions while he was with Rocky's organization. Then again, Rocky's team logo is also racist, so there is no evidence Rocky, John or the Bowmans consider rape or racism wrong, or that they are responsible for either at this juncture. John was finally purged to save Rocky ca$h during COVID and give his son a job. Rocky, Scotty and Stan need to go immediately, if not sooner, as well as anyone else still there in a position of authority who aided and abetted Aldrich either during his time in Chicago, or provided employment recommendations after his departure.1 point

Oh, stop right there, cowboy. You’re crossing a line with this racism insinuation. There is no “bias” or “pattern” whatsoever that surfaces during his broadcasts or his appearances on the Score. None at all. And this isn’t a matter of opinion. There are zero actual quotes you can point to that can even remotely support what you are insinuating. He never made that comparison of Vaughn to Trout nor has he ever said anything of the sort about Moncada. So please cease and desist with this line of divisive commentary.1 point

Stone had a thing about criticizing Eloy all season..even mocking him. That really got old for me after a while. Stone's pronunciation of Eloy's name, accenting the second syllable, just seemed like it revealed part of his bias against that player. Whatever his reasons, I don't care. Everyone has their own opinion of players. Stone's bias is just more apparent and potentially controversial since he is on air for so many games. Anyway, If you care to buy everything Stone is trying to sell you (go ahead!) , Vaughn is the next Mike Trout and Moncada is a lazy bum. I am sensing a pattern with Stone's opinions about players.1 point

Bryant still puts up good numbers, but they have been down since his peak. He seems like a guy you may regret giving a long term deal fairly soon. There just is something about him that makes me think you always will expect more.1 point

If they did not win 100 games playing in the ALC I doubt they are ready for playoff success. You also need guys who will rise to the occasion.1 point

Two things can be true at once. The Braves have gotten incredibly hot at the right time. We've seen that happen before, and it will happen again. That's great for the Braves, it's made a great story. The team they are playing in the World Series has been the absolute class of the AL for the last 5-6 years and it's not luck or coincidence that has gotten them to 5 straight ALCS appearances (cheating however, has played a role lol) Yes, getting hot and "luck" can and do play a role in the playoffs. But the idea of just building a playoff team and hoping for the right breaks to happen to your team once you make the dance is short-sighted and lacks an understanding of the game. The Sox have shown us in back to back seasons that at this point, they have not reached the "elite" level of teams of which there are only a select few. Does that mean they couldn't still win a World Series with his collection of players? No...they absolutely could. But there are absolutely improvements they can make that will help their chances in October.1 point

Conforto irrationally annoys me because of this site's random fascination with random players ala Nimmo.1 point

So the Sox should have picked up all 4 of these guys. Who should they have cut? Do you have any posts other than hindsight showing how obvious this move was?1 point

He's also had three big league seasons with a 2.4 or higher fWAR, including 3.4 as recently as 2018. Now to pick one guy specifically out of Soler, Duvall, Pederson and Rosario...that would be almost impossible to predict. But you are able to secure FOUR of those guys when the White Sox had a difficult time coming up with just ONE during the season is pretty remarkable, and also sound scouting. They acknowledge their clear weaknesses after the early-season injuries and went out and addressed them.1 point

Lol, I sincerely apologize to have affected you so much to have you try to drag the argument you invented into a second thread. You seem to have a habit of projecting some sort of adversarial argument onto other people's conversations, regardless of how unrelated they are to the one happening in your head. I can't imagine that does anything but cause more stress for you. So, you have my sympathy, but I'm not going to spend time defending arguments you've made up on my behalf, lol.1 point

well done, but don't worry, our fanbase holds the Sox to a completely different standards. Hell just imagine if we had won 107 games then lost in the DS. The internet might explode with our fans calling the season a massive failure as it is1 point

It's not an excuse, it's an example that the playoffs are a crap shoot and implying this team could never win a World Series ignores reality and the facts in front of your face. You can be disappointed with how the Sox performed in the playoffs and also realize that this team was also capable of winning a title just like every other team in the playoffs.1 point

Kinda a sad state of affairs when we simply assume a player of that caliber would simply be gone in FA instead of being retained by the White Sox. We've become conditioned like Pavlov's dogs...guess we will see what they decide to do with Giolito and TA.1 point

Anyone can win a short series and the Braves proved it and I'm happy they did. Now go out and beat the cheaters and it's also payback time for Atlanta and Georgia for losing the All Star Game because of stupid politics.1 point
-
The Sox could have done a lot of things, outside of just letting their talent play, to increase their chances of winning a short playoff series. The talent is there, they don’t need an overhaul. They need to play better baseball, and that includes preparation and game plans from our coaching staff.1 point

Rosario had a fluke playoff run. Acting as if that is somehow predictable is comical,1 point

Remember back in the day when Garpax would give away 2nd round picks for money? Ayo is this year's 2nd round pick and he's already been productive. Garpax were such complete shit.1 point

La Russa doesn’t give a rats ass about anything beyond unwritten rules for the entire season, from the first day of spring training until after the final game when all he cried about beanballs and other crap that the game has moved on from. The team regressed year over year on defense, base-running and other fundamentals. Every Reinsdorf paid media hack and Tony’s Stans here and elsewhere have the same spiel, the team would always be prepared to play under Tony, Tony would usher in a new era. It was all complete and utter bullshit, and this will continue until they bring in a competent manager and staff who aren’t here to kiss veteran ass and whine about bullshit, but instead lead their team to kick opponents asses, with a focus of how to take advantage of the things like shifting, fundamentals, smart approaches in the batters box, and smart baseball which successful teams excel at daily.1 point

Now you're attributing passed balls from Sevala and Collins to Grandal. I mean, that's an impressive level and haterism.1 point

White Sox winning one ALDS game in the playoffs: trash team that can’t compete. Brewers winning one NLDS game: model org to try to live up to1 point

I don't see how Hahn's record with the Sox would be particularly attractive to other teams. 2 quick exists preceded by 7 losing seasons. He inherited a lot of talent; drafts were so-so. Slow to bring in analytics. He's not a talent evaluator. But his contract work was first-rate and he may be well-regarded in the business. An owner not trusting his GM is just bad business all around.1 point

What a bunch of B.S.....Some Astros players told my investigators that they did not believe the sign-stealing scheme was effective, and it was more distracting than useful to hitters. I am neither in a position to evaluate whether the scheme helped Astros hitters (who were unquestionably a very talented group), nor whether it helped the Astros win any games. Manford should be banned for making an asine comment like that basically defending the Astros.1 point
