  2. Is this your first offseason in any sport? My freakin god. The season doesn't start tomorrow.

  3. Dude, just shutup and go away. These takes are awful.

  4. Still talking last I heard. A lot of interest in him but I like their chances.

  5. This “great team as is” will be caught by the Tigers if Detroit starts landing free agents. Little piddly $5M gap fillers aren’t gong to cut it anymore. The White Sox are in the middle of their championship window and should be pushing chips in. We all as Sox fans suffered during the rebuild and its going to be upsetting if this is the best it’s going to get.

  7. Texas out here throwing money around all over. We're in the couch cushions, looking for a quarter to spend.

  8. Can't spend money if there is no one left to sign. 4 dimensional chess baby!

  9. They're working hard trying to figure out how they misread the market so fucking bad.

  10. Feels like a very White Sox thing to do, to turn Nick Madrigal and his 5+ years of control at minimum salary, into Jean Segura, 14.25 million salary and 1 year, whilst getting a terrible half a season from a closer they didn't need.

  11. One thing I’m not looking forward to if the Sox do nothing today is the arrogant tweets by Stoney about how much Jerry has already spent on the team and the real additions will be the health of the main guys for a full year

  12. What I've learned from this thread: The core actually sucks if you look at small sample sizes, but only the bad small sample sizes, not the good small sample sizes. However, we should not trade the core to the Oakland A's or they'll all become Marcus Semien and we'll want to sign them to big deals years from now. Except some of us won't, because small sample size says they only have two good seasons. Michael Kenneth Harrelson is a large man. It won't matter what happens with Madrigal's career or what comes back in a Kimbrel trade, we're going to hear about this until the end of time. This offseason will only be a success if the Sox sign Corey Seager as a 2-way player and trade Dallas Keuchel for Honus Wagner's great nephew.

  15. Conforto hasn't signed elsewhere. I don't know of one name signed that was a realistic target of the Sox. I wouldn't get pissed until they miss out on him and/or get stuck with Kimbrel. And I'm not defending the organization, just don't think they've lost out on anything they've coveted yet.

  16. 2.1 WAR for close to minimum seems like a good deal especially for a team that is always concerned about budget.

  17. Disagree, like a lot. Madrigal sux. He belongs in the Clown Pajamas on the North Side. If he was never a Sox player and the Cubs drafted him we'd all be snickering at Cubs fans for thinking he's great. Nick Madrigal hits the emptiest .300 in the history of baseball.

  18. Didn't really want Scherzer, but I do find it funny that White Sox fans have reached peak battered wife syndrome; they now make fun of other teams who do spend money. Oh, nice Ferrari loser! I have a Camry, and that has the lowest depreciation rate of any car on the market. Enjoy losing your cars value the moment you drive it out of the lot, clown!

  19. One contarct can't cripple a multi-billion dollar organization but the owners thank you for thinking it can.

  21. This plan is still mostly in play. Just replace Tepera with Graveman. Find a different milb deal SP than Quintana. Let's make it happen, Rick.

  22. Honestly, I already stopped watching the postseason if the Sox aren’t in it. A little bit here and there but I just don’t care to invest almost 4 hours in a game my team isn’t in. When I was younger I watched most games.

  23. Please don't expand baseball playoffs. Its what makes it better than all the other major sports that half the league doesn't get in. Don't fix what isn't broken.

  25. Adam Eaton numbers? What the fuck are you talking about? He was one of the best hitters in baseball against RHP from 2017 to 2020.

  26. I’ve never carried water for Jerry. He’s a shitty owner and has been my whole life.

  27. you want to place a ban wager on whether the sox do something before the lockout? Put my take against yours?

  28. Gloom and doom and let’s get desperate is what I read here. The Sox haven’t misread the market and I don’t think paying salary amounts that these guys were signed for would be a wise move for the team

  29. I’m bummed about passing on Gausman & Ray at those prices. Sucks that Jerry is a cheap mothefucker, but nothing is going to change in that regard unfortunately. That being said, most of the positional guys of interest are still there outside of Semien, who I never bought into as being a serious target. Conforto, Taylor, Schwarber, and Castellanos are all still available. I do think Conforto is hands-down the best fit out of those four, but any of them would be big additions. Definitely not time to panic just yet.

  30. I did not expect the Sox to be in on Seager, Scherzer, or even Semien (considering the length of contract he was going to get), but it's just frustrating seeing all these moves being made and rumors flying everywhere and not hearing a damn peep about the Sox. If they don't get anything of substance done by tomorrow, it's going to be a long, frustrating winter waiting for a new CBA before anything else happens. The team is worse than it was at the end of the season. Two major holes at 2B and RF and a significant gap at SP. And other teams in the AL are getting better by the minute. Not addressing at least one need before Wednesday would be very discouraging and pretty inexcusable.

  31. Also, Ray and Guasman don't guarantee shit in the playoffs. Nice to have? Sure. Gausman had a 6 ERA this postseason. How'd that go for guaranteeing the G's an NLCS?

  32. Just wait until the Tigers add two more big pieces

  33. Who is asking them to be like the Yankees, Dodgers and Mets? I'm asking the Sox to stop acting like the A's and Pirates in FA's, not to start acting like the Dodgers and Yankees. Jaysus.

  34. The f'ing Seattle Mariners just signed Robbie Ray, not the Dodgers, Yankees or Mets. The Rangers signed Marcus Semien. The Blue Jays signed Kevin Gausman. lol This place is truly something else. You said you were glad the Sox didn't give him that money. That has nothing to do with living in reality, it's a proclamation that you're happy the Sox didn't sign the reigning Cy Young winner because in your mind he was too expensive. Living in reality would be embracing the fact that the Sox have wasted more money in free agency than almost any team signing huge "bad" contracts. They've gotten a lesser return on their dollars than almost every single team in the game over the past twenty years. Yet you're still here living in reality asking them to continue to allocate their funds in that absurd manner.

  38. But the Sox were going to act like a BIG MARKET team and spend big money this off-season!!!

  41. How can you make this comment? We don't have a 2B. Of course plugging Madrigal in at 2B and not having to worry about that position at all this offseason and for another 5 seasons is far far far far better than giving him away for virtually nothing. Or 2B is Mendick or Romy right now. I am all about waiting to see the entire picture, which we obviously don't have at this moment. But as of now, saying you're glad he's not on the team is silly.

  42. Listen, Kimbrel is a GREAT option, as long as you ONLY let him pitch the 9th, have exactly a 2 run lead, it isn't raining, the day is Tuesday-Thursday, and it is after Labor Day. Its so easy to see.

  43. That's not helpful if targets are getting signed before the CBA, though. They better hope Conforto doesn't get snatched up today.
