Is there any truth to the rumor that Leury is Marcus Stroman's best friend....and Kris Bryant's brother in law??6 points
-
Ahh yes. Comping Leury to Machado is valid here. The offseason just started. And you aren't getting multiple "left handed savages". Hopefully you'll get one. The lineup with Conforto and Segura is easily top 3 in the league, very possibly #1.6 points

Leury Garcia may end up being one of the longest tenured White Sox ever and that alone is a hysterical thought to me.6 points

Taylor finished the season in an 8-72 slump, and had an OBP under .300 and an OPS under .700 the second half of 2021. He is basically the position player equivalent of Kimbrel.6 points

I’m teasing him. Probably just wanted to let Tim know that Lockport won the championship.5 points

Nick Madrigal hasn't even been able to show that he can play 2B, let alone all around the field.5 points

I like him as an utility man playing 80-100 a year, mostly in the infield. If he is their starting 2B, than Fuck You.5 points

I’m super nervous to see the AAV and what this means for other acquisitions.5 points

lol yes, it's the fans fault that they expected the FO to do what they said they'd do three-two-one years ago.5 points

I'd be happy if we traded Kimbrel for him....and I have no idea who he is.4 points

Not Steve Cishek is a troll and doesn't know anything that any clued in Sox fan doesn't know.4 points

100% agree. And we have Romy Gonzalez who is a Leury starter kit with a bit more upside if it all clicks. Zero reason to spend $6M on a bench piece (for three years no less) if we can allocate those funds elsewhere. And I get I’m in the minority on Leury, but I’m a little concerned this is a sign we’ll be “spreading the wealth” this offseason with a bunch of C tier signings. I pray I’m overreacting, but signing Leury to a multi year deal was the last thing I wanted us to do this offseason.4 points

Just no imagination by this team. Zero. Great teams find "super sub" players within the scraps of their own farm system. They don't give 3 year deals to these types of players.4 points

Just ignore the report from above. Begin your meltdown as you wish sir.4 points

Could you imagine if Conforto and Castellanos sign elsewhere in next 24 hours and then lockout occurs?4 points

Soxtalk the only place where you get hundreds of comments in minutes complaining about signing a guy who was worth 2+ WAR last year before any financial details come out. I love this place3 points
-
Very typical of how JR/ownership have run the Sox. Open the checkbook for a decent but easily replaced guy that they know well, but tighten those purse strings when actually trying to address an organizational weakness.3 points

Because I'd rather use the 7 million (if 20 million is really what he gets) elsewhere with a team that clearly doesn't like to spend money. Why is that hard to understand?3 points
-
This is where I am at. USe the 7 million elsewhere and use Romy as the super sub. How much playing time does a super sub get in the playoff? I'd wager, not a lot.3 points
-
Look at it the other way....spending 6-7 million a year on a utility player could show they are going to spend more than we think. Too hard to tell at the moment.3 points

He is a really versatile solid player who provides depth. Don't love the years but can't complain with this move at all.3 points

A "C" by what measure? Because those moves would result in one of the best and most balanced rosters in baseball. This is my problem with offseason talk. Fans get so myopic and wrapped up in grading who had the splashiest offseason and forget that the name of the game is having the best baseball team overall. It's the reason you can see people unironically say things like "it must be nice to be a Rangers fan..." No, it's not.3 points
-
I don't have a problem with Segura, what I do have an issue with is them picking up Kimbrel's option just to trade it for an almost equal salary. You could have just bought him out for a million and signed somebody in free agency. Unless they're getting some prospects back in a deal like that, it really doesn't make a ton of sense.3 points

The guardians of JR's fortune will let us know that we have enough. We are already winners no matter if we add anyone. And that just getting into the dance is good enough because it's just such a crapshoot. The only one who looks out more than JR's accountant seems to be one of the sects of White Sox fandom.3 points

I feel like one of the best rotations in the game should be able to pitch 5 innings in the playoffs and not walk like 7 batters per 9.3 points

Oh sweet nothin, you ain't got nothin at all no player november sad roster playlist Hold Kimbrel Bundy $9M Dickerson $7M Garcia $6M Kendell Graveman $8M Trade Dallas Keuchel for Robinson Cano & $2M Annually Salary $183M Hahn Quotes: "To be able to add a Hall of Famer like Robinson cano to our lineup was something we couldn't pass up" "We feel like with Hendriks, Kimbrel and Graveman, nobody will want to face our bullpen" "Dickerson gives us good production vs RHP and give us more versatility in our lineup" "Certainly you may have seen what Leury did in the playoffs and all of last year, we didn't want to let a player like that go" "Dylan Bundy we have been tracking for a while, and we think can get him back to his 2020 form. No, we didn't get a 2nd year option, and if he's great we will not extend a QO, because that's not how we operate" You are welcome.3 points

Well we could of hired their manager. But someone needed to right a wrong from the 80s and that trumped winning.3 points

Still waiting on that big market big spending team to show it's face Harold. Hard to laugh at another team who might invest in their roster when the Sox have invested nothing.3 points

Wanted absolutely nothing to do with Javy Baez so am happy the Tigers signed him. Think he's a flawed player who will age very very poorly due to those flaws. He is the type of player who once he loses an inkling of bat speed will lose his entire offensive game. Don't think going to Comerica is that big of a deal, but I just don't think his offense ages well at all.3 points

“Our Biggest free agent signing was actually extending Lance Lynn during the season, which tied up a lot of resources. we were in on every free agent, but didn’t want the market to dictate our actions”. - RIck Hahn in the near future3 points

No - I might not love the offseason so far, but the winner of the offseason doesn't always correlate to the season and we still have months to go. And - this is still a 90+ win team that lost a lot of its top talent due to injury last year with more players than not having arrows still pointing up (vs. down), including a number who are widely considered elite talents in this league. The major loss they have is Rodon - which is huge - but they still have good starting pitching and a deep pen and reasons to be optimistic with some of their young pitchers (Cease - another step forward? Gio - is this the year he fully breaks out? Kopech/Crochet - do they each take steps forward?). And quite frankly Keuchel has some reason to be optimistic for some reversion back to being a quality starter - not the guy who was stellar in the COVID shortened 2020 but certainly better than the guy who was dumpster fire the 2nd half of the year as he struggled through some back issues + having an inability to deal without being able to put anything on the ball. Robert / Eloy / Vaughn / Moncada / Timmy / Grandal / Abreu - That is a lot of reasons to be happy. 7 players who are either already real good or have all the potential to take steps forward to that and more. Abreu / Grandal being the only 2 who I would say are on the downside(s) of their career - but both of which are still clearly very good players, especially at their respective positions. And Grandal technically put up the best WAR of his career in '21. (and in just 90 games). Oh and the rest of the teams in the division - they would all be envious of the list of players I just outlined.2 points
