Trading Vaughn is just a terrible idea. There's no huge upgrade that makes trading him worth it in any sense. We already have an amazing offense and a really good staff. Of course we have some holes, but all of the holes can be filled for free in free agency, or at worst, using other assets.4 points

Seeing all the high ceiling talent they passed on for low ceiling college guys is enough to make you puke.3 points

Hypothetical trades are not allowed during "just spend more money" season. Wait until every free agent has signed and the fanbase will be much more eager to approve hypothetical deals. My take: I think the Sox were shopping Vaughn this time last season, they should have a good idea of what his value was then. If he is still similarly valued, I'd trade him for a better fit. I don't believe the Sox will move on from Abreu after this season. Two more years of Yaz needing time at DH. Eloy might need some or all of the at-bats at DH. They have a glut at 1B/DH types. I think when you draft the best college hitter despite him not being a perfect fit, you have to be willing to trade him. BUT if Vaughn has hurt his value since last offseason, and that is entirely possible, I sincerely hope the Sox do not sell low on him.3 points

If true, this could be the greatest cord cutting news since cord cutting became a thing. Fingers crossed.2 points

1. Means: No. 2. Vaughn to rent a .200 hitter for 1 season: No (and I know I didn't put Gallo in best light, but the Sox have been down that road before). 3. Probably a positive expectation trade (although I wouldn't do it).2 points

You're missing the point. Stop reading internet comments. Stop listening to the meatballs The Score puts on. You know how they say "NEVER read the YouTube comments?" The same goes for Facebook. And I'll bet you good money if you go to some stupid Chiefs Facebook Fan page today, you'll have a bunch of Chief fans saying everyone is overrated on their team, they stink, blah blah blah. You actually say in your post that you've been going after meatballs for years trying to get them to stop and think. The jokes on you for spending years trying to change the habits of a bunch of idiots. They won't ever change, it's how they'll always be. I don't think I'm a meatball fan. There are times I have meatball emotional takes (like when Grayson Allen decides to a cock for the 97th time in his career) but for the most part I think I'm a fairly level-headed fan. Why should I give the Bears the benefit of the doubt? Not Poles and Flus, but the Bears as a total organization. What actual evidence do I have that would tell me George and Ted got it right this time? Like anything in life, you need to earn that trust. And the Bears organization has done NOTHING to earn the trust of the fanbase. Only hurt it. So until I see real change happen on the field, I'm going to be skeptical of what they do as an organization. Doesn't mean I'm rooting against them, doesn't mean I want them to fail, and it doesn't mean I think Poles/Flus are bad hires. But if I'm asked to give my opinion on the subject, I don't know how I couldn't be skeptical. I know next to nothing about Poles or Flus. I'm not going to pretend I have followed them and really know their backgrounds. No idea. But what I have followed is the track record of executives and coaches George has brought into this organization since he took over......and it doesn't inspire a lot of hope.1 point

No, that’s kind of the point. You would pay like $20 a month for access to NBCSports Chicago via their app on your connected devices. You would sign up with a new log in/password.1 point

Ok, so you’re not giving the team the benefit of the doubt. What does that mean? You won’t be watching them this year? You’re not buying tickets? You’re going to not comment on the Bears in this thread? I have no idea if they got it right or wrong, and understand it might be year 2 or 3 before you can really tell. If they’re a 5 win team in year 3 at least it will be time for a new coach, and the GM could be on shaky ground. What more is there to say?1 point

Last year Nick Siriani went viral for how bad his press conference was. That team improved to go to the playoffs. Dan Campbell was pointed and laughed at for his over the top coachiness. He then became a darling of the same people during the season. These guys haven't even had a chance to know what this team is. The bit about Eberflus not calling plays was definitely the most noteworthy part of the press conference.1 point

It's not gonna be a quick fix. Poles said they are going to build through the draft. The problem is they only have 5 draft picks this year thanks to the prior regime. Either he's going to have to get creative with trade downs or potentially put some current players on the block (he can also more or less ask for draft capital back for 2023 instead since they will have all of their picks). I'm very interested to see how he and the rest of the front office handles this.1 point

I get the feeling that coming off of an extra long year (playoffs) after a 60 game season, we aren't out of the clouds for seeing lots of pitching related problems. I would love to go into the season with both extra and deeper starting pitching than is normally expected.1 point

The above was posited based upon my belief (unfounded of course) that Sox will not be spending big bucks on FAs (sorry Comforto fans). Means is arguably the best pitcher who MIGHT be available through trade, although who knows what Baltimore is considering. As to Gallo/Gil...Gallo had a shit year in '20 but has 1 yr. left at $10M and, in addition to elite LH power, provides GG corner defense. From what I've read and seen of Colas, he might be ready for the bigs by '23 and Gallo can move on (unless we want to resign him). Gil definitely looks the part of a middle-bottom rotation piece or set-up man and is worth rolling the dice on Katz coaching. Marte is Marte and a perfect fit. I'm a huge Vaughn fan but we have very little by way of trade chits and Vaughn is arguably the most valuable among the replaceable. He would likely start the season as back-up to Eloy in LF and the weak-side of a RF platoon with Sheets (and some DH vs. LH pitching). I'd rather not trade him but as I mentioned, sadly, I don't think we sign a big money FA unless we somehow move Kimbrel and Keuchel. Personally, I think the Sox would better themselves with any of those three options but I'd be most in favor of #1 or #2.1 point

Mahomes is a great talent. That is one problem with him. Sometimes the play isn't there and you can't make it happen. That pass at the end of the half was just plain stupid. He should have thrown the ball away and taken the three. Then when KC drove for its tying field goal, he almost blew it. He scrambled when he should have taken the sack. Instead, he lost seven more yards and fumbled. He was lucky a teammate fell on the ball or KC would have lost right there. Mahomes cost his team this game although you have to give the Bengals defense credit for a great second half.1 point

Why haven't MiLB players unionized? I'm thinking about the people who depend on MLB to earn a living and thinking most of them are deserving raises. If we're going to move insane profits from owners to anybody else I would much rather see those profits moved to MiLB players and the rest of the employees. The MiLB players shouldn't be arguing about sharing a room while at home. Pay them a livable wage and not making housing a part of the deal. That's just a way to keep from paying them a decent wage. The same for the rest of the front office, ticket offices, vendors, etc. And stop giving these teams millions or billions in tax breaks. They should be paying to make the communities they serve better. But instead the guys with the union who are already making wages that put them among the elite money earners in the world will grab millions more and all the folks struggling to earn a living stay the same. It just doesn't seem fair.1 point
