I just can't understand why people would want another Adam Dunn after watching it up close for 3 seasons4 points

Like I said earlier, I have already started spending this years baseball money on other things.3 points

I don't know if you have any control over this or not but I humbly request that the 10-1 Astros over our beloved Sox game score be removed from the right side of the Soxtalk headquarters page. It just sucks to look at that every time I come here and if the work stoppage causes games to not be played it will suck more. Thanks in advance for all y'all do!2 points

Because the owners refused to make any complete proposal until the lockout had already gone on for 43 days.2 points

The bright side is - free agency is going to be crazy once they do agree. There is going to be a flurry of action in a compressed window.2 points

If they are really shattering the blackout rules, this is wonderful news, and it should be a boatload of money for teams to hit markets they never could sell to. HELLO IOWA!2 points

If true, this could be the greatest cord cutting news since cord cutting became a thing. Fingers crossed.1 point

It’s so disappointing. But who knows, maybe Jim Harbaugh was just extremely lucky at consistently winning for the last 15 years.1 point

My purchases will probably end up through stubhub at discounted prices instead of directly through the team, though if this lasts at all into the season, I may well not go at all1 point

I was going to buy a few of the six ticket specials in the 300 level, but passed on it without knowing what the lockout would do to this season.1 point

Definitely not feeling overly compelled to drop coin on a 10 or 20 game plan right now, that's for sure.1 point

So the players proposed the pool to be $105 million, the owners counted with $10 million?, and then the players counter that with $100 million lmao.1 point

According to MLB on FOX, the 90 minute meeting they had today was "heated" and they are still very far apart. Holy balls. What a bunch of losers.1 point

And if Rodgers is really done with GB.....I actually do think the Bears could be a player for the NFC North in 2022 with a big offseason. An offseason that could still include trading someone like Mack, but also adding some legit OL and WR help like you mentioned. Poles has a lot of work to do and I think the Bears situation is closer to a rebuild than retool.....but it could be done with a very well-executed off-season.1 point

For the record - my first choice would have always been Harbaugh. It may not have worked - but that would have been just a no-brainer, similar to Bears not ever considering Andy Reid when he was out there (and instead hiring Trestman). People say they should have hired Arians, but I was always in the camp that Andy Reid was literally out there - why would you not hire someone of his caliber. Whether Reid would have taken the job - I don't know - but they never even tried (unless my timing is off - but I just remember when Eagles got rid of Reid I was all about Bears hiring him). With that said - hopefully Flus/Poles end up being the better move.1 point

I personally would rather see guys like Vaughn and Crochet competing in the big leagues where they belong as opposed to siting in the minor leagues due to prospect hugging. The whole point should be to put your best roster on the MLB field, not win top prospect lists. I have no issue with how the Sox have handled their younger guys, with the exception of giving up on Madrigal for an overpaid reliever.1 point

I don't know where other people are, but for the record, I had planned on going to spring training this year and had a few people who were all going to travel and meet up down there. Because of the lockout not being over, that money has now been spent on a family trip to see Hadestown in Chicago, along with a night out in the city, along with a spring break trip to Brown County State Park. That was money that was going to go to spring break and also the six ticket promotion that the Sox were doing, that is now gone to them.1 point

.160/.303/.707 at Yankees Stadium, with that right field porch, does not inspire confidence.1 point

Yep, also makes offseason much less fun. Remember how much enjoyment we all got out of that pro football network tool last year?1 point

Sung to the chorus of Evenflow by Pearl Jam Eberflus, will he be good in Chicago? Oh we don't know, should we root for him anyway? Not one game yet, he's begun to piss us off. Meatball fans, fiercely chase him away. The views expressed by this song lyric to not reflect those of Marqhead or its subsidiaries.1 point

Man. Not having a 1R pick sucks. I woulda loved to trade down a bit and give Fields a Burrow/Chase combo set up with Olave.1 point

Maybe people want a proven head coach I dunno I want Eberflus to succeed but if Harbaugh goes to Minnesota, the bears fucked up.1 point
-
A lot of people are so against Eberflus. Why the criticism? Is it because he explains things in a different way than most people are not used to? If that’s the case, it’s best to read up on him so you have a better idea on who he is and what he brings to the team. He hasn’t coached one single game yet and people are already on him. Give the guy a chance.1 point

Yea who cares how much Harbaugh asks for, you spend that money every time and don't worry about it1 point
-
I mean I could not care less about the mccaskeys needing to pay more for a coach because they’ve been so inept at building the organization correctly, and obviously they should have hired Harbaugh first.1 point

I am pretty happy. It’s a press conference so grand scheme it means nothing but I like what I hear from Poles and in particular his vision and just the curiosity he has around surround himself with strong people but how he tries to learn from other orgs etc. I also thought it was classy how he reached out to Nagy on what went well or not and the two connected on that. Similarly - thought the same in terms of Fields reached out to Nagy and DeFillipo on advice. I know we have tipped Nagy for the whole Robinson fiasco but these were nice gestures by Matt. But Flus - I am pretty happy with what I heard and like that he is thinking like a CEO. I loved his answers on his vision for fields and more broadly team and liked how he described value he planned to bring to the offensive coaches etc. seemed to have a pretty clear vision for how he will operate as the Head coach and tone he will set - similarly pretty clear he knows what he won’t do (call plays on defense). All of the above is probably nothing - but a nice first day. Most importantly - unless I missed it - zero reference to Ted Philips from George to Poles to Matt. Pretty evident George was running point on the GM move and very clear Poles got his guy in Flus. I got impression from some of his interviews he did - that we will see Poles makes some trades this offseason too (to get some draft capital back).1 point

I think with RSNs starting to pull out of cable service exclusivity, blackout rules might start going away soon. At the very least, RSNs would allow their content being distributed on the MLB.TV platforms to everyone.1 point
