You just said you won’t complain about Moncada if he puts up 4-5 war seasons. He put up a 4.5 war season in 21, yet you complain about him nearly daily. This does not compute, Jack.6 points

Jack sees butterflies and rainbows when he looks at other rosters and sees doom and gloom when he looks at sox roster. Pretty amazing honestly.5 points

Duran is a reliever. Imagine looking at skubal, mize and singer and being envious/worried after spending months being critical of cease, giolito and kopech.4 points

We just added a 3 WAR player from 2021 and they added a 2 WAR player. You guys just like to freak out about everything. Always squint with one eye when the Rays make a trade like this.4 points

I hope this team gets hotter than shit just to shove it up the ass of half this forum.4 points

Eloy playing at the warning track for a lefty hitter is going to get very tiring. That’s the most routine fly ball ever that dropped because the DH is in the field.4 points

Velasquez already cost $3 million. Cueto's going to want at least $5 million. That's already $8 million of the $18 million QO we should have offered to him.4 points

Honestly - this seems really logical. I'm not big on Cueto, but he's an experienced veteran and if you get the version from last year and he can at least stay healthy half the season - it isn't a bad thing (relative to the other choices). At this point - I don't think they can afford not to bring in a guy like him. But I would have preferred the Sox did like 100 different things because the starting rotation was always there biggest need from day 1 of the offseason (and I was consistently on record indicating such).4 points

James McCann was coached by the same guys as Collins and he went from bad framer to good with the team. I don't think it's a reflection of the Sox. It's the player. Some can do it, some can't. Some want to, some don't. They said Collins worked very hard on his defense. Maybe he just can't be a good defender.4 points

After the stupid ass lockout, botched off-season, and early injuries… am I the only one exhausted already going into the season?4 points

I do like how this is structured. If he goes to Charlotte and gets destroyed, they don’t have to ever promote him and the cost is minimal.3 points

I don't understand why you're acting as if the only options for the Sox adding pitching help is someone who makes over 20M annually or nothing. There is a lot of room in there for the Sox to add a pitcher who could have massively helped but not pushed them into the tax. Again, we *know* they were interested in trading for Manaea and he costs 9.7M this year.3 points

What's not funny is you spamming this board with nearly 17,000 posts of the same irrational bullshit, hijacking thread after thread in the process.3 points

Parkman doesn’t like Vaughn. But if he was in another team he’d be the next babe ruth.3 points

Really? You are declaring disappointment before the season starts?3 points

Making half his starts in Comerica helps. This could be the most disappointing Sox season since 1995. I'm really nervous about the young talent the Tigers and Royals have, the Twins are no slouches and the Guardians can really pitch. This is NOT 2021.3 points

I wonder which is more meaningful & predictive: A 3 year stretch where Moncada was the 2nd most valuable 3B in the entire sport. The fact that over his last 1,406 PA's he's been 24% better than the league average hitter, or, a 38 PA stretch during games that don't matter and we'll all have forgotten about 4 days from now.3 points
-
People don't get that. I like Moncada but the guy from 2019 is gone and is never coming back. We have to hope we get 2021 Moncada3 points

I hope back then he was thinking about coming to Chicago and being a Sox.3 points

He's 36, and before last year he was looking at FIP's over 4.7 for three years in a row. Big fan of Cueto's, and he'd just be a stop gap, but he's got an injury history now at his age and he's a big time fly ball pitcher who does not strike people out. Going from San Fran to Chicago as a big fly ball pitcher is no bueno. The best to one of the worst parks to give up fly balls in as a pitcher, and with all those balls in play, big chance chances for some fireworks.3 points

Not sure what's so bad about Cueto. He was 7-7 last year for the Giants, with a 4.08 ERA and FIP over 114 innings.3 points

So, if it improves, it doesn't count. It isn't true.. While you love to live om the White Sox do everything wrong platform, a guy like Narvaez was acquired from the minor league rule 5 from Tampa. Tampa must suck too, correct? They didn't teach him how to catch.3 points

Rodon was never going to sign for $18mm as he would have certainly rejected the QO. He was gone. He signed for $44mm over 2 years.2 points
-
I’m assuming the $30M sticks with the Padres, so the cash impact and luxury impact would be the same for the Sox (that’s how Spotrac is treating the Arenado deal). And to be clear, I wouldn’t give a ton of playing time to Hosmer. I’d basically let him DH a couples times a week against tough RHP. If he can’t be successful in that role or we couldn’t find someone absorb a portion of his deal with us, I’d simply release him. To me, this type of move is all about buying major league ready pitching depth and spreading the cost over a four year period.2 points
-
Agreed. The only possible issue though is, with no spring training, Cueto might not be able to join the team until late April. I'm guessing Hahn waits to see who's released this week before attempting to sign a pitcher who's not immediately ready.2 points

Little shocked there...did mendick make it? Romy is going to be our starting 2b in June.2 points

Anyone else having issues with ads? Seems like this issue had arisen last week or so. Both on phone and computer but makes it really rough to navigate on phone. Is this a permanent change?2 points

Stone was just on The Score with Lawrence Holmes. Said we were finalists with the Padres for Manaea but the A’s liked the Padres’ offer better. Stated pretty confidently that the Sox will continue to look for a quality starter. He did mention Montas as possibility, but pointed out that he’ll be more expensive than Manaea. He concluded by saying if the Sox don’t add another quality starter it won’t be from a lack of effort.2 points

Leury Garcia had the biggest hit of the entire post-season for the White Sox. He had 4 RBI's and 3 runs scored in 4 games. Cesar Hernandez had an 831 OPS in the playoffs. The Sox lost because their SP - which was a strength all year and absolutely was not going to be a place they looked to acquire more talent from at the deadline - fell flat on their face. No one was saying the Sox should have acquired SP's at the deadline, and no one was demanding they don't pitch Giolito, Lynn or Cease in the playoffs. The Sox could have acquried Mike Trout and Ozzie Albies at the trade deadline to fill RF and 2B and they still would have gotten destroyed by the Astros. While I despised the process and decision making that led us to Cesar and Kimbrel, it also had no impact on the playoff results and did not change the fact that the White Sox were better than the Braves before the playoffs and once the playoffs started. You can applaud the Braves moves because you appear to pick and chose when you're results oriented and when your process oriented. The Braves got lucky, end of story.2 points

A guy has to put in the work to get better. Collins is a dog. Good riddance.2 points

No offense to B>W here, just illustrating a point.2 points

Not sure if I replied to this yesterday but I'll add again if I didn't yesterday thank god Collins is gone. One of the worst pitch framers in the game.2 points

I’m not touching Bauer even if he was free. I get he wasn’t convicted of anything, but he’s got enough of a track record of general douchiness that I don’t want him in our clubhouse.2 points

Yeah, if you don’t count 80% of the rotation and a third of the lineup, we would probably be struggling.2 points
