  1. Giolito injury or not, I still can't believe Vince Velasquez is getting the home opener. That's absolutely embarrassing for the team during their "World Series Window"

  2. In loving memory of Ursula Snelius.

  3. It really sucks when I kinda remake a Jake burger hype train only for it to be immediately hijacked by the most insane posters and you can’t even talk about how Jake might be much better than prospect ranking or expectations and instead just have ti be like “ok yeah but he’s actually not tHAT good” all the time

  4. Dominguez stuff has really ticked up. He and Bilous might ultimately be better than anyone in AAA right now. Also, what a difference. This Kannapolis team is so much better than what they did last year.

  5. Vince Velazquez is starting the home opener. They should already regret not signing him.

  6. All you have to do is watch the games to know I'm right. Moncada was not good last season and he was even worse in ST. A .260 avg with 14 HRs for Moncada last season. Burger gets to that before the All-Star break if playing everyday

  7. Burger is better than Moncada or Harrison and that's a fact. They need to get him in the lineup everyday

  8. I will never understand the ill will a portion of this fanbase has against Moncada because he doesn’t play with the fire and passion.

  9. Nothing quite like making AV a short side platoon player a week after turning 24.

  10. I've seen about enough Josh Harrison already. He's going to be added to the long list of "cheap" FA signees that end up being a complete waste of money. Burger looks like a dude that can hit. Plus, he made that slick play at 2B recently. I can't find the video. It's out there though. Either Burger to 2B or Yoan to 2B.

  12. (First post… long time lurker) Good to see Thompson with a quality start. 73 pitches through five is good progress.

  13. And the twinkies blew the lead and lost in the 9th!

  14. How do you feel about stomaching him in right field?

  15. Many guys pull a hamstring when their wife is in labor....it's not that uncommon.

  16. Okay. At least I now know which posters I can easily dismiss when it comes to anything player evaluation related.

  18. Jose has been terrible against Mize (SSS but largest on team) and we all know how he performs in cold April & May weather. As such, here’s what I’d go with today: Pollock, RF Robert, CF Grandal, C# Jimenez, LF Sheets, DH* Vaughn, 1B Burger, 3B Garcia, SS# Harrison, 2B This will never happen though and Vaughn is likely riding pine today.

  19. Let the team play more of the 161 games that are left in the season.

  20. I love Moncada's bat drop too. He and Yaz have really pretty swings when they get their pitch.

  21. Bat flips are cool and all, but the Yaz "gently drop and watch" routine is one of my favorites.

  22. Careful now....if you slap him that's a 10 year Soxtalk ban.

  23. What’s it matter? Leury playing time isn’t going away, he is gonna be the starter in RF now lol

  24. I know it's fun when they get through for RBI's, but still way, wayy, wayyy too many GB's for Eloy. He needs a swing change.

  25. Amazing how much the talent level has decreased in a two week span

  26. Yeah but don't think he should be a clean up hitter. He is much better at working counts and getting on base then trying to hit a flyball or a single/double to drive guys in. He is a better 2 hitter or probably 6 or 7

  27. So, if in fact DFA candidate Vince Velasquez is the OD starter, this really sticks in your craw as a fan. And every fucking time you want to "let go" of the myriad shitty things that this FO does, something else pops up to remind us of how incompetent they are.

  28. Like I said, there is no one in the Sox system with a better story to root for than Burger. I would love to see him do great things, but these takes rank up there with Russian misinformation for their absurdity.

  29. Put Burger in the rotation. Makes just as much sense as putting him at 2B or any place other than a corner infield spot.

  30. Good thing the FO didn't think adding a quality SP was a good idea. Go team!

  31. Jake Burger, he of 16 (SIXTEEN!!) major league games is somehow irrefutably factually better than Yoan Moncada. You heard it here folks. Pack it up, we're all done here. The nonsensical hot takes flying around this place are going to melt my brain I swear...

  32. Agreed, but the frustrating/scary thing is there’s no limit to how many of your guys can get injured. Sox have already had some huge pieces get hurt...it doesn’t mean they’re safe from now on. If our opponents stay healthy for the next few weeks, nearly every pitching matchup is going to see the Sox at a disadvantage. I would argue the Sox have the worst pitching in the division currently.

  33. No wonder. This is a old man's take. There is more to baseball than batting average and home runs.

  34. I’ve started drinking already. Feels necessary.

  35. Get his ass on the IL then and get another arm up here. Sox need to find a way to find another starter or two that is stretched out and isn’t complete trash asap.

  36. Some guys are just more reserved on the field. No one actually knows the level of fire or passion Moncada plays with even if he’s not overly effusive out there. It’s all stupid projection from some fragile insecure meatheads IMO. Moncada isn’t w/o his flaws as a player but the shit people attack him for has less to do with Moncada than it does with biases in said fans.

  37. Burger should be slotted above both of those guys….?

  38. Unfortunately with Moncada out it puts more pressure on Tony to use Sheets. And I really like Gavin, but weak side platooning Vaugh would be horrible for his development. Let’s hope this is a short term thing and that Tony will rotate Andrew in several spots.

  39. Cease really needs to go five strong today. After that, it’s bit a terrifying to think we’ll have to rely on Banks, Foster, & Ruiz in some fashion. Offense will also need to show up today.

  40. This lineup needs Anderson badly. I can't remember the stats but I do remember there was a significant difference between wins and losses last year when Anderson was in the lineup vs when he wasn't.
