We got a good one in Reese McGuire. Exactly what we needed since McCann left.8 points

But why do the A's want a weak side platoon bat who can't hit RHP? But the A's always steal from us so that's unpossible.8 points

Not playing Burger against a lefty on his birthday isn't very nice of Tony.4 points

Fuck it, why not both! Three way trade, Sox get Ohtani, Trout and Montas. Angels and A’s can share Vaughn.4 points

Two reasons. First, today is a divisional game and Tuesday is not. Second, because Kopech will probably go three or four innings, which means we’re going to need to use the shit out of the bullpen today. Easier to burn through the entire bullpen with an off-day the next day.4 points

Suffice to say the homestead with patchwork pitching will be a bigger challenge. Tampa is not impressed with the Sox. Go team.3 points

Usually Ron would get absolutely torched for putting up a game winner thread when the game is still going on, but at 10-1... we'll allow it.3 points

Happy he’s back, if this was 2019 mlb with 15 teams rebuilding he’d have found a team. Hope he goes to Charlotte, cuts his k rate to mid twenties and keeps hittin bombs3 points

According to SPOTRAC, the average MLB org has 7 rostered SPs on their 40 man. The SOX, in their desperation, finally got to 7 SPs when they last-minuted their way into geezing geezer Johnny Cueto. Until Lynn and Giolito are healthy and productive, these stupid ideas of trading Vaughn will continue to pop up. It didn't have to be this way, but then, pre-injured Joe Kelly. I just hope that RH/KW aren't stupid enough to take the bait at some point, and actually trade away Vaughn.3 points

I know it says Sox are balking at the price (as they should). But if the Sox were to trade AV for 2 years of Montas, a guy who also has serious durability issues, I will lose all faith in Sox FO. Vaughn is the real deal. He’s not a guy you trade away.3 points

JFC…I hate these “let’s give everyone a start in the first series” type lineups. Grandal has a 152 wRC+ against LHP the past three seasons whereas McGuire has been terrible against lefties (15 wRC+) and pretty solid against righties (102 wRC+). Maybe just wait until next series to get him a start to better optimize the lineup each game? And then you have Burger on the bench despite destroying LHP in AAA last year (1.035 OPS). Realistically he should be at 3B every time we face a southpaw, but if you feel compelled to play Harrison today why not do so at 2B? Mendick has reverse spits (55 wRC+ vs LHP in his short career) and really has no business getting playing time with Tim now back and Leury actually being slightly above league average against LHP. I know this will trigger some people here, but I truly believe Tony doesn’t understand how platooning / splits work and it’s extremely frustrating as he’s leaving a lot of value on the table.3 points

Vince Velazquez is starting the home opener. They should already regret not signing him.3 points
