The Sox spend half a decade rebuilding, only to waste it on Tony LaRussa. It just hurts.13 points

My overly emotional reaction is "Who fucking cares, they all deserve to go down with the ship." JR, RH, KW....everyone. I don't want any of them around the team I root for.6 points

This is how I felt the morning before Opening Day. I was pretty excited for the lockout to end and see the rush of free agency moves, trades, etc. to bust down the door, and there was nothing. All the while, the rest of the Division was making moves here and there to better compete. I felt like Randy Quaid from Major League 2. And here we are now, two weeks into the season, and all those holes that we could have filled, but didn't, have already come back to bite us. Lynn and Giolito are hurt, forcing us to see Vince Velazquez, Dallas Kuechel and Jimmy Lambert start 6 of our first 12 games. A revolving door of crap in RF and 2B. We have to hear about Cleveland not being a "good matchup" because our right handed heavy lineup. All things we could have addressed and didn't. I don't even know if this post makes sense ... don't care to proof5 points

I actually do think that's where media/hype plays into things. There was a weird feeling going into this year. Fans weren't excited like they should have been. Some of it had to do with the lockout, but a lot of it had to do with the feeling the Sox really didn't do anything to help the team. There wasn't all this buzz going into what should be billed as season with World Series hopes. It just didn't feel like that for whatever reason, and I think it shows.5 points

To be fair, Tony never said he was running the bases well, just running them...5 points

Tony, once again, putting his ego above the team. He's an incorrigible old fuck that cares more about being proven "right" about illogical decisions than just going out and doing the job of manager. What could possibly be so difficult about putting together a lineup and sticking with it outside of the occasional shuffle to account for SP handedness, injuries, or starters just needing a break? Winning managers don't pull this shit. And I refuse to believe that this won't inevitably lead to him losing this team. These guys are professionals, work hard to win games, and have waited a long time to compete for a ring. You think they're happy with this b.s.? You think these lineups make sense to them? How do you think Engel and Vaughn feel about playing for this numbskull? How about uber-competitive guys like TA or Lucas? Who, outside of Jose, has the clout in that clubhouse to put Tony on the spot and call him out for this stupidity? Is Rick fearful of losing his job if he challenges Tony? This is all such a clusterfuck and it's all because of our dumbass owner.5 points

this just means the starters need way more rest. If Robert had more rest this never would have happened.4 points

Fire should have been lit from day 1. This organization is either arrogant or stupid......actually both. The changed nothing in the offseason and are very baseball stupid.4 points

Every team in baseball turns SS's into utility players except the Sox. They think first baseman can be utility players.4 points

Leury has 2 fucking hits on the season. He's got more errors than hits and he's hitting fucking third. It's so absurd.4 points

The thing is Leury would be absolutely fine doing exactly what he is good at, which should be getting 350-400 ABs a year around the IF, and OF if needed, not really starting, but getting about 4 days a week in the field mostly around getting the real starters days off. There is also nothing wrong with giving him specific match ups. The problem isn't Leury, it's how Tony is using him.4 points

For the record, Francona has Jose Ramirez in the line up for the 3rd time in 24 hours.4 points

I'd literally prefer Hahn, a man with zero on field coaching experience, manage this team. The manager's one job is to put his team in the best position to win. For 175 games now, we can clearly say that TLR does just the opposite more often than not. I've said it before and I will say it again, you can't deny TLR's management resume. He is, in fact, a HOF. But this just a different game than the one he managed. He's drunk at the wheel. This team isn't good enough to coast through this season.4 points

Imagine wasting your championship window hiring a crusty old drunk manager that throws consistent games away... This is indefensible.4 points

Of all of the players on the roster, why is Tony most worried about protecting Leury Garcia, and not literally anyone else?4 points
-
I still say that this team would be just as good if not better with Rick Renteria as manager. There is no reason for TLR to be here other than to ease JR's guilt for letting him be fired in 86. I'll be ecstatic when he finally goes home and has nothing else to do with the White Sox.4 points

They’re playing like a team that is up 15 games with a month left. Such a cocky organization that hasn’t accomplished shit in the postseason with this group.3 points

This is the most important part of this play. If Leury is paying attention to Luis, Robert can stop at 3rd, and the Sox are still in business.3 points

#1 is Lynn doesn't happen if the Sox bring Wheeler in.3 points

It’s amazing to not score a run on a double when guys are on first and second lol3 points

It’s just astonishing this is the fucking product we’re seeing on the field given where this team was to end last year. My six year old could have put together a better team on MLB The Show.3 points

Take the 89 mph fastball down the dick; swing at the slider out of the zone lol. Eloy is something.3 points

The team itself is the bigger issue right now than the manager. No one is hitting and no one is catching the ball. We can be mad at the Tony / Leury thing all we want, but this team is playing like shit.3 points

Oh my god this just reawakened a memory of when I had a Road to the Show player hitting .380 with a .375 OBP and some absurd OPS for the Cardinals...and Tony LaRussa benched him for not taking enough walks. I went from starting RF to randomly playing out of position, where my defensive stats were bad. So I kept getting buried on the bench. Oh my fucking god it was a prophecy.3 points

I'm gonna get this out of the way now. Go fuck yourself LaRussa!!!!3 points

By "it" do you mean Leury Garcia? It's harsh, but I am listening.3 points
-
It's not just that he actively hurts the teams chances of winning (obviously he does) but he also makes the team so much less enjoyable to root for. It's brutal in every way possible.3 points

Sheets playing over Vaughn is incredibly frustrating, but the Sox are 1 injury away to any one of Abreu, Eloy or Vaughn from him becoming someone who would be essential to the lineup, at least against RHP. He also has 5 years of team control left. Trading him away just for the sake of it would be awfully shortsighted. Hahn is the guy to blame for not prioritizing any of the ~10+ FA SP's that would have upgraded the rotation and signed for affordable contracts. He backed the team into a corner where it was seemingly Manaea or bust to improve the rotation. He gave Leury a 3 year deal so it's not like he can be DFA'd if TLR is going to insist on batting him 3rd for whatever reason. I just don't have any sympathy for him right now because he's as responsible as anyone for why the roster is in the shape its in.3 points

The record itself isn't the problem. Dumb baseball should never be acceptable.3 points

At what point does Hahn step in and say....dude wtf??? Are we trying to get swept.3 points

If this were a little league team, the parents would be fighting in the parking lot over LaRussa batting his son 3rd.3 points

I’m sure glad they didn’t add a lefty impact bat to the roster this offseason.3 points
-
Then can you explain Sheets (basically zero OF experience) in the more difficult corner position (RF) and Haseley (good OF defender) in the "stash Eloy out there" position?3 points
-
So if we go with that logic and say that's true, you admitting the White Sox, right in the heart of their contention window.....did nothing to improve the team in the offseason.3 points

But those of course aren’t the only options. What about not giving Leury Garcia 15 million dollars? That’s always an option…you know, not to do that. It’s amazing the water some will carry for this organization. Let’s say Rodon makes the All-Star game this year, the second year in a row. This would be after putting up a 5 WAR season for the Sox in 2021, and doing it in his late 20’s mind you. They let him walk away and got NOTHING in return. Zero. Meanwhile, it’s April 21st and there is serious discussion taking place about Tanner Banks having a spot in this rotation, and the Sox have already had starts from Vince Velazquez and Jimmy Lambert. Come on…3 points
