  3. When I got home last night, my better half was watching "Moneyball". Not the greatest movie but I sat down with it on in the background. What I thought was funny and never caught before, when Beane trades away Giambi and Pena, he also sends some guys to the minors.....one of those guys was Menechino. I laughed when I heard that and thought of this thread.

  4. They aren't even treating day to day games as important. Kinda makes it hard to get riled up about home field advantage for the playoffs.

  5. Although I don't believe this would actually happen, assuming Harrison doesn't hit and is let go, it would be super ballsy if the Sox promoted Lenyn from B'ham to try and tackle 2B. He would need to be added to the 40-man this offseason anyways if they wanted to keep him around.

  6. Yolbert beginning to show some extra base hit power is a great sign. The Sox should be running out of reasons not to call him up.

  7. Well hopefully this means the Sox will start holding all employees to a higher standard of conduct.

  16. Until the manager starts treating this like a playoff team. I am taking the Jim Mora approach.

  17. Yeah, I’m not ready for this thread when they’re not even in the top 6. Worry about seeding once you have the division, you can’t get a seed higher than 4 until you have a solid lead on the Twins.

  18. They did a horrific job of drafting. I know some say the talent is on the major league roster but it's really only 2 players. Sure Vaughn and Crochet would make the top of the list look better but the system would still be near or at the bottom. Picking towards the top of every round for as long as they and to have this little depth in the system shows what a terrible draft strategy they had.

  19. Yeah my thoughts exactly. They could do the conservative approach and send Yolbert to Chicago and have Lenyn take his spot in Charlotte, which I think is more likely to happen. It's very possible they use him in a trade, but I'd have some pause in that regard because guys don't normally hit like that in Birmingham, DUDES hit like that in Birmingham. Yoelqui just homered as well.

  22. Oh, it was a glorious thread when they acquired him. I laughed out loud many times. Look for it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The thread is currently on page 9.

  23. They have a 6 man rotation atm and an off day monday. Literally zero reason to do a BP game or call up a SP.

  24. I have been stuck on Keuchel starts this year. They did win his last start against them. A few years ago, it seemed every game I had tickets for were James Shields starts. Those really sucked. The games were almost always over in the first couple of innings.

  27. My point is that a lead on the Twins isn't relevant. Treat the gap to the Astros/Yankees like it's the gap to the division lead.

  28. Mena seems low doesn't he? I haven't been able to keep up that much, but his stats and the way this board talks about him, I was a little surprised to see him at 19.

  30. Dealing with minor leg issue (can just imagine Fathom's reaction to that description) May 19, 2022 Moncada felt discomfort in his leg during Thursday's game against the Royals, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ANALYSIS Moncada didn't exit the game and went 1-for-5 with two strikeouts. Merkin added that Moncada was moving around fine after the game, and manager Tony La Russa also downplayed the issue. Given that context, the issue doesn't appear likely to cost Moncada time, but it will be worth confirming that he is in the lineup to start the White Sox weekend series against the Yankees. https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=13652

  31. Also, @bmags, how have we never had a discussion about that beautiful center field dragon???

  32. There is always hope. The 1st 38 games do not a season make. Despite the off season suckfest as a fan you have to take pleasure in individual performances and realize that the end result is usually not winning the World Series no matter how good you are. That's really all you can do as a Sox fan. We can discuss it all endlessly of course and I know in my head who I blame but we watch baseball and the Sox because we love them both. Winning is a lot more fun than losing but am I enraged or depressed over them ? Hell no just another season to enjoy along with what is almost always the same end result.

  36. Dont stay in the Loop, its not safe to walk around anymore once the commuter crowd clear out. Stay in Streeterville or River North if you really want to you’ll probably be fine. Stay away from large groups of youths congregating anywhere.

  37. Well when you have arguably the best catcher in the game, there’s gonna be a dropoff. Fangraphs quite literally just yesterday ranked Sox #1 in terms of catcher depth chart after the trade. So yeah..
