Josh Harrison played for the Tigers in 2019. They lost 114 games. His offensive stats are almost identical this year in close to the same amount of play. He was released be one of the worst teams ever. The Sox move him up to the 2 hole.9 points

In any other corporate situation, steps would be taken to oust the CEO when things go bad. But JR has controlling interest of the stock, and the board is old and infirm anyway. As I have said before, other board members stopped caring a long time ago. What should happen is that a good and experienced baseball man should come in and take control. He should hire his own manager and coaching staff. Then he should do an extensive analysis of the organization and then make appropriate changes. And he must have no past ties to the White Sox. Of course, this won't happen. But short-term changes will not turn the club around. Things have to be done differently for the simple reason past practices have shown things just haven't worked. Firing LaRussa would help, but a lot more has to be done or this rebuild will fail big time. Then what will they do? Another tank job?5 points

Pick up the bottle TLR, close your office door and watch Fox News. Then fall asleep, take your morning shower and sit in your soiled underwear while you manage another loss. What a bum and joke you are, TLR.5 points

I'm really starting to wonder if Tony's insistence on off-days is having an opposite reaction on player health given that these are all soft tissue injuries. My wholly uninformed take is muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc., benefit from usage...keeps them loose, prevents tightening, etc. Or, to take a step further out on the conspiracy plank, could it be these guys are constantly lollygagging in practice, the gym, team stretches, etc., and then shock their bodies by actually trying in games...Tony has made it abundantly clear that he puts a lot of faith in conserving health, which means they'd likely not hear a peep if they were caught lollygagging. I don't know. Something changed since 2020 and TLR is the biggest change that's occurred.4 points

Time to shake things up. While very little of this will actually happen, these are all moves a competent organization would consider in hopes of righting a sinking ship: Fire Tony La Russa - This is the biggest no-brainer move possible. Tony is a lifeless zombie who has no business being a major league manager. The game has clearly passed him by and it’s evident by his terrible decision-making day after day. Time for Tony to head back to California where he can get blackout drunk on the daily and go rescue some animals. Make Jirschele Manager - Forgot bringing back Ozzie or hiring another former player without experience, just go with the best managerial option in the system. Jirschele has been hyped up quite a bit for years now and the major league team could use a young leader who actually has a pulse. Fire Rick Hahn - I’ve been a Hahn supporter for some time and gave him a free pass in the past for lackluster moves as he was getting the organization in a better place, but this offseason was so bad / confusing that I can no longer look the other way. He must be held accountable for failing address the same holes for multiple offseasons. Make KW Defacto GM - We are in our window and can’t afford letting Hahn oversee another trade deadline. And when you need a big move, there is only one man for the job and that’s Trader Kenny. I know handling the day to day at this point is not what he’s looking for, but Jerry can make this happen by telling him it will only be a 1 1/2 season gig. Replace Menechino - Honestly, I don’t even have a replacement idea here, just bring in any new voice. I am so fucking sick of watching everyone regressing and it being groundball city night after night. It may not seem fair to make Menechino the fall guy for players underperforming, but unfortunately we can’t fire all the players so he has to go. DFA Big Energy - Our big 2B addition has been an utter disaster. Hard to believe that he was the best we could do, but it ain’t a Rick Hahn offseason without signing some free agents who will be DFAed by the trade deadline. And while the dude may be a great clubhouse guy, his bat is simply unplayable at this point in career and we have better options in the minors. Free Yogurt - One of those better options is sitting right there in AAA. This kid won’t be a star, but he’s a massive upgrade over both Big Energy & Legend. And at 25 years of age, it’s time to give him a look. If he doesn’t take advantage of the opportunity, then give Lenyn Sosa a shot or even possibly Romy Gonzalez if he can figure his shit out. Acquire Bryan Reynolds - I don’t care about some Cuban OFs in AA / A+, the Sox need to finally address RF while also adding a LH bat. With Kenny as our GM, it’s time to make a bold move. And yes, I know the cost won’t be cheap despite a slow start and it will certainly deplete an already weakened system. I’m sure many people will hate this, but I’m thinking that Ramos, Kath, Popeye, & Mena gets it done. Demote Sheets - With Reynolds in tow, we no longer need to leverage Sheets as our one left-handed power bat. And quite frankly, there will be way too many bats to fit him in. As a Gavin fan coming into the season, I’ve been very disappointed with what I’ve seen out of him and this year he’s been passed on the depth chart by Jake Burger. Make Eloy a DH - I argued against this in the past, but it’s time to put Eloy in a bubble and make him a permanent DH. Even that won’t protect him from running the bases, but we must limit the opportunities to injure himself. And with a new hitting coach in place, he’s even more important to this offense. This means that Vaughn becomes the primary LF and Pollock rotates across all three OF spots. What do you guys think? What else could be done to fix this mess? Share your thoughts and feel free to rip away.4 points

Of course TLR differs. He is the smartest guy in the room don't you know? He is a nearly 80 yr old man who like most 80 year old men is stubborn as hell and isn't going to change his mind about anything. Hey Tony. The game, like most everything else passed you by 20 years ago.4 points

Regardless of my feelings about Kapler, Kaepernick, or LaRussa - I would suggest that maybe with where his team is sitting in the standings the right call when asked this question is to express sympathy for the victims but say that he’s not going to comment more because this team needs to focus on baseball.3 points

Good for TLR. He has right to do the norm just as Kapler has the right to protest. Anyone looking to be upset over this is simply just looking to be upset. But yeah, I am upset with his line-ups.3 points

Harrison and his .174 BA & .248 OBP really hit 2nd. And the pickled brain corpse really thought it was a good idea? It couldn’t be more obvious he’s grasping at straws and doesn’t have a fucking clue what he’s doing.3 points

Protest by San Francisco's Gabe Kapler brings support from some fellow managers, but Chicago White Sox's Tony La Russa differs https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34000971/protest-san-francisco-gabe-kapler-brings-support-some-fellow-managers-chicago-white-sox-tony-la-russa-differs https://kaplifestyle.com/2022/05/27/home-of-the-brave/ But we weren’t given bravery, and we aren’t free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her children. They blocked parents trying to organize to charge in to stop the shooter, including a father who learned his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren’t free when politicians decide that the lobbyist and gun industries are more important than our children’s freedom to go to school without needing bulletproof backpacks and active shooter drills.2 points

Moncada, out and apparently unavailable - since he has seen no action since Tuesday. Assuming Garcia is hurt, since he has not played this weekend. But, by no means put anyone on the injured list - because this team is so good there is no need for depth when you have McGuire and Harrison to take care of business with the bases loaded. The number of games the Sox have willingly played short-handed this year is pretty amazing.2 points

I don't expect them to do anything significant at this point. I think we have to stop pretending they're in the middle of some fictitious "window." That was PR to sell the rebuild. In their last 122 games, they are 62-60. That is not a juggernaut. The cost of the improvements necessary for them to right the ship, even in this weak division, will not ultimately justify going all in for 2022. I am still haunted by the team's denial that they were contenders in 2016, which led them to make the Shields trade. I am terrified they're gonna trade what few assets they have in the minors for a series of one and two year band-aids that are not much different from the Shields, Yonder, Alonso, AJ Pollock, Josh Harrison, Craig Kimbrel, Joe Kelly, Adam Eaton, John Jay etc etc etc that they have acquired over the past few years. I say, they should unload the dead weight on this roster like Harrison and try to get something at the deadline for Pollock, Kelly, and Graveman (if the first two rebound). I think you also have to listen on Giolito. He's not signing an extension and the Sox aren't giving him $250 million. I'd also listen on Lynn and almost anyone else not name Robert, Anderson, Vaughn, or Kopech. This team had flaws in its construction that need to be addressed. Look at the Padres. They rethought their team, got a real manger in there and jumped up significantly. The Sox can do that, but it's unrealistic to believe that's going to happen in 2022. I'd shift focus to 2023 and beyond.2 points

Here is our lineup by OPS: .895 .816 .714 .732 .508 .600 .650 .482 .519 That’s got to be worse than our rebuilding years lineups.2 points

Real question, but is this our worst lineup of the season? I mean, Jake Burger is batting 3rd, we’re playing both Sheets & Vaughn in the OF corners, and we wrap it up with McGuire & Big Energy in the 8th & 9th spots. Good god Tony is a mad man.2 points

It's a common mistake. A conflation of ideas that don't fully coincide. As a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer, I fully realize that the symbolic expressions of the Anthem and Flag are not somehow exclusive property of service members or Vets or the Department of Defense for that matter. Having said that, I'm pretty much on TLR's side on this one. His lineups and pitching selections, among other things --- not so much. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend! And hopefully we all remember what this weekend is about.2 points

61-57 plus 1-3 in the playoffs since the All Star break last year. It’s a mediocre team as is, but they think they are a WS contender. Sign bad players. Make a bad managerial hire. Fall in love with your worst players. It’s all happened, and it’s a mess. Like was stated last night, they almost assuredly will eventually blame this on the hitting coach, fire him, and think problem solved. But it won’t be solved until they are done with this mediocre season, with the media taking shots at LaRussa, where he tells JR he’s tired and wants to go home. That will give them a chance at fixing one problem. Another should be RH/KW. I do believe KW is ready to retire. His wife retired. JR appears to think KW is the greatest talent evaluator ever, so he might beg him to stay, but hopefully he doesn’t, and they pull a Bulls and get rid of Hahn who seems like a nice guy, obviously can speak with anyone and is very bright, but not very good at building baseball teams. Then hire someone who has a clue. Someone who realizes Gavin Sheets isn’t going into the HOF. Someone who realizes what this team really needs. There’s still enough talent to be pretty awesome with a couple of shrewd moves, but the people who are capable of making them aren’t currently employed at 35th and Shields. That has been proven time and time again. Although I am sure he feels for his former players, somewhere Ricky Renteria has to be laughing his ass off.2 points

"I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith, as there's a drive into deep left field by Story and that'll be a home run. And so that'll make it a 6-0 ballgame. I don't know if I'm going to be putting on this uniform again."2 points
