I don't think I have ever hated a manager as much as I do Tony. Just seeing his old ass in the dugout or walk out to the mound makes me angry. Also, I might have a problem.8 points

If I was working the Sox beat, here is what I would ask Hahn or TLR: "Spring Training 2022, you told us this team had World Series aspirations, that was the goal this year after having back-to-back first-round playoff exits. It's now June, you're below .500 and almost every position player on the roster is having a historically down season. Additionally, the amount of muscle injuries the team has faced seems to be quite dramatic. What is being done to fix this? Both the record and also the individual performances of your key players? As we get farther into June, is there a sense of urgency from the coaching staff, front office and players?" As a fan, I don't want them to just "make a move" to make a move, I think that's stupid. However, this current concoction of ingredients isn't working. Just isn't. It's also not still April, it's now June. You can't just sit here and hope it fixes itself.7 points

Yoan Moncada's idol growing up. Loves him so much he decided to go on a similar 3 for 34 run for the Sox.6 points

"So I was sitting in my cubicle today and I realized ever since Hahn was promoted, um, every single day the Sox have been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day I watch White Sox Baseball, that is the worst day of my fandom." What about today? Is today the worst day of your fandoml? "Yeah' Wow, that's messed up.5 points

Spend $50M on a bullpen that never gets used and fail to fix an offense that can't score more than 3 runs a game. Brilliant team building.3 points

People saying they will jump ship to another team wont and cant. It wont be the same. You know it, stop saying it. You will always be here.3 points

It’s so strange, Jays have a good bullpen and don’t have to spend 50 million on it3 points

He does. But a different manager isn't suddenly going to raise the team average a hundred points or get Harrison to run faster. They suck. They are not a good baseball team lead by an even worse manager, all the result of a shitty owner and front office3 points

Wait shouldn't we WANT to leave at least half the team behind???3 points

Sox still have Rays, Dodgers, Astros, and Jays again over the next 3 weeks. Could get ugly.3 points

Sheets is simply pathetic. What a terrible idea to give him so many at bats this year.3 points

But here is the worst part and I don't know how you get past it as a fan (at least I don't know how...): Even if they "re-tooled" or even tried to "rebuild" again...why should we think for one second this FO would get it right this time? There is zero evidence to support they know what they are doing. So it's kind of like what's the point to all this? What are we doing if we know this FO, including ownership, is just stuck in this mode of constant mediocrity? That's why this season is so hard to stomach, for me at least. It really was the nail in the coffin for me that we just aren't going to get anywhere with the current structure in place. It's a 2000's Blackhawks situation...3 points

I don't think people on this board realize how big chicago metro area is. People have been talking about how houston will overtake chicago since I was in elementary school, and it will still be 8-10 more years until that happens. Nashville is wonderful, I wish it the best. Nashville is slightly bigger than power metro Milwaukee, and it is already straining under the growth. It's actually quite difficult to scale up cities quickly before they hit growing pains that can constrain it's population growth. See tacoma, see Denver. By then a new hot, cheaper city (northwest arkansas, likely) will pop up and be the new place we think the sox will move that is obviously better. By sheer market size and growth, there should be no greater sports market than Tampa. Yet we are talking about moving the Rays out of there. It took atlanta a long time to build up a lot of its sports fandom. There are no guarantees in this. The white sox have a built in floor much higher than any of these new markets, and the league can just expand rather than move teams.3 points

The third day 11-20 is basically more beneficial than late day two now. The White Sox will absolutely be “punting” picks. With a tiny bonus pool, they’ll try to spend close to $6 million on their first 4 guys. To pay for those players, you need to draft seniors in 5-10 for like $10K. It’s smart and lots of teams do this. In rounds 11-20, you can spend $125K without it counting against your pool. For example, taking a college arm ranked in top 200 in 7th round and paying him $200K costs $200K against the pool. Doing it in round 11 counts $75K only. For FutureSox, I always list the names in order of bonus given instead of round because it’s much more significant. In order to use the pool space, you have to sign all the players in the first 10 rounds. That’s basically why it’s done this way. Even the punted picks have value though. Horn and Weems were used in trades. Sousa is in the big leagues. Gil Luna will pitch in the majors. My advice is to pay more attention to the players chosen on day 3 than in rounds 5-10.3 points

Definitely. As all sports orgs have seen the last 30 years, moving to growing, transient populations like Tampa or Charlotte are surefire ways to get tons of revenue.3 points

I mean even Jerry had to be looking at this 21-25 window as huge opportunity to make $ and increase the value of the franchise before he passes away. The payroll is the highest its ever been in team history; he didn't do that to sport a .500 club. He also didn't get to where he is in life being a fucking idiot. I just cannot for the life of me fathom that the folks in charge of this operation are OK with what is going on. How in the flying fuck do you allow this to continue to happen? Its all so mind boggling.3 points
-
Any sane buyer of the White Sox would try to move them out of the hellhole of Chicago/Illinois . North Carolina has a population of 10 million+ and doesn't have a single MLB club. Charlotte would be a logical move.3 points

Billionaires are all over the place in Chicago, investing in it every day. I think namecalling is boring and unproductive as well, which is why I responding to the characterization of Chicago as a hellhole. Any reason you didn't respond to that? Nevermind, I know.2 points

Mendick, Engel and Burger all have better OPS vs RHP than McGuire (and Garcia) this season. Mendick also better than Sheets. It's pretty clear at this point that TLR is not looking at data when making lineups. Not even a little bit.2 points

I would still rather have Ventura pre clubhouse falling apart than TLR. That said if 2015-16 completely collapsed no Shields trade and things might have been better than where the Sox find themselves standing now. We can't even succeed at failing well.2 points

yeah this has felt so much like 2015 to me. Just unwatchable. And as I pointed out a few weeks ago that team actually hovered close to competitiveness until june before a long losing streak. Everything is a single. Every homer is solo. Everything is difficult.2 points

At this point, I'm convinced TLR is trying to piss people off because he knows he has immunity.2 points

They're all complicit in this. No one is forcing either to stay. If they hated it that much, and they're that talented of executives, they'll get another crack at running a ML team. But TLR has been here for over 200 games now...and they're still here so they are all in this together.2 points

Again, 100% wrong. The #1 pick in the 2021 draft was signed for 2 million underslot. In the first round alone teams picked lower rated players to sign to lesser bonuses at the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 13th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 24th, 26th, 27th, 28th, and 29th picks. Also I know from the top of my head that the Mets punted on a ton of picks trying to make room for Rocker. I mean if you don't believe me, pull up this list of draft picks and signings. In the 10th round alone there are FOUR players who signed for slot. 4! In the 10th round the Sox signed their pick for 20k. In that same round 6 other teams signed their picks for less money, including the Dodgers, Padres, Twins, Cubs, Braves, Giants. Take a team like Tampa who signed a player for just 3k underslot in round 10. Their 9th round pick was signed for $17,600, or about 133k underslot. Texas had a 2nd round pick signed for $830k, or $1.1 million underslot. Houston had a 5th round pick signed for $47.5k or 300k+ underslot. So yes, I don't know what your made up definition of "punt" is, but the Sox are exhibiting the same behavior as the other teams who are the most successful in the MLB draft.2 points

Considering the Brewers are worth less than the Sox and 25th on the overall list, I would say that was a pretty dumb thing to do to your investment.2 points

The White Sox would never move out of the southside nor would MLB allow them too. Would make 0 sense.2 points

It's insane that he would give up on Pollock, a Lifetime outfielder, in favor of two guys who have played first their entire lives. I'm not saying you are wrong, it's just that is fucking crazy2 points

Moncada has been bad, but dude hasn’t even started 2 weeks worth of games and the pitchforks are out in full force. He’s not a perfect player but any means, but he’s a good one and one that does a lot of things this team does super poorly when he’s playing well. I am frustrated with him too, but He deserves a lot more patience than 2 weeks worth of games.2 points

I think the Sox are a sleeping giant for whoever might end up buying them eventually. There will be a lot of bidders if they become available. Just because Reinsdorf has under utilized the franchise, doesn't mean others won't see the potential that he never exploited. If Jerry lives on for a number of more years and it comes after the Bears have moved to Arlington Heights, my guess is that would be the focus of new ownership. They could tap in to a far larger suburban market than the market they've currently enjoyed on the south side.2 points

That was 100% on Harrison.2 points

AV isn’t good in the OF, but he’s not a risk to severely injure himself or others while in the field. Eloy has proven to be. Eloy is a DH and should never play LF again unless it’s an emergency. It’s not even a question to me. Eloy is a full time DH long before AV.2 points
