If this team really does pull it together and make the playoffs, a lot of good things had to happen in a shorter period of time. To get to 87 wins they need to go 64-49 the rest of this season, which is .556 baseball. As of now, I am seeing nothing tell me that this group is going to be able to play that kind of baseball.7 points

You can sense that the Sox are getting close to breaking out. They are not giving up6 points

I don’t either, but I wish they would find a better stand in. Beckham is just awful on the ears.5 points

"Hello Peter. What's happening? Um, I'm going to need you to go ahead and come in to watch the Sox lose tomorrow. So if you could be here around 3, that would be great. Umkay. Oh, oh, and I almost forgot. Ah, I'm also going to need to you to go ahead and come in to watch the Sox lose on Sunday, too. Kay. We, ah, lost some Sox fans this week, and um, we need to sort of play catchup. Thaaanks."4 points

I don't see any difference between losing in the ALDS and the World Series. In fact, losing in the World Series is worse than losing in the ALDS because it gives you even more false hope.3 points

Hahn meets the media at the start of basically every new homestand. I think it's pretty rare at this point for Kenny to talk to the media. Honestly, I put more blame at the feet of the media that covers the team. There doesn't seem to be one guy on the beat that really gets on them and will ask the really tough questions. Everything is asked seemingly with a safety net built-in for them to answer. Additionally, Hahn speak is so bland anyway, I'm not really sure what we would even expect to hear.3 points

Where's Stone anyway? Why does someone whose job only requires him to work for six months take so much time off during those six months? Not that I miss Stone as much as I don't care for Gordon's filling in.2 points

I've defended Yoan more than anyone on here, but batting him 3rd against McClanahan is insanity. It should be Burger at 3rd & probably Yoan on the IL.2 points

Hahn couldn’t have messed up the last two years more. He needs to be fired first.2 points

I know you're always scoreboard watching (and I appreciate that so I don't have to as much) but you may want to just drop it. These guys absolutely suck and until they prove otherwise it makes 0 difference what Minnesota does2 points

I thought he might have strained his neck watching rocket after rocket go by him his last outing.2 points

He's not exactly lighting Charlotte on fire, but yeah, fuck it. He's hitting for more power than he ever has before and like you said, an actual outfielder. Also, he's two years older, not younger, than Vaughn. Meanwhile, Sheets needs to go down to Charlotte to find his swing again.2 points

No you're not stupid, it's the manager who is stupid besides being moronic, idiotic and brain dead.2 points

So a struggling Moncada hitting righty is somehow a better option in the 3 spot than Robert vs a LHP. Someone explain that to me, because I'm obviously stupid.2 points

If it was a couple of guys, sure. But when the whole team regresses at once, and when guys don't even seem interested anymore, that's a red flag.2 points

We usually make a trip to the Trop when the Sox visit St. Pete but I'm so upset and depressed with this team and the manager right now that we will probably take a pass this year. If we go it will be on Sunday so we have time to make our final decision.2 points

I have thought this also. I think Tony "walks away" if the Sox win the WS or don't make the playoffs. I think losing in the playoffs makes it probably better than 50/50 he returns, although why they would bring him back is really silly. It's silly enough he's still there.2 points

Since the rebuild Kenny Williams rarely ever speaks. and trust me that is by design. Hahn occasionally talks, but it's nothing more than a lot of BS words with no valid meaning or validity. We all know why Hahn can't tell the fans why this team has become a trainwreck. This is all on our demented owner JR who obviously refuses to come forward and speak up. Why would he? He would then have to admit he made a colossal dumbfounding mistake of hiring his demented buddy TLR to correct his mistake from 35 years ago. The fact is, as bad as this season is right now, it's not nearly as bad as it needs to get for change to happen. As much as it pains me to say this and it would be brutally agonizing to watch...but this season needs to blow up and implode horribly for any change to occur. The Sox not only would need to miss the playoffs, but miss it by a lot...by finishing 3rd or 4th or worse in our division. It would take a good 10-15 games under 500 to create change. JR, Hahn and TLR all need to be humiliated nationally, as well as locally by playing in front of near empty 5k attendances. All the major sports networks need to crucify them for their ignorance and incompetence to hope for any change. Even then...JR is demented and dumb enough to where he might not do anything. The fact is JR is 86 years old. He is too ignorant, senile and stubborn to make any changes until it gets really ugly. It sucks I have to say this but it's a fact. Trust me I have been a diehard fan my entire life and was so excited for the rebuild in 2016...especially as we got close the last few years. This has been painful to watch and has ruined my summer Sox viewing. The only other thing that could change this if one of his sons, preferably Michael was allowed to run the team without interference and meddling from Jerry. Look how ugly it got with Jerry's Chicago Bulls with Pax/Heard running the show. JR did nothing! The only reason it got semi turned around is when his son Michael became the president and 100 percent fully in charge...without his dad meddling in the operations to screw it up. Once that happened, Paxson was removed for Arturas Karnisovas. Michael obviously was smart enough and saw enough of the pathetic John Paxson and made the necessary change. It's real simple! It's either JR passes away, sells the team, goes into full unrecoverable dementia, or let's one of his sane sons run the club...before the Sox players and fans have any remote possibility of change and stopping this trainwreck. Sorry to be so negative, but I'm just being a realist going on the long predicable track record of Jerry Reinsdorf. I'm tired of watching my favorite sports team be ruined and embarrassed! For God's Sake, change needs to happen! Wake the F#*k up Reinsdorf!2 points

Look, last year sucked the way it ended, but there is nothing like playoff baseball. Even if it isn't fleeting, it is sure as hell better than speculating on what he will do with the 15th pick in the draft.2 points

Cool. Then winning and losing during the season doesn't matter and you can no longer complain about their record. Good to know.2 points

This is actually a board of people who are thrilled watching someone turn themselves from a late round draft pick into getting mlb run like Danny Mendick.2 points

Is it possible that several of our guys are underperforming because they're tired of playing for this guy? I get that professional athletes should be self-motivated, and it appears that at least TA and Jose are, but perhaps TLR is wearing some other guys down? Edited to add: I'm not saying this to make excuses for players who aren't performing, I'm just suggesting that TLR's impact might be more severe than we are even saying.2 points

They went way overslot in rounds 2,3, and 5. It’s the only way to do that. I’d rather have Kath, Burke and McDougal instead of playing it straight2 points

The third day 11-20 is basically more beneficial than late day two now. The White Sox will absolutely be “punting” picks. With a tiny bonus pool, they’ll try to spend close to $6 million on their first 4 guys. To pay for those players, you need to draft seniors in 5-10 for like $10K. It’s smart and lots of teams do this. In rounds 11-20, you can spend $125K without it counting against your pool. For example, taking a college arm ranked in top 200 in 7th round and paying him $200K costs $200K against the pool. Doing it in round 11 counts $75K only. For FutureSox, I always list the names in order of bonus given instead of round because it’s much more significant. In order to use the pool space, you have to sign all the players in the first 10 rounds. That’s basically why it’s done this way. Even the punted picks have value though. Horn and Weems were used in trades. Sousa is in the big leagues. Gil Luna will pitch in the majors. My advice is to pay more attention to the players chosen on day 3 than in rounds 5-10.2 points
