  1. This is great!! I am Proud Dad of a gay Son. While Texas has its major issues, Dallas is a HUGE ally for the community. I am proud my team is an ally too!

  3. I see Ron is now trying to use his Abreu powers on the entire team. Smart.

  5. I'm still hoping in my lifetime everyone is like Liam and it will seem odd to single him out.

  7. Sometimes I think about how differently my life might have played out had I been born today, and it makes me a little sad. But then I get over it, because I start thinking about all of the generations of queer people who came before me, and how exponentially worse they had it. And if I really think about it, I realize that there has never been a more supportive time, in all human history, than today. And that will be true of tomorrow, and every tomorrow after that. We are living in a perpetual golden age.

  8. TA should be back this weekend. You have to figure Mendick has played his way to a roster spot. Harrison is probably in his final days as a White Sox.

  9. Lenyn Sosa hitting .340 with 13 HRs through 57 games. That's at a young age in a pitchers park. The guy has been absolutely ridiculous. I understand hot streaks, but 57 games is a good sample size. I'm really excited for him.

  11. I’m glad Hendriks has a huge heart. My twin sister is gay and I am glad she is accepted and loved by her family and her girlfriend. There is a lot more to do with acceptance in our country, particularly in my opinion with older people and people who have deeply held religious beliefs. As a country, we are stronger with diversity and that includes but is not limited to LGBTQ+, immigrants and minorities.

  12. Feeling positive vibes. Few predictions today. Velasquez turns in a quality outing. Moncada (yes, Moncada) homers. Vaughn homers. Abreu has multiple hits/RBI's. White Sox sweep.

  13. I sent the part of the article quoted to my gay brother who has a big following on Facebook. He's not a sports fan but if he reposts it I think it will be received well among his friends.

  15. Credit to Fegan as well for writing the story, getting it out there. And I'm glad you posted it, @Colome's Hat, because it deserves as much visibility as possible. Goes without saying, but awesome stuff from Liam.

  18. Imagine being Roger Clemens and seeing your kid throwing 50 MPH in a MLB game. Personally, I'd be a little offended if I was him.

  19. It would be something if the Sox are turning this thing around and then someone hits a HR off of the position player and Tony derails the season by calling them out after the game

  20. They wanted Sean Burke. They agreed to a deal with Sean Burke for $900K. He likely could've gone earlier. This is the part of the process that you're refusing to understand. It's overslot because the White Sox felt he was a better player than the 94th pick. Think of it as them trading up to select him. That's essentially what it would be like in other drafts.

  21. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Eloy needs to stay on the field for one thing.

  22. He's had it for 14 years and nothing about the ligament has changed. I'd say that is great news all around; not sure why it's turned doom and gloom here.

  23. We must give Tony his due for finding Vaughn ABs when there have been other capable players such as Leury Garcia and Gavin Sheets who command playing time.

  24. When we look back at our 2022 World Series Championship, we will all remember the Great Harry Chappas Gamethread Victory Streak that was reluctantly started in the middle of June.

  25. Not sure what is surprising about Vaughn. This is what he was projected to be. It was always ridiculous that because he wasnt Konkerko from Day 1 that he somehow wouldnt improve. He's going to put up .850-.950 OPS numbers for the next decade

  26. If the Sox knew that they would have kept Kimbrel and traded Hendricks in the off-season.

  27. Thompson's final line 5.1 IP 8 H 3 ER 0 BB 9 SO. 79 pitches. 63 for strikes. I am pleased with this development. He looked great.

  28. One thing that has changed is he cannot pitch right now.

  29. It changed with the latest CBA. There are now a finite number of times (5 I believe) that a players can be brought up and sent down in a season.

  30. This might just be a bit of phantom IL stint to avoid using another one of Crick's 5 options on the season. I am guessing he's got a little something going on, but he just pitched on Monday.

  31. Did a bit more digging. Only 20% of flexor strains result in Tommy John surgery according to statistics I read via the magic of Google. Tanner Houck also got shut down with a right flexor strain earlier this year and he's doing ok.

  32. What is so impressive to me is that he basically missed the entire process of minor league development and is still doing more than holding his own. I see nothing to suggest that he should be playing the outfield for any period of time, but that's okay since that was never a standard he should have been held to. He's probably going to struggle again (in fact I can see that Statcast thinks he's been on a lucky streak) but his ability to take his lumps at this level without falling apart is great. Really the main drawback is it has cost us the ability to see what his ceiling looks like since he missed the chance to dominate minor league competition and show what he looks like when he's fully "on."

  33. Some of these players are good guys! Oldest son with grandson in Detroit for the win last night. Seats in back of the Sox dugout and after the game my 14 year old grandson got to talking with Kopech before he ducked into the dugout. Very friendly and tossed him a ball before he left. Nice memory to have.

  34. I applaud Tony for finding the at bats and Vaughn for embracing the challenge. I see multiple all star appearances in his future and if I had to pick one offensive category he could lead the league in one year, I would say RBIs.

  36. You do realize that Sousa was also warming up, right? Instead he went with Hendriks with 5 run lead to save Sousa for a high leverage spot on Saturday, which he failed, and the Sox lost.

  37. well he did get hurt needlessly pitching in the 9th on Friday with a 5 run lead.
