I know Nightengale has been beating this drum for the last few months and he is very close to JR and Kenny. He is actually one of the few media-types that JR has conversations with. But I've also seen where, regarding the White Sox, he's been wrong an awful lot...sort of the national version of Bruce Levine. I recently expressed my feelings to some of the folks I know in the Sox front office. I said that if a change is made it can't just be TLR, JR needs to do a housecleaning a la what John Allyn did in September 1970 because the Sox have lost credibility with a large segment of the fan base. I've know TLR since the early 80's...have interviewed him multiple times and in those in-depth conversations, I've come away with how sharp, how brilliant this guy was baseball-wise. But this is not the same guy anymore. The bizarre decisions, the stumbling/mumbling press conferences, the falling asleep (or at least looking like he's very tired) in the dugout. It's hurting this team but he's not the only issue. Hahn is going on year 10 as G.M. and his track record (even when the Sox weren't rebuilding) is very poor. The numbers don't lie. He's wasted millions and millions of dollars on guys I consider retreads, has-been's, guys on the down side of 30, injury-prone guys yet he refuses to go the distance on the elite players when they become available on the market. It can't be coincidence that the vast majority of his acquisitions/signings have put up a negative WAR with their time with the Sox. That says there's also an issue with scouting at the Major League level and/or development when those guys get here. And you can't overlook what appears to be a medical, training and conditioning staff that has serious issues. In the last five years the Sox have gone through three trainers (Herm... Ball, who is suing the club and now Kirk), they've gone through a few strength and development guys (Thomas and Torborg) yet the injuries are relentless. This past November Hahn publicly said the Sox were going to conduct a study trying to get a handle on the injury situation, especially the soft tissue ones, but those findings were never made public. I did see an ad this off season the Sox placed for a "bio-mechanics" specialist but that's all I know. I was told that Alan Thomas left (or was fired depending on who you talk to) because he disagreed with the results of that study. That he felt the Sox injury issues were caused by the COVID situation impacting ability to work out and the shortened spring trainings, although that ignores the fact the Sox were getting hard hit by injuries as far back as 2016 (remember that year four rookies making their MLB debuts were never able to even finish their first games due to injuries' that put them on the IL). One person said that when it comes to things like conditioning, nutrition, sleep-schedules "the Sox play checkers while other teams are playing chess..." (I told the same thing to the folks I've known in the front office.) My point being there are a LOT of serious issues with this organization that go far beyond the field manager. Regardless of if they make the playoffs or not this season has shown a lot of those issues clearly. The question is will JR do anything about it?9 points

All right, now we just need an on-side kick and TD6 points

Agree. The Harrison hate is too much. Does he suck? Yeah kinda, but he's far from our biggest problem. He's been fine for 2+ months now and there's no internal option better. We roll with Harrison for the rest of 2022.5 points

This is a great call. Rick, if you're listening, you should absolutely cut a 27 year old that is owed 42 million over the next two seasons, this will greatly improve the Sox chances of winning a World Series.4 points

All that for a split and no ground gained. Can't wait to get scolded again for not being excited about this mediocrity.4 points

I think Jerry is dumb enough to believe Tony was going to be head and shoulder above the competition. Both those two are so damn arrogant they are perfect for each other.3 points

With the money he's made over the years including his outside restaurant investments, I don't think money is a concern to him. And given his expertise, he's one of the best analysts in the game, I think other clubs would definitely have interest although his age could be a limiting factor.3 points

If there's one thing Lucas doesn't lack, it's motivation. He's trying very hard out there. He just doesn't have the FB velocity to trick people with his change up anymore. And his lack of a dominant breaking pitch is why he's regressed.3 points

Harrison since June 1: .287 / .342 / .432 / .774 (AVG / OBP / SLG / OPS) 53 hits in 185 AB's April + May: .172 / .255 / .263 / .517 17 hits in 99 AB's To say he's "woefully bad" is to ignore everything from June 1 onward.3 points

I have to turn on a VPN to watch Sox v Houston in Dallas because its blacked out. Not anymore today. I turned off my VPN. Cancelled my Internet. ...and burned down my house.2 points

Maybe Vince can develop another blister to keep him away from the mound for a while.2 points

To borrow and old JR line, anyone who thinks this team can catch Cleveland is crazy2 points

Can we put in Kelly to hit every batter untill tossed? Give the fans what they want since they can't win2 points

I feel like I’m the only one that remembers we were all warned that his new mechanics might accelerate shoulder and arm issues when he started doing it.2 points

If he does return next year, will be an interesting battle with Grandal about who gets DFA first2 points

This is about the 10th time I've been sucked only to remember why this team is a fucking .500 outfit.2 points

Giolito is just a huge, yawning disappointment.2 points

I think assessing Colas as a bat only prospect seems a bit lazy. A bat only guy wouldn't be spending the bulk of his time playing CF in the minors. Even if it isn't going to be his long term home.2 points

It's an interesting strategy the Astros are employing.2 points

He mashes at Progressive field at least. Good time to bring him in.2 points

we can't be happy with any splits right now. we need to win every series.2 points
-
Have to be happy with a split. This team just doesn't have enough offense without TA and Robert in the line up. The bottom 5 of this line up is just a black hole of nothing offensively.2 points

Churning over the talent at the bottom part of the 40-man roster has definitely not been a strength of Hahn.2 points

I understand where fathom is going with roster balance, filling out holes, getting this team more athletic...don't disagree with that. I also understand Vaughn is a 1B/DH which already lowers his value/impact on the field. Having said that, I don't like using a 24 year old cost-controlled bat to acquire another one. Additionally, Vaughn still has less than 1000 PA's in the ML and has shown a ton of improvement in Year 2. I expect him to continue that climb as he matures, I said last week I think Vaughn can put Mike Sweeney type numbers which would be just fine. I think I'd actually be more inclined to trade Eloy at this point than Vaughn.2 points

Okay White Sox get back on the winning track today by taking care of business against Houston. I highly doubt anyone thought they would sweep the Astros so taking 3 of 4 would be outstanding any way you look at it. Can they do it, I say yes!!!!!2 points

gotta include the game time in the thread title or OP, pimp. some of us rely on it to know when the pain starts2 points

He’s had several dreadful games in a row, decent streak notwithstanding. Unfortunately there aren’t really any better options, frustrations aside. I realize they won’t bench him, but I personally have seen enough. The bases loaded AB last night sealed it for me.2 points

Harrison had a stupid at bat last night but he has been an above average 2b for a couple months now. No reason to bench him.2 points

Andrus sucks but he MLB sucks. Romy and Sosa aren't even at MLB suck level. I have faith in both, but things are too tight right now to have non MLB ready guys playing everyday. Especially when we are forced to play Yaz and Harrison.2 points

Can we bench Harrison once the ink is dry? I don’t need to see another AB of his ever again.2 points

He failed in front offices in three places and is now failing in the dugout. For Christ sake it's done....the drunkard needs to just go the f home already. A week from today there will be no playoff concerns and his inability to manage will be as clear as it is currently is to most already. The White Sox biggest mistake was not letting the drunk go 35 years ago it was letting Francona go. Francona is 10x the manger the druknard ever was and he was the Sox AA manager....that was a franchise altering mistake.2 points

The thing I'm worried about is TLR having influence in the front office even after he leaves the dugout. Like if Hahn wants Player A in free agency, but he's overruled by TLR. I can see why top free agents would avoid the White Sox like the plague. They seem so unorganized with no structure. I mean who actually runs the club?? Is it Reinsdorf? Kenny WIlliams? La Russa? We know it's not Hahn because he can't even pick his own manager. Free agents who want to win have to see that.2 points
