  1. The hiring of Tony LaRussa. Everything went to shit after he was hired.

  2. All - with the season heading down the tubes I am taking a last ditch extremely superstitious effort to get the club on track and will be working through some upgrades to the forum software sometime next week. Intent is for it to be a one day outage but given size of this board always a risk it drags a bit longer. If it does I’ll get a back up forum up in the meantime but want to make sure I get everything upgraded given some of the slowness issues people were running into on their mobile device etc. Wanted to give you all a quick heads up - I’ll post a more updated timeline as I get closer to it.

  8. Can Arizona please call up Dallas so that he can throw a complete game shutout against us? Pretty please.

  9. I feel like last year’s team was so much more loose and having much more fun. Almost like they saw TLR meandering around the ST fields and said, I don’t care who’s managing us or what he’s saying, we’re “changing the game.” Chains, celebrations, smiles, etc. This year, from day one, it’s felt like a collective “oh boy, Gramps is still here?!” Total let down. They play with the energy and enthusiasm of their manager.

  10. I don’t disagree that the organization has the worst messaging in the league. But calling the guy La Puss after that replay was fucking meatball shit

  12. Sox suck, but they really suck in the first game of a series.

  13. This is such an unlikable organization, from the top down, right now.

  14. It makes me laugh that this team is still supposedly trying to win these games. Their lack of energy is insane.

  15. You think a little accusation of sexual assault would cause the white Sox to change something about their staff?

  16. Hahn is such a fucking coward for not meeting with the media before the game

  17. I can't compare this team to what was a 94 win ball club in 1990. This team flat out sucks, and Engel's drop last night is exactly what teams that suck do.

  18. “Hey Tony, put your teeth back in.” “Mr. La Russa, step out of the vehicle, and put your hands behind your back.” “Hey Tony, you pooped your pants again.”

  19. I was told by a member of the mainsteam media who has covered the Sox the long term deal for Moncada was Kenny's idea. And you have to understand the context as to why the Sox gave these out, it fits right in with the narrative of this organization that it is always about money. They wanted to lock these guys up and delay arbitration years if possible, where if these guys did very well they can rake in the money because of an arbitration decision. The Sox did not want to put themselves in that position so they made them these offers, gave a lot of money figuring in the long run they'd probably come out ahead on the balance sheet. Like with so many things this organization tries, it blows up in their faces.

  24. It was interesting to me seeing a bunch of people call him a pussy when you watch the replay and see his wrist go sideways off of Schoops leg. His wrist is killing him right now he can’t complete his swing motion unless it’s perfect

  25. Snake bit? Snake bit???? It's a fucking 162 game season. "Luck" evens itself out over that many games. This is who the White Sox are. They are the worst coached team in baseball (by a mile). They have the absolute worst medical and training staff in baseball. They have a hitting coach who has absolutely no idea how to work with the hitters or get through to them. They lack focus, every game. They suck at almost every baseball fundamental. They are a BAD team. Wake the fuck up.

  26. Got an e-mail from a friend who reminded me that exactly 32 years ago August 25, 1990 was the "Lee Stevens Game," the game that many fans feel broke the back of the overachieving 1990 White Sox. He brought it up because he feels that Engel's error last night was the final nail in the Sox 2022 coffin....on the same day of the calendar. For those who don't remember the Sox started the night five game back, had beaten California the night before and had a 2-0 lead in the 9th inning with two out when Bobby Thigpen faced left handed hitting Lee Stevens with two on. Thigpen had gotten fastballs by him but someone (Fisk? Thigpen?) called for a change up and Stevens hit it over the center field fence. Sox lost 3-2 and promptly lost five in a row. Jeff Torborg has told me a lot about that night, he was pissed because like he said Stevens couldn't hit a good fastball. He was going to get all over Fisk when he got back to the dugout but saw Carlton was taking his catchers mask and repeatedly hitting himself in the head with it as he was walking back to the dugout when the inning ended. Jeff said that he knew Fisk was pissed and didn't think any good would come out of ripping him, he knew there was a major screw up. Torborg was so pissed driving home he was caught speeding and explained why he was distracted. He told me the cop didn't believe it, he said the cop said, "You guys didn't win?" and just walked away he was so stunned. No ticket was given out.

  27. I think we need a reality show with Dallas's mom, Wheeler's wife, Ozzie's sons, Giolito's dad, Prince Fielder's girlfriend, and Manny Machado's cousin.

  28. The White Sox were 26-16 after the day of the 3-0 Grand Slam by Yermin Mercedes. Since that point, this team is 129-115. They peaked out in 2021 at 43-26 on June 17 of 2021. Since that point they are 113-105 This isn't even JUST a 2022 thing. The team fell hasn't been the same for about 14-15 months now. The roster is by and large the same roster, with a few changes. It is the same players who were killing it in the previous years who have tanked in the ensuing time.

  30. I wouldn't be surprised if the international guys that are in the Sox system currently told them all not to come here because management doesn't know how to run a baseball team.

  33. Lack of urgency, getting out hustled, and being fundamentally challenged are all things the manager controls. Physical errors and losing an individual matchup falls on the players. Being physically prepared to play is a group effort.

  34. I think their M.O. is they like to be very arrogant about how they don't go too hard in one trend where the art of what they are moving from may be "lost". But to me they end up getting the worst of both worlds. Don't get first mover advantage, move far enough to new things to not get the benefit of a hedge. But I've also written this before, what you saw in 2015-19 to me was just complete capitulation that old school orgs lost. Massive overhauling in virtually every org to catch up. Hahn gets credit for not deciding to be a completely backwards org, but every org "modernized" in the last 5-8 years. He doesn't get extra credit.

  35. By the way, along with the famed "triple play" baserunning gaffe that's two games *Adam Engel* of all players has single-handedly cost the Sox, half the Division deficit. Another thing I did not have on my 2022 Sox bingo card.

  36. I said it right before the deadline and will say it again. This team wasn't worth significantly adding to at the deadline unless we got long term talent, and I am glad we didn't waste resources chasing at rental. Rick Hahn's best move this year was no acting like this team had a chance to win at the deadline.

  41. Bad loss. I feel sorry for Engel. He just took his eye off the ball for some reason. Very sad situation. Game was over. I see Moncada got hurt again. What a year. Hopefully Sox fix the medical issues for 2023. This is no way to play baseball short handed every week.

  42. I have no idea. I would start by hiring a search firm to gauge interest from something like 30 qualified candidates from diverse backgrounds and collect their backgrounds and resumes. I would then schedule interviews with a dozen or so and spend several hours with each of them discussing their philosophy, experience, examples from their backgrounds, and how they would fix this mess. I would filter them down to 2 or 3 based on these interviews and bring the next batch in for second interviews then hire the person who is the best fit. You know, how professional teams do it. The idea that it can only be a washed up previous manager with experience or a fiery former white Sox player is the same poison that has been dumped into our last 3 coaching searches. It’s exactly how we got where we are today. Don’t do it again.

  47. I didn't realize I had Pell Grants. I have around $25K in student debt and now I believe I will now be down to $5k, my wife from $12K to $2K. Great news for us for our future but I am also a little worried about what effect this might have for the future with taxes and how exactly all this money will end up coming from.
