  1. How about those winning percentages? I guess you are going to ignore that Ricky got it done against far superior competition in both Cleveland and Minny as compared to this year, and that Tony has seen his team perform less and less each season, with as you said, a not very good team? I know you want to misdirect by including what the rest of baseball was doing two years ago, instead of what the Sox are doing now, but again that is kind of the point. A better equipped team, is doing worse each season, with worse competition under this manager. Then after he steps away, the team looks like it did before he got here. Runs scored are up, homers are up, and the team is winning.

  2. This is seriously one of the weirdest personnel situations we've seen in MLB. LaRussa is hired without support of FO Team greatly underachieves A "medical emergency" out of nowhere Sox and Chicago have amazing medical options, Tony FLIES to AZ to see his doctors. Rumor has it he had heart issues which makes flying questionable Team is absolutely mum, not making any statements to the press Team starts winning Heyman and Nightengale say Tony is coming back/is coming back soon Team says nothing has changed Steve Stone says he talks to Tony but doesn't know what his illness is Miguel Cairo says he talks to Tony but doesn't know what his illness is Reports are Tony needs clearance from his doctor to FLY to OAK for Dave Stewart celebration Tony is clearly feeding Heyman and Nightengale the "coming back" talk. The org isn't talking to anyone. Steve Stone and Miguel Cairo make it clear that, whatever the situation is, there's a gag order out from the org. Players don't seem to know what's going on, either. If the "medical emergency" was a cover story, seems this would require Tony's cooperation. Did it start as a medical emergency and turn into a silent firing? If he's fired, why is the team not saying anything? If he's not fired and is coming back, why the silence from the org? Why was he fine to fly to AZ but needs permission to fly to SanFran? This is, by far, the most dysfunctional organization in baseball and they're clearly hiding something from us without any clear reason to be so secretive.

  7. These comments combined w Grandals last week say it all. Yet Jerry will welcome him back with open arms because this is the White Sox way, and I hope the fans boo the hell out of him when he comes back

  9. Hopefully you realize that makes the case for Tony as an inferior manager even more clear, but probably not. If Ricky could taken an inferior team to the playoffs with a winning percentage that Tony has never been able to approach with a deeper roster, that just means Tony is a bigger flop. It means the talent has been there all along, and even a mediocre manager in RR could unlock it, yet Tony can't. But details.

  10. Oh was this after no pitching help was added and they had 2 real pitchers and a bullpen full of rookies?

  11. f*** TLR, and what he wants. Bye bye, you fucking zombie. Should have stayed retired. What an absolute stain this return to managing will be on his career. Nobody is going to remember s%*#, aside from this DISASTER of a season with him at the helm. Again, f*** TLR. Go get another DUI asshole.

  12. Great way to start the series...now let's just hope they don't do what happened the last time they scored in double figures, last Saturday 13 runs...Sunday, one. Need to keep the pressure on.

  15. Here's the best argument for Cairo I can make - - despite Robert and Moncada (and of course TA) missing a lot of the games, since the 9-7 loss Leury Legend has only started 3 games, and none since the Twins series.

  21. I'm waiting for the automated ball/strike electronic system. Last I saw the umpires union agreed to it but MLB said it is still a few years away. Can't come to soon in my opinion.

  23. This team has put themselves in the position where they just can't lose to shitty last place teams. I know it's unreasonable to expect a 4 game sweep, but this is the position they've put themselves in. Falling 2 1/2 behind Cleveland is actually 3 1/2 with no game 163.

  25. Its 2-0 against a bad team. They should be able to put up a 7 spot on this garbage pitcher. Giolito tonight and last start did his job. If you are looking for zeros across the board with him then you will be disappointed. This team cant consistently hit.

  27. I've thought this for a while. Tony seems like the kind of guy that would be yelling "cut those sideburns, Mattingly!" at Yoan.

  28. The White Sox started the game with back to back HR's by Elvis Andrus and Yoan Moncada and never looked back. Yoan Moncada went 5-6 with 2 HR's and 5 RBI. Romy Gonzalez was 4/5 with a 3 run HR and a double. Eloy 1-4 with a 2 run HR. 14 runs scored is the most ever in the Oakland Coliseum in 309 career games there. Sox also had 21 hits. 5 HR's equals the most amount ever in Oakland Dylan Cease pitched 6 innings with 0 runs, 3 hits, 9 K and 2 BB lowering his E.R.A to 2.06. He also got 200 K's for the 2nd time in his career . 7th pitcher in White Sox history to have multiple 200 K years. Final score 14-2. Sox gain a 1/2 game on the Indians who were idle. Twins beat the Yankees.

  30. I'm starting to think Tony planned this whole illness thing to rally the troops. It's classic genius Tony. The signs are all there. Tony having dinner with Dave Stewart in AZ. Clearly not ailing too badly. We've seen from the Jay Cuda tweet that Tony has the acting chops to pull off a stunt like this. The very mysterious way he exited. Makes the players really buy in and play extra hard for their "ailing" skip. Tony has been enjoying a nice little vacation, probably having some beers (responsibly, of course) with old pals in Arizona. Meanwhile the team rallies behind their ailing skip and gets an even bigger boost when he returns. They ride the wave all the way to the World Series. We're all playing checkers while Tony is playing 4D chess. Simply genius.

  38. Perhaps the front office intentionally floated the idea of a possible return, in an attempt to gauge the reaction. It's hard to believe that they are so obtuse that they haven't figured it out yet. However, why should we have confidence that they know what they're doing. I don't care how this all plays out, as long as the Sox have a different manager, next season. Loyal fans deserve better than all of this unnecessary drama. This organization has managed to become very difficult to support. Frankly, even if they win the division, if their record is just a little over .500, and they succeed in the post season, it would be a hallow, tainted victory, for many. The Sox don't belong in the same company as great teams, which have compiled significant winning records, during the season. What if they played the Dodgers, in the World Series and won. Would anyone really think that the Sox were a better team than the Dodgers? Just get this season over with, and try to fix it, before this window closes.

  41. Why do you feel the need to defend TLR all the time? Let me make this simple for you....he was brought in to bring this team to and win a World Series. The team is at best a .500 club with him in the dugout. He has been an epic failure. He just has and I am perplexed why you do not understand that.

  42. These two posts belong together. This team has been disinterested garbage for the last 200 games with Tony running it. They have barely been .500, and have played disinterested and fundamentally garbage baseball. The jump in energy in the last week is shocking after seeing the previous year and a half. Tony LaRussa has been an unmitigated disaster for the Chicago White Sox. Literally every worst case scenario possible has happened in the last two seasons under his watch.

  45. This thread is LOL. This board talks about firing Hahn ... fire yourselves! Listen, I don't condone what Tim Anderson did in his personal life, but like, it's his personal life. I don't know about all of you throwing stones at glass houses, but home life effects work life. It just does. The first few months of this season Tim Anderson was looking like a MVP candidate. Stuff spilled out, his life went into a blender and his play suffered big time. There is zero question that Tim Anderson is this teams SS for the remainder of his contract. Everybody who want to retain Andrus please go pull his baseball savant page and spend time on there. It's not good. Elvis Andrus is in the Josh Harrison/Jonathan Villar/A. Simmons phase of his career. He is going to maybe have 1-2 years left. He is not an answer to a team trying to make a push. He just isn't. And we already have Leury. Also, he's basically Leury.
