Hating on a player because he doesn't conform to the prototypical white-boy baseball player from the 1950's always strikes me as absurd. People are different. People have different cultures. People have different styles, and tastes. Who gives a flying f*** if he wears a chain and tilts his hat? He's paid to hit the ball, not conform to some boring ass preconceived notion of what a baseball player should look like. Personality is a good thing.7 points

Cueto looked at the Sox run output in the first 3 games, and probably though to himself “well s%*#, I’m screwed.”6 points

*Cough* Dallas Keuchel *Cough* April 20, 2022 @ Cleveland https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CLE/CLE202204201.shtml 9 runs, 9 hits, 2 errors, 1 LOB. White Sox 0, Guardians 10.4 points

Yeah between guys like Eloy and TA a lot of people here show their true colors when talking about them. Obviously a fan can criticize a players on field performance all they want, but when the critique is about how a player is dressed or about their personality there’s definitely something else going on.4 points

Cueto vs Irvin….LFG boys bust out the brooms ? ? ? today and for the love of god don’t be distracted by the appearance of Mr. Tales from the Crypt himself TLR3 points

Pacemaker comments from someone who has one. The key thing is to know which type. On a simplistic level, there's a basic pacemaker which helps people like me with a-fib to stay in regular heart rhythm. There's also the pacemaker/defibrillator which can shock you back into rhythm. Obviously, this version is used for more severe underlying conditions. The procedure itself is very simple and is usually done under light general anesthesia. A circular disk goes under the skin just below the shoulder and wires run from the disk to heart wall. Overnight your heart is monitored and if everything is okay, you go home the next morning. I was told to take it very easy for 4-5 days, then easy for a couple of weeks, then live my life - just nothing to strenuous for a while. Many people commented about Tony's low energy level. That likely will get a better if the underlying condition isn't too bad. We don't know enough to really speculate on the course of his recovery.3 points

77 and just had a pacemaker, yeah no way they can let him come back. For the sake of his own health, the org and his doctors need to say no.3 points

Yeah. The whole “he’ll be joining the team on it flight back to chicago” bit is the dagger. Cannot believe they’re actually going to let him back in there dugout. Jerry is a fucking idiot.3 points

this isn't a serious organization not saying that bc they didnt win today, but it's the decision making or lack thereof that really looks like these people aren't qualified for these jobs2 points

This will put us 4 behind Cleveland in loss column. Pretty much have to win all 4 against them now.2 points

Still it was an unforced error leaving Cueto in so long. He pitched to 9 hitters and allowed 6 runs. Cairo forgot we are in a pennant race.2 points

Leaving Cueto in to die in such a crucial game is inept management. Especially with an off day tomorrow. Keep the fucking game close and give the offense a chance. Team might have more energy under Cairo, but he's a fucking idiot too.2 points

They were due for a bad game. But also, this is what happens when you leave yourself no margin for error. A 4 game sweep on the road is really really hard. Maybe don’t get swept at home by the diamondbacks next time ?♂️2 points

5-2 is manageable, I don't think 7-2 is. Leury still should have caught that foul ball. Just all around bad.2 points

Twins started the season 16-11. Every 27 games since then has been worse than the previous 27. They might just suck.2 points

I realize Field's has no weapons and SF has a ferocious D but he looks like the classic athletic QB that can run but can't pass for s%*# ?2 points

Hoping Cairo keeps the team in the clubhouse during the Dave Stewart ceremony, so they can go one more game without seeing him. Hoping beyond hope the Sox fire Tony and ban him from the clubhouse like they did to Fisk when they cut him in Cleveland, and he was forced to say goodbye to his teammates from the stands. Sadly, this level of pettiness is nearly always reserved in a Reinsdorf organization against players.2 points

And the NEXT time he plays outfield, an injury will not be far behind. A danger to himself and those around him. Maybe the crooked hat and 10-pound gold medallion throws off his equilibrium. Maybe if he spent as much time cultivating his physical conditioning as he does cultivating his "look"? DH is a real and honorable position. We should know, we have several.2 points

Or, just tell the guy he has 2 options: 1) step away from the game for good for medical reasons; or 2) get publicly fired tomorrow. But rejoining the coaching staff isn’t an option. That’s what a well run organization would do. Alas..2 points

I don't. They have historically owned us in their own ballpark. It's finally nice to give them a taste of their own medicine.2 points

He's cleared to travel for the ceremony for Stewart tomorrow. He's not yet cleared to manage. The perfect "cover" is for him to attend the ceremony and then (citing unexpected fatigue) announce he's heading back to Arizona for further tests. He stays in Arizona for another week before they announce the joint decision of he and his doctors to stay at home through the end of the season. Hey......a kid can dream.2 points

Literally the most exciting two weeks of Sox baseball this season and they are going to ruin by letting this absolute bum come back. I'm not sure how anyone in the front office could honestly defend him managing again. The team was dead in the water until he was forced out. Now they are right back in it, just to get ruined by this clown insisting on starting Luery fucking Garcia every game down the stretch. Awesome.2 points

It doesn’t even matter if he was the problem or not. Dropping him into that clubhouse at this moment in time is just ignorant of the current environment. Theres no point to it.2 points

He's a zombie. He can barely stay awake in the dugout. It's obvious the team has responded to a skipper who is actively involved in the game, excited, and relatable. Big bonus that he doesn't fall asleep in the dugout.2 points

I’m actually going in the other direction. I’m looking to move Timmy this offseason while he still has value. This has nothing to do with Andrus. My issue with Timmy is he’s a free agent in a couple years and is going to want a mega contract, which I don’t think he will be worth it. His defense at shortstop has been very sporadic this season, he gets hurt often, and it seems his power is declining. I’d look to move him for pitching and plug in Mendick/Romy/whoever as a stopgap SS next year until Montgomery is (hopefully) ready in 2024.1 point
