  1. How can anyone read that Bob article and think Tony didn’t destroy this team and also that he should ever return
    9 points
  2. Not into accuracy or current reality either. No doubt you still call your syrup Aunt Jemima, because you may not be into "woke bs", but you are committed to offending others.

  3. And holy crap that article is chilling.

  6. Tony, if you have to question whether or not you’re a distraction, then it’s time to go. Please retire.

  7. One thing the Sox must not do is look past Colorado and Detroit to look forward to Cleveland. They should beat those two teams, but that is something they have to do on the field.

  8. Sox win the next 6. Same record with 14 left. You heard it here first.

  9. How did Cleveland end up with 6 at home against KC to end the year? Was this the original schedule or are there make up games included. Bottom line the Sox just waited too long to get serious about this thing. I blame a lot of this on TLR and his giving too many games away with terrible lineups. This group needed a constant fire lit under their butts and TLR was not the right Manager for that job.

  11. Why in the world would you DFA pollock? Makes no sense. You’re paying him anyway and he absolutely rakes LHP, is a perfect Colas platoon partner and great injury insurance for the roster.

  12. JRam plays so loose. It’s incredible. Such a cool ball player.

  13. Imagine if the front office had some balls and fired Tony 2+ months ago

  14. I grew up close enough to Comiskey that we would hear the fireworks when they hit a homer....I fondly remember my Dad calling out from the backyard "WHO HIT ONE?!" It's in my blood and I don't think I could quit the White Sox if I wanted to....plus what would my wife and son do if they didn't have new Sox caps to give me for bday, father's day and xmas??

  15. It's also a bit of a crock of crap....their destiny has been in their hands for months. Easy part of the schedule...they play .500 just like the rest of the season. I'm not excusing LaRussa but for crying out loud there are enough veterans on this team that they should have realized long ago that this team had no fight.

  16. Liam is only here because of Tony, works with him with TLR's Animal Shelter work. It is more indicting coming from Liam than anyone else in that locker room.

  17. "We didn't have that fight earlier. We didn't have that drive. We didn't have that hunger. Now, that has all changed. Destiny is in our hands." If that’s not an indictment of TLR and or his presence, I don’t know what is.

  18. I wish Tony the best health wise, but it's clear this team has more desire to play under Cairo.

  19. Ladies and gentlemen, this is all about ego. Larussa's ego is as big as Montana. He is a narcissist who believes only he can turn this team into a winner He says he doesn't want to be a distraction, which is utter BS. It has always been all about Tony, 1st and always. It's also ego on the part of Jerry. Nobody tells a billionaire how to run his business. He basically would rather lose his way than win listening to others. Remember he broke up the Bulls because "players don't win championships management does". We'll get nothing nice until both these guys are long gone.

  20. From the article above (it's already been quoted)... emphasis = mine: Yeah - if that's not an indictment on TLR, I'm not sure what is.

  21. Saw a video at NBC Sports Chicago where Heyman said LaRussa will NOT be managing the Sox next season. We'll see what winds up happening.

  22. This can't be true. I was told this was all because of Tony.

  23. The Sox appear to be in the situation, where every game now, is like a playoff game . they really cannot afford very many (if any) losses now, if they want to catch, and pass, Cleveland . teams that have to fight like this, to end the year, can have the advantage of being used to playing in high stress . but on the other hand, may also be drained and just collapse' I truly believe that if the Sox can fight their way to the post season, then we won't have any more of that being eliminated in the 1st round stuff.

  24. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2022/09/13/white-sox-winning-miguel-cairo-tony-la-russa-future/10364486002/ It sure as hell sounds like TLR lost the clubhouse. Guys just did what they want.

  25. Five words.....Terry Francona not Tony LaRussa.

  26. We need the win…. Better odds on the win against the Rockies….. as compared to beating the Indians( sorry….I’m not into the woke bs)…..

  27. I still don't understand why they are pitching Cease Wednesday instead of Thursday in Cleveland. Maybe Cairo is listening to TLR too much!

  28. A 5 game comeback this fast against division rivals is going to be tough. That's the kind of thing that could leave your roster just plain worn out.

  29. Oh I’m with you. Just reading people on various platforms going nuclear because he promised to drive home, lmao. my dad passed away a week after he had his pacemaker put in, his heart just stopped. Pacemakers aren’t something anyone should take lightly and I’m astonished that he had one put in before the season and they are considering letting him come back after they had to fix it. This job is high stress, full stop. My opinion of his managing does not matter in this scenario

  30. He is 78 years old with a pacemaker. This is not a guy who was out playing tennis or running marathons. He is 78. He is too old to be a manager at the MLB level. The grind and the requirements with travel and hours are beyond that of a person his age without a pacemaker more or less with one.

  31. TLR will be back at some point this week. His ego is too big for him to walk away from a pennant race.

  32. Grandal and Garcia are the two worst hitters in the AL (maybe all of baseball). That has a huge impact on situational hitting. Both in their results in those situations and the fact that they do not create those situations to begin with. Tony got ill and then poof Garcia can't find the field.

  33. Watch the movie The Cooler. He's William H. Macy.

  34. Eloy injured his hamstring running to first base. His other major injury was a compete fluke, reaching over the wall to try to catch a ball. He can easily avoid doing that again but no player is immune from injury. As far as not being an asset, well you have your own opinion and I'll just say I disagree.

  35. I'll go with this order....Situational Hitting, LaRussa, Situational Hitting, Injuries, Situational Hitting, the Nationwide Jingle Curse, Situational Hitting and Joe Kelly.

  36. I watched the Cle/LAA game. LAA.had a bad defensive inning that gave up 4 runs otherwise they win that game. Trout is going for a record tying 8 game HR streak tonight so everyone will be watching his at bats. Sox just need to win. They put themselves in this position by not playing well until September.

  37. Yes, despite telling the team he wouldn't come back if they lost Sunday. He should have promised the opposite, he wouldn't return until they lost a game. Might have closed out the season without a loss.

  38. A lot of men, especially those with a big chest and torso tend to box out with age. I think Vaughn is going to end up being a beast like Jim Thome.

  39. You have to go back to the Ventura era (as manager, thankfully not as player) to find the last White Sox four game win streak over Cleveland. Last Eight Four Plus Game Win Streaks (Cleveland vs. Chicago A. L.): Cleveland over Chicago 2022 (4/20, 4/20, 4/21, 5/9) Cleveland over Chicago 2020 (8/8, 8/9, 9/21, 9/22, 9/23, 9/24) Cleveland over Chicago 2018 (8/11, 8/12, 9/18, 9/19) Cleveland over Chicago 2018 (5/28, 5/29, 5/30, 6/11) Cleveland over Chicago 2017. (9/4, 9/5, 9/6, 9/7, 9/29) Cleveland over Chicago 2016 (5/23, 5/24, 5/25, 6/17, 6/18, 6/19, 8/16) Chicago over Cleveland 2015 (8/23, 8/24, 8/25, 8/26) Cleveland over Chicago 2014 (8/28, 9/5, 9/6, 9/7)

  40. not nearly as annoying as what we're stuck with

  41. I will happily boo and chant for him to get fired if he returns. The man is making a mockery of the game with his asinine decision making, and he's an arrogant prick. Being a "Hall of Famer" doesn't exempt you for life from facing repercussions from fans reactions to bad play or decision making. Being sick doesn't exempt an asshole for being seen as an asshole. Just because someone gets sick or dies doesn't automatically make them a saint. You won't find me rooting for him to die - that is classless - but I am not going to suddenly change my feelings because he had to visit his doctor.

  42. Tony LaRussa or Johnny Cash? You decide.

  43. Yordan Alvarez is only 25 and has only played 47 games in the outfield this year. I think Eloy’s bat can be that level good if not better. Half the games is being generous. Nothing wrong with being a young DH.
    1 point
  44. If Eloy is exclusively deployed as a DH he will only become more prone to injury. That is inevitable for a DH who no longer has to run much or stay in shape for that role yet is asked to come off the bench cold 5 times a game. Eloy needs to play LF for at least half the games. He's only 26 years old..

  45. Hating on a player because he doesn't conform to the prototypical white-boy baseball player from the 1950's always strikes me as absurd. People are different. People have different cultures. People have different styles, and tastes. Who gives a flying f*** if he wears a chain and tilts his hat? He's paid to hit the ball, not conform to some boring ass preconceived notion of what a baseball player should look like. Personality is a good thing.

  46. This is why I’m never trading Eloy. He’s just an amazing bat when healthy.
