  1. The problem I have with Schildt is he seems too much a LaRussa suggestion.

  2. Eloy needs to embrace the DH role, really let himself go, gain another 40-50 LBS, and become this team’s David Ortiz for the next 10 years. /green

  3. I hate being the guy who is tailoring my plans just to what this org might do. But I really think I'd try to target Gleybar Torres for 2b. I already mentioned it, I know. But to me Colas in RF needs to be done. I think Yankees will want to go after Turner for 2b. Torres being 1 year from FA shouldn't be crazy expensive. He is not perfect, hence he is acquirable. He's RH for one, but so is Sosa, Romy. But he does not hit ground balls and has more power than our team. Maybe you get a good contract year and can give him a QO.

  4. How do you know it's PAST? He admitted to doing it as a player, and did it as a manager. Then quit managing where it was reported he sexually assaulted a reporter. He said he cheated on his wife. I believe LaRussa should have been eliminated. I also believe Washington should be eliminated from being a manager. A coach? Different story. But not running things.

  5. Andrew Vaughn not being conditioned for the outfield is not as much in the coaching staff as it is on the genetics of Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn.

  6. Yep, which is why the front office, scouting dept, farm system coaches and managers need to be changed and improved. The good teams like Tampa and Cleveland to name a few, with limited payrolls discovered this novel idea in baseball! To have a winning playoff organization, you simply need greatness in your scouts, minor league coaches/managers and FO people, as well as a top notch manager and coaching staff on the major league level. This seems to be the blueprint the Sox are clueless on, in order to find the right players to draft and develop, who will have well rounded baseball skills and be able to work hard at being in the best shape to play healthy.

  7. Jerry needs to sell the team. It's not a big market operation. They should be doing the opposite. It's the perfect time to push the chips and spend money. They're going to have to pivot slightly after 2023 regardless, due to the contracts on the roster.

  8. I'm expecting payroll to go down. I won't be surprised when they say they "lost" money last year. They had crazy aggressive attendance projections they didn't come close to and they were expecting playoff revenue which they didn't come close to either. I'm not sure how but I am expecting a decrease in payroll.

  9. I am of the opinion that the players should be held responsible for the conditioning of their bodies, seeing as they are professional athletes.

  10. Cocaine would certainly be one way to get the team to hustle. They'd go from 65-70% effort to 125%!

  11. Based on what I've seen these guys aren't the smartest baseball players around, and I mean that from a purely baseball standpoint.

  12. No it can’t. There’s literally no one on earth who would give the same combination of lack of preparation, ignorance, and arrogance, while also having the ability to get anything he wanted by having the owner in his back pocket.

  16. It’s sadly true. They had all the opportunity to be the forefront of bringing in a young generation, inclusive of everybody. “Change the game”. TA with his YouTube videos in ST was cutting edge fan engagement. Best thing I’ve ever seen. Could have signed Harper & Machado. Create this new exciting murderer’s row bad boys of baseball. Could have rebranded baseball and put the White Sox as the focus. The money would have been pouring in by the billions. Totally messed it all up. Did the same mid market s%*# as always.

  19. You are replacing him with Garrett Crochet and a healthy Aaron bummer and regression, and then supplementing the Middle relievers with additional arms and hope they sort out. The sox don't have easy choices but I think of hard choices, at least you could get value back and salary from hendricks, whereas you cannot from joe Kelly. Graveman vs. Crochet, Bummer, Kelly, Lopez, Diekman could be a strong backend. If it's a weak one, it was already going to be weak.

  20. Royals bench coach. Seems he's also interviewing with a few other teams so maybe an agent leak but on paper seems fine.

  22. I am not asking Eloy to lose 30 or 40 lbs. and be skinny and weak! I'm asking Eloy to lose 15-20 lbs. by eating a better diet and while losing weight, get in the gym and do the proper strength training and flexibility work to maintain his power. It's been proven that through the proper diet and strength and flexibility regimen, a player can lose weight and maintain power. Eloy makes enough money to be able to hire the proper people in the off-season to coordinate and monitor his diet and workouts. As I said, if he isn't willing to make that sacrifice, then we don't need a lazy and unmotivated player that will always be injured and on the IL and not putting up the power numbers we need from him.

  23. I will again take the opinion that if you subtract the best player from a slightly above average bullpen and replace him with a 28 year old journeyman, most likely you turn that into a below average bullpen and that offsets the good you did by improving the OF.

  24. Just my opinion, Jose isn't a 4 war player. Don't know how they figure WAR. Putting up an .825 OPS and being a mediocre defensive 1B doesn't cut it. His 60+ walks a year do not make up for 15 homers as a 1B. He has been a helluva player for a long time. But it's time to cut bait.

  25. Washington would be a great bench coach alongside someone like Beltran. Now would Wash leave ATL to come to Chicago for a lateral move? Prob not.

  26. Orrr, Sox could just spend ~$200M like they did in 2022, sign Nimmo and a decent 5th SP, and keep Hendriks. A lot of $ comes off the books after 2023 anyway.

  27. A talented player with a hole in his game that is never developed. Seems to be a pattern for the Sox.

  28. He is slightly more valuable than his contract. His contract could be moved to someone without picking up much money. The return would be a player, but not one of substantial value. That could mean an A baller, or a seemingly washed up prospect, or a utility guy, something like that. You don’t have to take a bad contract back to move him. The White Sox’s bullpen has been an issue for 2 years, he’s been one of the only 2 reliable guys. While you could move him to save money, I would ask how this makes the team better short or long term? If you still want to compete this year, you remove the only strong force in that bullpen and now have to go find more arms, which costs money and we have seen how well that works. Trading him is, to me, a rebuilding move. No reason to hold onto Cease if you’re moving Hendriks.

  29. It will be hard to find a non-racist Manager who hasn't said the words "MotherF---er.

  31. Counsell, Cash, Martinez, Hyde, Cora, Boone, Servais, Snitker, and Roberts are all typically regarded as the better managers in the game. Some of them are considered to be the very best. They were all hired as first time managers (in the ML level). If the Sox want to find a good manager, it’s probably better to go with a first time guy.

  33. The Sox have been pining for Benintendi since the Red Sox took him one pick ahead of us in the draft. We ended up with Carson Fulmer (yuk). That will be Rick's big signing and he'll ring it in like we just signed Fred Lynn.

  37. Don't waste your time wondering why he wouldn't want Espada. Jerry's extensive track record with his dumb decisions have absolutely shown no wisdom or logic. 1. Let Hawk Harrelson, a play by play broadcaster with no prior GM or front office experience become his GM. 2. Allowed Hawk to fire Tony LaRussa even though he had a winning record. As we all know Jerry has confirmed it was one of the biggest regrets he made not stopping Hawk. Additionally Jerry also allowed Hawk to fire Asst. GM Dave Dombrowski and trade away rookie Bobby Bonilla for Jose DeLeon. 3. Jerry fired Larry Himes who drafted Jack McDowell '87, Robin Ventura '88, Frank Thomas '89, Alex Fernandez '90, Bob Wickman '90, Wickman was traded away to Cleveland by Himes replacement Ron Schueler. Btw, Wickman had a solid career at Cleveland and was a two time all-star and league leading saves leader twice and is currently 2nd on the all-time on saves list for Cleveland. 4. During the 1994 strike year Jerry was one of the major driving forces to convince the owners not to accept the players offer and allow the season to end at around 113 games...thus costing his own team, a legitimate chance at the 1994 World Series with arguably one the best teams in baseball that year. 5. Jerry overrides Rick Hahn and makes Hahn hire his buddy Tony LaRussa well past his prime both mentally and physically. Even though he made this massive mistake, Jerry doubles down to make an even dumber mistake of not firing Tony. 6. With his Bulls team, Jerry allowed Jerry Krauss to force out Phil Jackson and Michael Jordan and breaking up the dynasty and not allowing the Bulls to go after a 7th title. 7. With his Bulls team Jerry also allowed John Paxson to destroy the Bulls and allowed Paxton to keep the team in total mediocrity until his son Michael finally took the team over and removed Paxson to go out and sign Arturas Karnisovas. Paxson's final 4 seasons were 102-199 and probably would still be in charge if not for Michael Reinsdorf being finally allowed to step in and have full authority over the Bulls team, thus making logical changes which his father obviously was clueless on. This is why you can't even begin to wonder why Reinsdorf has made all these historical terrible decisions. He is plain and simply one of the worst owners of all time. -

  39. Is Ron Washington my ideal choice? Is Ron Washington going to be a key cog in a 10 year project to build a system where the coaching, training, scouting all work together and even if they occasionally have a bad year or need to rebuild they’re regularly at the top of the division? Naw. Is Ron Washington going to run to his owner like a crying 77 year old b**** asking him to sign a utility guy or broken down reliever because the GM was a poopy-head? Also no. Is Ron Washington going to tell the opposing team to throw at one of his own players because those Hispanic guys need to be taught a lesson? No. Is Wash going to shout down his own staff trying to explain a rule to him after he slept through the presentation by the league about those rules in the Spring? I dunno, I would hope not. Is Wash going to start walking guys randomly on 1-2 counts because he has to show he’s the smartest guy in the room, show up the opposing player by doing so, and then allude to his knowledge of a nonexistent stat to cover his ass when it implodes? Naw. Not ideal, but better than last time, and yeah I can think of worse options even this year.

  43. When he left the Sox it was a promotion to manager. The tried to bring him back after they fired Lamont after 30 or so games in 1995. Somehow they blamed that horrible start on him, and thought Terry Bevington was the better choice. After the season Leyland was available, but since the Sox s%*# on his friend they had no chance. They kept Bevington which is all you really need to know about what JR thinks managers not named Tony or Jim are worth.

  44. JR doesn't have any sense though, that's the problem.
