Just so people know: Elvis Andrus is going into his age 34 season and will more than likely suck s%*# next year. he played way over his head for the sox (big time dead cat bounce energy) and even while far exceeding any expectations his line with chicago was only .271/.309/.464/.773 (puffed up ISO by like 80 points, he's good for about .120 not .200). He has an 82 OPS+ over his last 2300 plate appearances, he's not good anymore.9 points

Ironically, the White Sox have something of a recent history of having managerial fires that go completely against what Rick Hahn says he is looking for.5 points

The Score talked about Thome also. I guess coaching 14u Sparks team is the equivalent to 2022 White Sox.5 points

Chris Getz shouldn't even be in consideration. This goddamn org just can't get out of its own way.4 points

It’s because JR is too involved in the day to day operations and doesn’t allow Hahn to make the decision.3 points

Moncada strikes me as someone who would be dumped onto the Dodgers and turn into perennial monster.3 points

So after ducking Cease vs. Civale twice this season, the Guardians decided to not duck Civale in their most important game of the year and it bites them in the ass. I know it's petty, but it just feels right.2 points

There is no way they would hire Thome after what Hahn said at the press conference. They may bring one of the old guys in and have him groom him, but no way. And I don’t even think Thome would so bad.2 points
-
So much yelling into the wind here. I get the sox don't deserve benefit of the doubt but literally 0 sources to say they're actually interested in Getz or Thome.2 points
-
Thome would be another Jerry Reinsdorf intervention on the process. I gotta believe that in order to retain a minimum amount of faith in WillHahn.2 points

Guardians screwed by a rain delay with Civale on the mound could not be a more fitting ending2 points

Merk is a company man. as someone else said, I think you have to take what he says with some credence as he's likely being fed it. You'd be hard pressed to find a negative take out of Merk about the Sox. My personal and totally unfounded guess. I think you see Hahn have the decision and it's not a "Sox" name, but then KW, JR have their say and power to essentially push their own bench coach .... aka Jim Thome, Willie Harris, AJ Pierzysnki, etc. etc.2 points

Oh Dear God, they are going to screw this up aren’t they? They need to hire someone for the manager position from outside the organization that will bring in fresh new ideas. Thome as the bench coach or the hitting coach would be good, but not the manager yet.2 points

Conforto would be the best LH hitting OF we’ve had since what….2015 Adam Eaton? 2005 Scott Podsednik? This organizations inability to acquire a LH hitting OF that is actually decent goes back over 15 years.2 points

Seems like a big factor in Marte's 2021 performance being pretty rotten was a number of injuries including more than 1 hamstring pull. But the good news is the White Sox have an excellent record of keeping people healthy lately.2 points

Ron Washington isn’t coming here to be a bench coach. Chris Getz isn’t going to manage. Hire Shildt or Espada and I’m happy.2 points

Conforto for 12 million and a backend starter for the rest. Many names fit here. Clevinger? I am not in the camp of needing to spend 20 million on a SP. IF we don't get a Giolito/Lynn bounce back, it doesn't matter anyways.2 points
-
It doesn’t. My heart doesn’t want to see him in another uniform, but my head can’t find a rational path to bringing him back while also addressing RF, the need for LH power, improving the OF defense, and finding ABs enough for everyone.2 points

You just did more research and put in more time than the actual front office of this team will put into signing this guy. Kudos.2 points

Further making JR/Hahn look like idiots for being so stubbornly unwilling to change managers until it was far too late in the season and there was basically zero choice.1 point

Who needs Bryce Harper or Kyle Schwarber when you have Gavin Sheets instead? ?1 point

If they want an ex Sox player, they should hire they guy who is actually working in the biz and working toward being a manager right now: Willie Harris.1 point

I'm still hoping to flip Pollock for another bad contract with 2 years left...and so on...and so on. Let's see how long we can stretch out the suckiness of that Kimbrel trade.1 point

I love Thome as a person and eventually a position coach and then leader. That said, of all the boxes Hahn listed in the presser, Thome checks NONE OF THEM! I have to believe the Sox are trotting out all these red herrings so we will be satisfied with their ultimate pick. "Leaking" names like Thome and Getz perfume choices like Washington, Maddon and Shlidt when one of them gets picked.1 point

If the White Sox hire Jim Thome or Chris fucking Getz as manager, I’m done until JR sells the team. Life it too short to let a professional baseball team make me so angry. f*** em.1 point

@South Side Hit Men and whoever else is advocating that we aren’t going to see any changes to the organization right now is spot on. We are just being led on to think that it will happen under this ownership but it’s not going to happen until the organization is sold.1 point
-
For once, it would be nice to see this organization run a genuine managerial search and at the end hire whoever the best candidate is. The entire org is so petrified of stepping outside of their comfort zone, it's insane.1 point

Scott and Hahn are very tight given both are Michigan grads. I've been told he gets stuff from Rick that other media people don't so anything you see from him, you have to at least consider Rick may be feeding it to him.1 point

I struggle to come up with a trade that makes sense that nets us one of those guys. I am all for acquiring Marte, but a TA for Marte deal would be very bad.1 point

Don't think anyone will take him. Just gotta hope he bounces back a bit next year. And sure as hell not in the 2-spot.1 point

I even saw a tweet saying Ozzie is not out of the running. That may be true, but I'm not officially out of the running either. I haven't been interviewed, and no one from the Sox has contacted me. But they haven't officially said I'm not an option.1 point

Probably because they were close to $200 mill in 2021 and Hahn implied they didn’t have much spending room at the end of season presser. Pretty easy information to pretend you have sources on.1 point

I sure hope Rick Hahn's seat at the table keeps him warm while at home watching the stars he couldn't sign lead their teams to post season success.1 point
