Florida is literally like the worst state in the US outside of being warm & sunny.11 points

Or stop believing everything you read on Twitter from people that have ZERO track record and throw countless s%*# against the wall, cry for forgiveness when they get most things wrong, and the one time they “hit” (aka the s%*# sticks) everyone crowns them an insider. That’s also an option.7 points

I have zero respect for Hahn, even if it’s true (and Espada was my 1st choice). Hahn should still be fired.7 points

What is it about the Marlins current situation and their history that could possibly make them more attractive, unless you really loved 2020 and they try to recreate that experience every home game? Every team has warts. The Sox, with all of theirs, still have fewer than the others looking for a manager. And one thing you would know is the guy hiring you is going to be around no matter how long of a contract you sign.5 points

This can’t be over-emphasized. Having a $190M+ payroll with almost literally no depth is a CHOICE. It’s an inexplicably, embarrassingly bad one, but you can’t blame bad luck for that s%*#.4 points

It could certainly be that, but it would be extremely disrespectful to do that if a job offer had already been made to someone else. That would be roughly as disrespectful as having a manager's job and quitting on the team with 2 games left in the season as a negotiating tactic.4 points

this narrative is blown out of proportion. All teams are stretching the definition of cheating. I mean, look at the Astros now -- we have the headsets and these guys are still hitting. Boston got knocked for it. All teams were doing levels and MLB picked a franchise to make the scapegoat. There's a reason they didn't do much to the individual players. They made a few guys take a fall for a year or two. Just my two cents. Also let's not pretend sports is a place where we care about ethics and morals. No cheaters please, but go tim anderson go? End of the day, if you really want to you can be self righteous on like 20 different points and hate something ... or just like ... keep it light and cheer for some wins and fun to distract from life.4 points

I'd be very surprised if more than 1 coaching staff member not named Ethan Katz returns. I could see Cairo staying maybe. If the Sox are hiring an external manager, there is going to be a new coaching staff. Espada hiring Beltran as his bench coach would be *chefs kiss*.4 points

So it turns out people have different preferences when it comes to choosing a home state. Got it. Can we not do the whole proxy culture war that is the Illinois vs. Texas/Florida debate? Boring.4 points

Don't beat writers get paid to keep us in the loop on situations like this? Yet we're stuck with most of the managerial "updates" coming from anonymous accounts who are usually just making things up.3 points

My hunch: Hahn reads the message boards and sees the fans like Espada so he starts his rumor leaking to give him cover that whatever terrible manager they choose, people will think Hahn was handcuffed and wanted Espada. Its literally the only thing Hahn is good at.3 points

OK, let's be real here. Ozzie Guillen is 100X a more qualified candidate right now than LaRussa ever was when they brought him back.3 points

What part of Espada was not apart of those cheating scandals do people not understand? He was hired after that? It is interesting that Ozzie has an interview3 points

Did Tim Anderson orchestrate an elaborate, seasons-long, ubiquitous technology-assisted cheating system and steal a World Series that I don’t know about? Or are you actually comparing such an offense with garden variety marital problems with a straight face?3 points

Well, I live in Texas and have since 1994. This post is nonsense, I don't think we even ran the heater last winter. You can make the argument for Florida, but there are very few better places to live than Texas if were talking about weather and cost of living. In December when you're shoveling snow in 20 degree weather I will be outside in shorts and a t-shirt in mid 60's and sunny.3 points

Ozzie will never manage the Sox again, at least as long as Kenny Williams is around. I agree the bench coach of the Astro’s would be a good choice. BUT if Dusty blows it or decides to retire at the end of the season, he’ll get the job. Right now watching the Astro’s, he’d be my choice. Not the bench coach from KC, we need someone from a winning organization, not a last place team. I originally thought Bochy was the way to go but we need to go younger.3 points

Any kind of so-called cancel culture has nothing to do with Ozzie. If he had said those things about Castro when he was manager of the White Sox, the controversy would have faded in time. But he said them in Miami, and the political situation there is drastically different. There was the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Professional politicians watch what they say in Southern Florida. Ozzie got in over his head because of his big mouth. There was the bad way he left the Sox, and the Marlins couldn't get rid of him fast enough. Don't forget his dumb sons. Ozzie forgot it is the team that matters, not his ego. He was not a victim. He did this to himself. Plus he was a lousy manager the last year he was with the Sox. Enough of Ozzie already.2 points
