Conversation is good! I don’t even hate people posting “foodies” and having “discussion” around certain ideas. My issue is when people form actual opinions or wonder “I don’t understand why the White Sox are doing this?” When it’s not based on anything other than some random dude throwing darts blindfolded. It doesn’t give us any actual information and we live in an age when people can’t seem to discern fact from absolute fiction. That’s where it becomes a problem. Fake News.8 points

Nice. Just because 70% of my posts aren't just yelling out a players name when they do something in a game thread like lot's of others around here shouldn't mean anything as far as trying to interact with you guys6 points

Ozzie would have been perfect to take over for TLR halfway through last season to see if he could light some spark in the team. You have to go in a different direction now. I would prefer Espada or Quataro.6 points

Anyone think Hahn leaked this basically indicating this is who he wants but Reinsdorf is overruling him again like the Hinch/TLR thing?6 points

Man, y’all post on a baseball message board. We’re all fuckin dorks, who cares? If they’re not hurting anyone, let people like what they like.6 points

People that are okay with Guillen managing are falling for the Ditka affect. The fond memory of a former manager/coach based on nostalgia versus reality. Do you remember Ozzieball. I mean not the 2005 season, the rest of it. Do you remember his kids and the twitter s%*#. I see some very frustrating baseball and that TWTW crap coming out of hte woodwork. I see fights with umpires, fights with media, and other teams players. I see bunting for no reason. I see nothing that plays into modern baseball.5 points

I will once again reiterate that nobody knows nothin about the White Sox5 points

Downtown Nashville is great, but hated living in the suburbs there and simply missed everything Chicago (places, people, food, etc.). Just couldn’t see living there forever and unfortunately for whatever reason going to Sox games is one of my favorite things in the world. I’ve always dreamed of taking my two young sons to Sox games on a regular basis and have them share in this passion with me. Despite the s%*# show that is the Sox over the past couple months (and cancelling SoxFest is a big one), moving back to Chicago was the best decision in my life. For all its warts, I fucking love every corner of this place.4 points

Something to consider….It’s also possible after completing an interview….a managerial candidate can decide “This isn’t a good fit for me, I may not be interested based on what I heard.”4 points

I think most of this board gets this. Everyone and their mother on FB/Twitter is a different story…3 points

From DVS's story in the Sun-Times Saturday morning: But he (Guillen) told the Sun-Times that, as of Friday, he wasn’t interviewing for the job, contrary to reports he already had or will next week. https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports-saturday/2022/10/22/23414917/time-is-right-to-look-outside-organization-for-next-white-sox-manager3 points

I think Ozzie already interviewed and feels more like the Sox doing him a service by publicly calling him a candidate. Can't see them bringing him back.3 points

His breakdown about how a bank won't let an owner borrow against team value because they would then have to accept an mlb team as payment if they default is one of the dumbest things I've read on Twitter in a long time.3 points

I hope if they hire Ozzie, when they are 35-38 next year, Oney starts taunting Hahn on Twitter. I am with you though. There is no way they hire Ozzie. How can he go from not being considered in 2020 to the right guy for the job? Why wouldn’t they have brought him in as an interim when Tony left? There is zero logic. Hopefully his interview is just a ceremonial type thing.3 points

I think it’s quite plausible that this is as simple as Espada wanting to stay committed to the Astros until their season is over, and the fake wannabe insiders are just that. Consider me wholly skeptical of a few Twitter “sources” that don’t use their own name. I trust that Mike Rodriguez over any of them. It is also quite plausible that the Sox botched another situation. But it’s really not worth getting worked up about until the manager is formally announced.3 points

The only sense I can make out of interviewing Ozzie is getting his opinion on what he'd change with the club. Even doing that I hate bc of the circus that surrounds it. Other than that, Ozzie doesn't have any of the laid out characteristics from Hahn's presser. Last managed 10 years ago, last winning season 12 years ago, made the playoffs in two out of nine tries. Sure, he won a world series as a manager, but that was nearly 17 years ago. Not exactly "recent success" by any stretch.3 points

I’ll be honest, I’m trying to remain optimistic here, but the fact they’re planning to give Ozzie an interview is terrifying. Just no reason for it whatsoever given how he exited the organization last time. If legit, it just wreaks of Reinsdorf meddling.3 points

It was fun feeling for a few hours yesterday like they made a good move for a change. Of course it had to be to good to be true.3 points

If they hire Ozzie after the TLR f*** up I’m done. Out of town baseball fan until the White Sox are in competent hands. If that ever happens…3 points

"We recognize our fans are disappointed and thus we are canceling this event where they are able to hold us accountable."3 points

The Sox deserve zero fans the way they run things. Like literally, any non sports-related business would have gone under a long fucking time ago I’d they ran s%*# like Jerry’s org does.2 points

With this organization (and I use that term loosely) nothing is totally beyond belief.2 points

Looks like you can't believe anyone regarding who the Sox are hiring. I guess we'll have to wait until the big name reporters or the Sox themselves announce it.2 points

I get the thought of interviewing Ozzie is just doing him a solid, there is no interest in hiring him. But would it really be a solid? If JR isn't going to pull the trigger with him, who would? JR has recommended him for a couple of jobs. But if he hires someone else, why would anyone even consider his advice?2 points

I think it's Espada but this is a ceremonial thing. Especially because he's on the postgame show. But I think they likely see in Espada what the positive things were about Renteria while being a much better in game manager.2 points

I feel like next we are going to hear Jerry Manuel is getting an interview. What's Terry Bevington up to these days.2 points

Ozzie is being interviewed because they read the board and Greg is deeply influential in that front office.2 points

Ok, I will stop posting stuff from Comiskey Footlong or any of the foodies on this board. However, I will not stop posting information on here that I feel is good for the board and that people can draw up conversations about but this will only come from credible sources such as James Fegan or James Fox for example. Sorry that I took things personal last night.2 points

I’m not gonna lie… I don’t hate the idea of Ozzie… Much rather would prefer about 4 or 5 other folks but I could manipulate my mind into getting behind it. On one hand it would be a disappointment for sure but…. I like he has rapport with the players, he had his moments with us before shitting the bed…. And I think the potential for him having something to prove would go along with the players also having something to prove. He did a good job of demanding players play hard… I’m pretty sure he speaks Spanish even.2 points

I didn’t believe for a second they would hire LaRussa either when he got an interview. It was like one of those “that’s cute they’re doing a favor” things that quickly turned into a “wait wtf is going on here” thing. I didn’t think Ozzie had a chance, mainly because they said he wouldn’t now all of the sudden he’s getting an interview? Wtf is going on here, again.2 points

Thank you for the clarification. So the Twitterverse is out of control...... I'm shocked! Seriously, I am surprised Sports Illustrated ran with it if they didn't double source it. So essentially nothing really happened today?2 points

I don’t believe for a second they’d hire Guillen, but if they did I might have to take an extended break from the White Sox until Jerry’s reign is over.2 points

That would mean the Sox are seeking to fire people. Q theory fails. White Sox FO people have lifelong jobs like SCOTUS.1 point

Seems to me Espada said 'no' and someone jumped the gun reporting his selection. Has happened before. Honestly, I was skeptical at first about his selection because Miami seemed to be a more desired destination for him (he has a house in south Florida with his family) or he was happy where he was currently, knowing Dusty won't be around forever. However, I was fine with Espada, even excited. I am also fine with Ozzie if it comes to that. What's the difference between 2020 and 2022? Last season. A fanbase turning on the team, uninspired play, and no real direction from the front office plagued last season. No matter who the manager will be, he is on the hot seat immediately. This job is not an easy one. Maybe someone like Espada would get a honeymoon of sorts but that wouldn't last long. Plus, if the thought is the team mirrored Tony's vibe this past season, man, I hope that is true with Ozzie. At least it won't be boring. Let him interview. If KW and Ozzie are willing to bury the hatchet from 10 years ago, I don't see a problem. This team needs focus and energy (and better health). If that doesn't happen, it doesn't matter who is manager.1 point

His point is that the Sox aren’t going to hire any manager to a one year deal and Espada can’t just leave his contract.1 point

I am reminded of some old NWA lyrics... How'd he go out? He went out like a b****!1 point

I hope when we hire Ozzie it has a signature of Espada on the graphic.1 point
