These teams just don't get it. Why sign a great player to be great when you can sign 5 shitty players and hope they're all not shitty.13 points

Sure. Probably the best realistic option out there. Checks boxes that the sox desperately need. His addition will make gamethreads even more unbearable though.8 points

Perfect depth. He can come up and not miss a beat slapping grounders into the dirt and playing bad defense.7 points

This just reeks of we have no strategy. There strategy is see what comes there way and react.7 points

I am just going to say it out loud. If the Sox are going to waste yet another off season with half-assed moves, I would rather they just start selling and act like it. Pick a lane. Either you are contenders, or you aren't.6 points

I can't wait to have a seat at the 2024 Machado table.6 points

It's clear with in all of his "Hahn Speak" that Rick thinks Tony was a huge problem and Pedro is going to be their "Big Addition." Like always, he's convinced himself he's smarter than everyone else.6 points

If Elvis is our starting SS, we had better be trading a lot of other guys off, because the rebuild has begun.5 points

Nothing more throw-up worthy than the new found Mets stans at Soxtalk. Might be worse than Caufields borderline-illegal infatuation with the Padres.5 points

Remarkable that the Padres are in the 28th (I believe) largest media market in baseball yet they're able to load their roster up with stars. meanwhile, we're over here wondering if Jerry would allow Hahn to spend ~10M on Gallo. What a joke.4 points

If Adam Dunn could run & play defense like Gallo, he would have been a much better player. For as frustrating as this type of hitter is for some people, Gallo's well rounded enough to still offer value beyond just his bat.4 points
-
Yeah, Gallo is an actual OF whereas Sheets is an abomination anywhere you put him on the diamond. I’d happily take Gallo sucking over Sheets sucking at basically everything.4 points

This is ridiculous. Joey Gallo?? Just blow it up and start over. I’d rather watch young prospects play.4 points
-
The idea is you trade him for Lux (or similar) which solves 2B and then with that 14 mil you sign Conforto/Gallo and "solve" the OF and left handed hitting. It could work and aboslutely improve the team. If Kelly bounces back, this is still a fine bullpen4 points

Give us the goods, Greek'd PK. Who are the Sox getting in return for TA, Hendriks and Giolito!? Stop withholding the names!4 points

I get asked all the time why I’m a Sox fan still when all they do is make me miserable…like look, if I could just stop being a fan I would have a looooong time ago, unfortunately that’s not how this works.4 points

Cali, we get it, you're the greatest scout of all time.4 points

None of what Hahn said is "wrong" and these quotes are to be expected...but when you understand what took place with La Russa, and seeing their lack of activity this offseason, it becomes clear Pedro is expected to work wonders, and clearly Hahn believes La Russa actually cost them more than a handful of wins. The better approach would be to, you know, hire a new manager AND make impact additions to a team that finished .500 in their "World Series Window" but f*** me, right?4 points
-
Exactly. It’s pathetic. At least have a plan, and several back ups. I don’t understand how a team supposedly in the contention window thinks another GM is going to propose something to help the White Sox win.4 points

Yes. It’s not that the Sox can’t, it’s that they won’t. They refuse to. It’s down right infuriating at this point.3 points

One difference is Gallo can play defense. I mean - I don't hate it - on its own it isn't good. But its better than just rolling Sheets out there. I can't accept another season with 1B playing the corner outfield spots with a team built around pitching. Recipe for DISASTER. And if nothing else - maybe the removal of the shift will be good for him. I mean - it isn't like he had some injury derail him - he just got to NY and got into a funk. Its kind of weird for guys to fall off a cliff like that at 27/28 (and he's only 29 now). But yeah - low standards at this point.3 points

I watched his highlights from 2022 and something stood out…he crushed Dylan Bundy!3 points

Other than he’s historically been a quality defensive OF where Sheets ranked as one of the worst.3 points

Exactly. A lot of empty words. To go along with a lot of empty actions. I wish this guy would just not talk. I don't appreciate being taken for an idiot. No fan should.3 points

I never said I'd fully switch to the Mets, just buy their gear, because I figure I can actually adopt a full-time NL team for reasons I've stated ad nauseam. But we've heard you say you - Knew the rebuild would fail - Called Yermin's ascension (we haven't heard much about that anymore, despite you saying FutureSox was wrong about him) - Knew Frank would be a stud before anyone else and that he should have been called up sooner, even though he was called up midway through his second year after being drafted. Crazy fast. That's just off the top of my head, but man, you've got to give the self congratulatory stuff a rest.3 points
-
I've said for the past few years every Sox fan should work at keeping themselves healthy and hope to outlive current ownership because that's the only way things are going to significantly change.3 points

The rebuild was headed for disaster for the jump. Letting Hahn and company architect the rebuild was such a colossal blunder. This FO needs a $350 million dollar annual payroll in order to be considered legit contenders. Trying to rebuild when you have absolutely no idea how to scout, draft, and develop talent is a recipe for what we are seeing now.3 points

As frustrating as being a Sox fan can be, I would never even consider changing my fandom. Its in my blood. For better or worse.3 points

Remember when this guy said they don’t want players playing out of position anymore ??. He’s a liar, shitty at his job, pompous, smug, and I want to punch him in his face.3 points

Hahn doing nothing at the trade deadline, and perhaps the teams most popular player leaving you think would give this organization big incentive to make some news. And they will wonder about fan apathy.3 points

A Chicago team in the midst of a championship window is going to fill up the roster with Rule 5 players despite have glaring holes and being about 50 million below the luxury tax threshold? f*** this team. I'm out.3 points

Ohmygod. This is so stupid and I hate it. Why does MLB do such dumb things that they can (and should) get absolutely roasted for? They deserve everything coming to them. Judge's season was an all-time great and an incredibly fun thing of fans of all teams to follow, and now we're going to have people throw "well actually" asterisks on it. Completely avoidable and unnecessary blunder.2 points
