1. Username checks out. 2. This is how it’s supposed to happen. An investigation was held, I accept the results. I thought Clevenger was a dickhead well before the Sox signed him, and still hold that opinion. But there are plenty of guys that hold that title in sports and the world. Time for everyone to move on.6 points

Gio not having any goodwill built up after 3 very good years is quite something3 points

This is what scares me the most. In my non-expert opinion, he looked terrible last year. Not just the results. His stuff looked awful.2 points

I think Ramos is going to have a big year. Like what I'm seeing defensively at 3B too.2 points

And to the naked eye, his stuff was way down and seemed to give up a lot of hard contact.2 points

I kind of think his velocity will tick up after a couple spring innings.2 points

This. I am going Colas in AAA with a bench of Zavala, Leury, Marisnick and Romy. Only caveat to this is perhaps Alberto. He may earn a spot, which would be Romy’s. I’d still give Romy the clear leg up, tho that gap has to have closed some in the start of camp.2 points

“Man, he was as big as life. Dave was always a legend in the city of Chicago,” Jackson said. “And he was a good man for the game of baseball. If you had Dave as part of any organization, you’ve got yourself a true warrior going to war with you guys and for you guys. “That’s what I remember most about Dave when he was doing his job. He was there to let the people know the truth. He was there to be honest about the organization. And he wasn’t afraid to go ahead and hold people to task. I loved that about him. He’s going to be missed.”1 point

https://www.tampabay.com/sports/rays/2023/03/05/rays-radio-dave-wills-dies-andy-freed-stuart-sternberg/ "Before going to the Rays, Wills spent 11 years on the White Sox’s radio team in his native Chicago after starting his play-by-play career with the minor league Kane County Cougars from 1991-95. He also did radio play-by-play for the University of Illinois-Chicago men’s basketball team and assorted other broadcast work. “Dave was the classic Chicago South Sider: friendly, welcoming, big voice, big character, caring and die-hard when it came to his sports,” White Sox communications vice president Scott Reifert said. “The Chicago genes never completely left him, and he was celebrated each time the Rays visited. Dave loved baseball, and his voice and presence will be missed in ballparks and by fans across the major leagues. A sad day.”1 point

Zavala, Sheets, Burger and Romy (or Leury if the Sox don't have the gumption to DFA him). I like home runs and clutch hitting even more than I value good defense.1 point

Clevinger thread locked? This forum must be ran by 670 The Score. Seemed like she discredited her accusations every time she opened her mouth.1 point

Romy hit 32 HR and stole 29 bases over his last 480 some at bats in the minors. It’s not like he’s some schlub came out of nowhere1 point

I'm skeptical that Romy having the best off-season ever will actually translate to anything, but I'd love to be wrong.1 point

Absolutely. I don’t even understand those that think this is a bad exit. This board loves to make itself miserable.1 point

I don't think I would trade down that far. If the bears are picking in the teens they aren't going to get that same impact player. If the bears just go for quantity over quality, in a few years we'll be saying "they have a lot of good ayers but they lack the impact player." They will be a middle of the road good team. They need an impact a player and can draft good players later.1 point

Article on Kopech and his newfound comfort in his changeup thanks to offseason work. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/michael-kopech-increases-changeup-use Also of note is a glimpse into some of Katz's thinking with regards to what goes into arsenal development and game planning.1 point

Sad -only 58 with a family. He used to live in the Oak Lawn area, stopped in occasionally at TC's pub on 99th and Cicero. Friendly guy.1 point
-
Not much. He rake against LHP, but most of the roster does. He’s a better IF defender than Romy and apparently an awesome clubhouse/culture guy. Grifol raves about him recently. I think Romy makes the roster over Alberto, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see it go the other way.1 point

I think he’s referring to if the bench was Romy, Leury, Alberto. With the way they talked about Romy, I’d be surprised if he didn’t make it. Although I could see Alberto making it over him, with another NRI making it as 4th OF.1 point
-
At least one guy on the bench has to be able to hit. 3 utility players would be ridiculous.1 point
-
Yeah, he’s kind of a weird fit. Harold Castro , a left-handed bat, probably would have made more sense on a minor league deal.1 point

If you can plug in a guy like Billy who can make catches that are going for extra bases 90+% of the time, I’ll take that over having a marginally better but still below average bat. Honestly, I was on the fence but I just sold myself on Billy in the time since I started posting on this thread. What’s more valuable a guy who might put up a .675 OPS or the guy who can gut the competition by literally taking runs off the board?1 point

I really wish mlb would expand the bench so there were more room for guys like Hamilton or for that matter Sheets. With four bench spots, there’s little room for any kind of specialists like you’d see back in the days of ten man pitching staffs. How would you fit a Jerry Hairston on a roster today? Having a bat like that on the bench was invaluable. It’d be nice to have a bat like Sheets but he simply isn’t versatile enough with the short benches.1 point
-
If you have a starting outfield of Ben10, Robert and Colas...you won't need a late inning defensive replacement. But I think they go with Jake Marisnick for the 4th OF.1 point
-
I don’t think so. I’d go with Alberto, Romy and Marisnick, Hamilton or maybe another OFer picked up after cuts start happening. Alberto offers better defense in the infield and more upside with the bat, and I’ve never liked Leury in the OF. Although, I suppose he is passable there. Hamilton sucks as a hitter but when he does reach he is likely to score and I think his defense makes up for it when he is in the lineup.1 point

Bravo. The only game I plan to attend this coming season is Jose Abreu's homecoming and I expect it to be high drama and raucous. Reinsdorf will likely be miles away from 35th st for that series. Jose Abreu deserves a World Series ring. He should have gotten it here in Chicago. I hope the eventual new ownership will reach out to Jose. He would be an amazing ambassador. He is a class act !!1 point
-
Shouldn't Abreu as one of the "leaders" (as many of you call him), take responsibility for the animosity and "weren't a family" in the clubhouse? Isn't that kind of the "leaders" job?1 point
