I listened to about 2 minutes of this interview and had to turn it off. He started off saying Reinsdorf wants nothing more than to win, and that he has a deep love for the fanbase. Couldn't take him seriously after that.6 points

It's not that Andrus is good, it's that Merrifield is just as bad, if not slightly worse. Because Baseball is an individual sport masquerading as a team sport, the eye test means very little at the highest level. Numbers tell the whole story.3 points

Are people here really seriously suggesting that Elvis Andrus is a better player than Whitt Merrifield? F your stats.......do you all watch baseball? Andrus was absolute garbage for April, May, June........you can't win with guys who perform for 1/4 of a season.3 points

I take issue with point one. Every MLB team can afford guys who have the record of being quality starters at a position they need to fill. They just choose not to. I will go so far as to say 30 teams can afford Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto's next contract. Again, they just choose not to.3 points

If the Sox left Chicago I'd simply stop watching baseball, period, full stop. I would never under any circumstances become a Cub fan.3 points

Rangers cursed in the postseason. Shouldn't have allowed Dak Prescott to throw out the first pitch.2 points

How are people still thinking it made sense roster-wise to bring back Abreu?2 points

She may not be the best option, may not be good enough for many teams, but she is 10 times more qualified than anyone the Sox have hired in the 21st century. Our bar is set a little lower, and she clears it easily.2 points

I have almost no interest in baseball anymore. Like zero. This playoffs all I’ve seen is Bryce Harper talking about getting chills playing for Phillies fans. That was cool and really honest. What could have been. Haven’t watched any games though at all this year. Did TLR kill it for me? I don’t even know. All I know is I don’t care. Colson is exciting. That seems to be my only interest point. Maybe just wash the decks and start over with him and Robert? Again, I’m probably just going to check in passively going forward. Really weird considering my history but I have no regrets tuning it all out. It just happened somehow.2 points

I do not get these obsessions with utility infielders/outfielders. They're almost all directly interchangeable and are the literal last component you worry about when building your position player roster.2 points

I had to stop listening to the Soxtalk podcast. They recognize the same problems we do but their solutions are almost always meatball level. Justin Turner is 39 next year and is due to fall off a cliff any second. In fact, he would almost CERTAINLY crater once signed by the Sox because that's what happens to this team. Even if he's good there's no way you can trust him for more than a year, and then you're right back where you were. It'd be smarter to keep Eloy for one more season and see what he can do - Turner posted 2.1 bWAR last year so it's not like you need some amazing performance from Eloy to get to the same level, and Eloy has potential upside that Turner just doesn't at this point of his career. I also laugh about replacing Elvis with Merrifield. They're almost the same player with hitting, but Merrifield plays left field instead of shortstop.2 points

I did not see both series going 2-2. Hope they both go 7. Well really I hope the Rangers win in 7 and the Dbacks win in 6.1 point

Cool moment for Alek Thomas there. Some damn good baseball this evening.1 point

Our inability to develop baseball players who arent ready "out of the box" has been exposed. Colas likely lashed out last year because he saw how dogshit it was in our minors. I dont know anything about Colas and his demeanor but I am way less likely to give the Sox the benefit of the doubt than someone like Colas and myriad other young ballplayers who may have craved development in our org. Colas probably found that it was absolutely dog s%*# and then said he needs to be in the Majors around other ML players and coaches to actually improve as a player. Another wasted talent. Hopefully he catches on wherever he goes next.1 point

Nick Castellanos has produced 0.2 fWAR in 2 seasons for like $30 million. I agree he would be a perfect fit with the white Sox.1 point

I haven't heard anything specific but you have to think that's a big part of it. Like Fathom I think they're tired of his act and upgrading in RF is high on their list of things to do.1 point

If Adolis didn’t act like a jackass on the homer, maybe it goes the Rangers way. Baseball gods, guys. They’re real. Still don’t like the ejections, but actions have consequences.1 point

1st and 2nd nobody out in 2 innings and they might get 0 runs. Got nobody but themselves to blame.1 point

It was so obviously intentional. And the Astros really don't get the benefit of the doubt cause it's not the first time they've done something like this against the Rangers.1 point

They have to toss Bryan Abreu after that. It was so obviously intentional. Toss that b**** Maldonado too.1 point

Wow the Astros are some serious bitches. They plunked Garcia after his bat slam and it was very intentional.1 point

Kim Ng said she will pass on interest in Red Sox position. She must be going to take White Sox job........................1 point

its a shame because in my OOTP game he hit 50 bombs in his rookie year and put up a 1000 OPS1 point

Yes it was half a foot outside. The ump missed an obvious strike 3 on Maldonado to lead the inning off too. I guess you can call it even.1 point

Paddy is signing the older players following Jerry's way. Hahn drafted older college ready DHs and RPs following Jerry's way. Getz developed players in the minors Jerry's way. That's what this has been all about since he fired Roland Hemond and replaced him with Hawk Harrelson. It's all Jerry's way, everyday, everyway.1 point

Kim Ng seems like a nice person. I wouldn’t wish employment under Jerry on her or any other human being. Its the place to go for FO and players with no other viable options with few exceptions (Jason B. being one who has to deal with Boyer bullshit each year, and Jerry’s cheap ass when he made them announce road games in a Chicago bunker).1 point

Same here. No Royals for me. No Cubs for me. If they moved to Vegas I'd still follow the Sox. If they moved anywhere else, no way. I have been to Vegas so many times and know my way around there that it feels familiar to me. I watched so little baseball this season I'm no longer well versed in the game. I used to watch so much baseball. It's a pity the Sox ineptitude did this to me and other Sox fans. The Sox formula to lose fans has been so dramatic: first getting rid of Hawk (albeit he was getting old), then hiring Tony (although Tony looks like a genius getting these stiffs to play .500), then of course getting rid of Jose and hiring Pedro which is simply absurd and now Getz which is a monumental mistake. So we're stuck with this organization that can't even compete in the Central. Wow. p.s. The powers that be also ruined baseball for me. Home run or bust. Starting pitchers can't go through the order 3 times, only 2; the Paul Konerko adjusting the velcro every pitch (til they went with the clock thank God); and the insane amount of injuries in the game today.1 point

It’s all well and good if you choose to move away. But if they move away from you, it’s different. I’m sure we all have that friend who moves an hour or more away and then complains that none of their friends ever comes to visit, as if it’s on everyone else to make the effort to see you instead of you coming back to see everyone else.1 point

Screw Chicago. I have no love or allegiance to this city. I would absolutely stop watching baseball games if the Sox weren’t convenient for me to watch. I already stopped for several years and they didn’t even move.1 point

Non of the top pitchers are going to come here because 1) Jerry 2) Why would anyone want to come here1 point
-
Best plan I can come up with that the FO would probably go with is: Sign two of Ryu, Giolito and Flaherty to one year deals. I think Giolito will show he still can be a great 4/5th starter. I think Flaherty has a lot to give in terms of talent, but he'll have to stay healthy. Trade for Salvador Perez - I hope he's still a good game manager. He would help Gio and Jack improve their stocks, if so. Sign Will Smith as a relief pitcher (I'd go all scrapheap types though since a bullpen is a crapshoot and this team isn't ready to compete) Brandon Crawford as a SS Pickup the TA option and move him to 2B Sign two of k*** Hernandez, Joc Pederson, Jason Heyward off the bench as a utility man/platoon guys. This is not something I necessarily want, but I think that's the best you can do with the constraints the Sox put on themselves.1 point

Snell is going to win the NL Cy Young and Montgomery earned himself a ton of money by pitching well in the postseason. We're not sniffing either of those 2 pitchers.1 point

I really want nothing to do with Merrifield. I watched plenty of Blue Jays last season and I just don't know what he brings to the table. Versatility is nice, but when you suck at everything, versatility hardly matters. He feels like another guy the Sox would overpay right before he drops off the cliff.1 point

I think Jason Benetti is a solid baseball announcer, very good but not an all time great. However, I think he's an A++ football announcer. If there's not a big game I'm intent on watching, I'll look for whatever game he's doing.1 point
