I'm holding on Eloy for sure. If you want to move him, now isn't the time. He has so much more value to gain from a healthy season than he has value to lose from another mediocre one. And you're not reinvesting the money in any meaningful way anyhow.6 points

Without researching the rest of the mentioned candidates listed, Cole Wilcox would be an attractive addition.3 points

Yeah, I guess I don't understand the point of trading Cease to fill holes. If you're going to trade Cease, which seems like the likely outcome, they need to focus on getting a team to move 3 of their top prospects. Why do we care about trading for a 2B who isn't going to make much of a difference on a team that would likely lose 90+ games? Trading Cease means you are rebuilding. They may not want to use that word, but if they want to scare off the remaining fanbase, trade him for major league talent that just fills holes to "shake things up".2 points

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/tigers-to-sign-kenta-maeda.html It appears Detroit is the lone team in the division looking to compete in 2024. Nice they have a solid broadcaster to also keep the fans entertained. Sox will have five open rotation spots if they trade Dylan Cease. 2024 Free Agent Signings To Date - Pitchers $172.0M (7) Aaron Nota Philadelphia 4.2 Projected 2024 fWAR $30.0M (3) Reynaldo Lopez Atlanta 0.8 $26.0M (3) Joe Jimenez Atlanta 0.4 $24.0M (2) Kenta Maeda Detroit 2.0 $14.3M (2) Pierce Johnson Atlanta 0.7 $12.0M (1) Kyle Gibson Saint Louis 2.1 $11.0M (1) Lance Lynn Saint Louis 2.3 $4.5M (1) Colin Rae Milwaukee 1.4 $0.9M (1) Adam Kolarek Los Angeles A. Incorrect. Holmes is actually a Sox fan. Just jaded like most of us.1 point

Holmes is a cub fan and it increasingly looks like you are as well young man, which may explain why I am getting tired of reading your posts. The Sox fan base is deeply rooted, widespread, and here to stay.1 point

I'd be looking at the guys the Dodgers couldn't protect. Joel Ibarra comes to mind, great stuff but no control. Which other teams have loaded 40 man rosters, ie no space to protect guys?1 point

Article from MLBTR that discusses potential trade partners as well as possible returns. IMO, it’s very clear we’re not going to get much for Eloy. I think a semi post hype prospect that hasn’t been completely ruled a bust and a lottery ticket is about the best we could do. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/looking-for-a-match-in-an-eloy-jimenez-trade.html1 point

November 26, 1976 - It was a move that would pay large returns the following season. On this day, injured third baseman Eric Soderholm signed a free agent deal with Bill Veeck and Roland Hemond. Soderholm would become Comeback Player of the Year for 1977 with 25 home runs, 67 RBI’s and a .280 batting average. It would help lead the “South Side Hit Men” to a remarkable 90-win season. He missed the entire 1976 season with a severe leg injury suffered when he was still with the Twins and was one of the first proponents of the Nautilus exercise system which he used to get back to being able to play at the Major League level. November 26, 1991 - The Sox hired Gene Lamont as the new field manager replacing Jeff Torborg. Lamont was hired after Pirates manager and former Sox coach Jim Leyland highly recommended him. Lamont was a coach on Leyland’s staff. The quiet, laid back, Lamont would win the American League’s Western Division title in 1993 and be named Manager of the Year for it. He’d also guide the Sox to the Central Division lead at the time of the labor impasse in August 1994 which saw the rest of the season get cancelled. With the Sox having gotten off to a slow start in 1995 he was fired by the team in June of that season.1 point

How does Bowden have a job? It's mind boggling thinking he was ever a GM. His trade proposals are always so completely asinine. Is that his schtick or something?1 point

R-Truth, Randy Orton and CM PUNK returned?! I was hyped.1 point

I'd trade for him but he's a buy low option not a centerpiece. We should be stocking up on guys who are pump and dump options as we start the rebuild. The more of these guys we bring in and are successful with the shorter the rebuild ends up being. One of the huge issues with Hahn is just how bad he was at doing this and signing free agents.1 point

But, I read in the paper today that the Sox lost money in 2023....ya right! This team is a disaster, and I'm not sticking around to watch it.1 point

I started a new job. My boss said "Hi, my name is Rebecca, but people call me Becky". I said "My name is Kyle, but people call me Dick". She said "how do you get Dick from Kyle?" I replied "you just ask nicely."1 point

You are exactly right. And I, for one, am not going to push this team on my son. He can choose a team of his own liking that earns his attention.1 point

There would be no reason to be a fan of this team if you weren’t born into the fandom. If you were a new baseball fan with no ties to any team (parents/other relatives don’t have a favorite) and you were looking for a team to cheer for, this team wouldn’t be it.1 point

The problem is he's going to be on a decline from here on out and his defense will erode visa a vis his below average offense. He's much more useful to a playoff team who really needs to deploy that particular skill set.1 point

Is this a prelude to Eloy getting traded? The Sox way......Jerry to Brooks " lets get rid of his jerseys before we trade him since no one will buy them afterwards"1 point

To say your team needs to "clean up it's defense" is not a compliment, especially when they don't show any true power other than Robert to overcome their defensive deficiencies. If Eloy hit 40-HRs that would go along way to cover up his lack of speed and defense when he's allowed to play the outfield. He hit 18 HR in 456 AB's, not exactly my idea of a power hitter. Benintendii and whomever they put in RF is no better. We have 1 true outfielder that can hit for power and play defense. One 3B baseman who can play defense but if I believe all the stories is still experiencing long COVID, or maybe that's just all the energy he brings but it seems as if he could care less. There's not much else on this team to like, maybe Vaughn but he runs with a piano on his back and the Sox screwed him up by playing him and Sheets out of position. Cease is great, and then he's so-so but he's about the only one who can attract a trade partner. We have no other players worth mentioning or anyone else would want. https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-white-sox/getz-aims-to-strengthen-white-sox-defense-need-to-become-more-athletic/1 point

It certainly does when he can't stay on the field after injuring himself running to first base or getting stepped on in a scrum. His batting stance sucks also.1 point

Our new GM made the following statement to start off the winter meetings.....“I don’t like our team,” adding that it’s “not a well-rounded club” That's a great way to attract a potential trade partner. Hey let me trade for your great defensive shortstop, right fielder, 2b, catcher or starting pitcher for one of my underachieving, clueless, error prone players. I have to hand it to Getz for being honest, but not when you're trying rid your team of that type of player you don't advertise their deficiencies.1 point

"Van Lier brings it up between the rings", "from the twilight zone", "Butterbean from the corner...good". I wish I could think of more. Or this call....."The inbounds pass comes in to Jordan. Here's Michael at the foul line, the shot on Ehlo...GOOD! THE BULLS WIN IT! THEY WIN IT!1 point
