Props to Crochet. Has to be gratifying to know you can do this at this level and start off so strong. On the flip side…very frustrating. It’s not really a sliding doors moment, just another thing of like - how many other decisions based on expedience added up to this prolonged suckfest. offensively…we gotta get on base more.4 points

That's great, because I rank ESPN as zero for watchability. Maybe they should fire everyone, and just use AI to randomly generate content.3 points

Crochet is a guy you keep. Yes, the injury bug has gotten him. But this is a guy who came up in 2020 with just a few IP in the minors and made ML hitters look silly. He looks composed and dominant now that he's back healthy. He's worth the investment, imo. Kopech? Along with Eloy, the MOST disappointing of our rebuild hauls, imo. Incredibly gifted arm who pitches well when he's in the right headspace. Unfortunately, we're learning that, more often than not, he's in the wrong headspace. He's aware of it, too, and has taken measures to better prepare himself mentally. No dice...he just can't get out of his own head. He should be dealt the moment we can get something for him.3 points

He seems to be throwing easy, too. I think he could still be pumping them in there at 100-102 if he wanted. Mechanics seem reined in as well3 points

Crochet was dealing, flat out nasty. Good luck trying to hit against him.3 points

I rewatched the two RBI singles, and it's clear that the Sox strategy for overcoming being bad at hitting is being good at trigonometry.3 points

Two things can be true at the same time. 1. This is a very bad team and a win every 4th day won’t change that 2. They played a good ballgame tonight and deserved that W, so good on them against a great Braves team.3 points

I've watched like 90% of the innings live. It's been brutal. We get a hit like every 6th batter. It has been quickly brutal, which is nice. At least JR will suffer on concessions while we can get on with our day.3 points

For the Clevinger haters, there was another option in free agency, albeit not as good as Clevinger.2 points

Why should taxpayers pay for stadiums for billionaires? Especially in this day and age where fewer and fewer people follow sports? f*** these billionaires. Build your own damn stadiums.2 points

He sucks at baseball. Any "intangible" he's bringing is heavily outweighed by....his inability to play baseball.2 points

Nevermind that Garrett Crochet is almost 25 years old and has been with the MLB team since 2020. Its not like hes some greenie making his debut here. Maldonado is washed, has been washed, and is not helping anyone on this team.2 points

Bold of you to think this listicle wasn't written by an AI. Actually, I'm sure it was. ESPN publishes a bunch of these 'lists' that involve the author doing a little bit of math and creating an index in order to arrive at the rankings. They're stupid rankings and another pointless iteration of a story we've read 1000 times (the Sox suck), yet something tells me the average ESPN writer isn't doing any amount of math and is instead asking his chatbot "create an index ranking how fun to watch the MLB teams are'.2 points

I don't disagree with the assessment and suspect 2024 will prove to be one of the worst all time Sox season records. However, I actually enjoyed watching last night's game.2 points

Absolutely nothing with the weather nor forecast has changed over the past few hours. No reason to wait until 30 minutes before first pitch to call this.2 points

I agree. We can't just keep trading every good player for prospects. I like the quote, "Let's hold on to our nice toys." There has been countless posts on here about, "I hope this player or that player or both of those players are a having good/ great season so we can flip him. " Unless a player is free agent at the end of the year, let's keep our good players and try to add more good players next year, so that with emerging prospects the Sox might actually have a competative team next year. It strikes me as silly that the same people who are complaining that the Sox won't be any good until 2028 or so, are the same guys saying, "I hope he has a good half of a season we can flip him." Sorry this is bold; I typed it on google docs first and can't get rid of bold.2 points

May as well make it a bullpen day. They have no shot at winning this one (if it's even played?).2 points

Zavala and Iriarte are both excellent high ceiling prospects. Thorpe is more of a high floor. The more I looked into that trade the more I liked it. I’d be willing to bet Zavala and Iriarte are at least top 75 mlb prospects within two years. Iriarte is straight up filthy and Zavala showed very advanced plate skills at only 18 years old. This guy could be in MLB by 212 points

The way his slider breaks toward righties and away from lefties reminds me a lot of Sale back in the day.2 points

Why do you blame Sox fans for this? Sox fans think this way because it is our reality. You called it “constraints of the organization” but it’s a repeated strategy throughout the years due to one man. How many good pitchers do the Sox acquire and/or develop and ultimately trade away rather than re-sign once they hit free agency? The owner simply won’t pay for these guys on the free agent market, so until there is a new owner, it really doesn’t matter if you want to hang onto your nice toys or not. So unless Crochet wants to sign a very cheap hometown discounted extension, he will be the next good pitcher that you can start the countdown to being traded away, just like we did with Cease last year. “Honestly imagine if we had kept Cease…” No, I won’t imagine because it was never going to happen with this ownership. Everyone and their grandma knew Cease was gone.2 points

Kopech should be dealt at the deadline if he has a good first half.1 point

Deal Kopech in the summer. As long as everything is progressing right on Crochet, you probably try next offseason right?1 point
