Montgomery is good but he was a pretty high pick. We will see on the others, and he got rid of Mena. If you really want to put a feather in his cap for the last 4 guys, you either are Chris Getz or close to him. THEY ALL SUCK.7 points

I absolutely would be, as it would show they were willing to bring in a fresh perspective and moving on from an awful regime.5 points

It's not that simple, I think Sox fans would be more willing to give the new guy a chance if he was a qualified individual from a successful organization. The fact that it's Getz to most is a change in name only, and is seen to most as a continuation of the Hahn/KW regime until proven otherwise.5 points

Hahn should be rehired just so they can fire him again for the Benintendi signing.4 points

Benintendi is probably my least favorite White Sox player ever. I'm not sure who else I would consider. It's criminal he's the biggest contract ever given out. He's a fucking BUM. Should have been a DP. KC is awful.4 points

Andrew has anything of an arm and that runner is a gone goose.4 points

I'll repeat something I brought up maybe last year don't remember exactly. I was told Hahn would get pissed because he was hearing around the league the Cubs were basically laughing at the fact that he wanted Jimenez as part of the deal. He didn't care for being made to look like a fool. ?4 points

I think the majority of people are "crying" because for all of our lives the Sox have been a horse s%*# club under JR and his "friends and family" plan is seemingly endless. The next time he hires someone firmly outside the org, outside established White Sox thinking will be the first. It's been a series of yes men and internal promotions to bums going on 50 years.4 points

RE: Getz and his track record for developing players, I'll let someone else who (presumably) isn't on SoxTalk make my statement:4 points

I don’t think Barfield would be hiring and signing a ton of people from an awful Royals organization due to “comfortability”4 points

A significant portion of the fanbase has just been pouting for the last 10 months. The rebuild failed. It sucks. They are bad now. Get over it.4 points

He can be both because the main knock on him was that his fastball wasn't MLB quality. He got traded and immediately went from 90-92 to mid 90s. Those of us who didn't like the deal acknowledged his flaws with the Sox but also knew that a competent organization would help him find the velocity that the Sox couldn't.4 points

No one cares about Seby Zavala. He sucked and still sucks. Expectations are higher than developing a guy like Seby.4 points

I would like to see some guy not drafted in the first round, become a player who, if you team was actually good, you would expect to help win games. Where are these guys? You give the guy credit for Mena, yet he traded him before he ever played an MLB game. Nothing is ever on him. He got hired because he will bow down to JR. He owes him. He wouldn't be a GM for any other MLB team.4 points

I think it's important to note the game thread was stolen from @Bob Sacamano and that is the sole reason the Sox lost today.3 points

The confidence in the lineup is so low that the third base coach thought running into a sure out was better than trying to get a 2 out hit with RISP.3 points

What kind of dumbass send was that? That's shallow and Renfroe has a good arm.3 points

Get Benentendi out of the leadoff spot, he’s swung at the first pitch while his team is down a run about 5x this season already3 points

I’m not writing him off yet, but I have yet to see him display anything that makes you say “this dude can be our everyday RF” outside of the arm.3 points

Here's a crazy thought: Let's talk about the game tonight. I'm excited to watch it, and I feel good about that line up and the Sox chances to win. I, like everyone else, was really down on the Sox after that 0 and 4 start. But listening to the Atlanta game the Sox won, I heard that about mid-3rd inning of that game that for the year the Sox were 1 for 21 with RISP with 12 strike outs. That's amazing. No wonder they had lost 4 in a row with that stat. But then I thought about it and losing three one-run games with that stat kinda gave me a hope. There's no way a stat like that can last. I realize that some teams and players are better than others at batting with RISP, but a lot of batting with RISP is pretty much random chance. That kind proved itself in the Atlanta win when both RBI singles were very weakly hit. So, let's hope that bad luck streak is over, and I expect the bats and the runs to be better in KC. I hope Soroka does a good job, and let's see if the Sox can take this series.3 points

WestEddy is a White Sox employee, and you will not convince me otherwise. No other White Sox "fan" would spend this much time on here defending the White Sox organization, without getting paid to do so. The organization has earned no benefit of the doubt. There is no reason to have any confidence that THIS TIME they promoted a Reinsdorf "yes-man", will be any different from the last few decades of the same nepotistic bullshit. Nothing Getz has accomplished before being promoted, tells us he knows what he's doing. He was "in charge" of one of the worst farm systems in the MLB, until they started trading assets away to fix it. They have consistently spent high draft picks on guys that turn into below average MLB players. The White Sox haven't "developed" any impact players, aside from the ones that were fully EXPECTED to be impact players, during his tenure. In fact, one could argue the can't miss prospects ALL have significant flaws that the White Sox are seemingly unable to address. Players straight up regress with the MLB club, almost without exception. But carry on. This s%*# is entertaining.3 points

There's a billion things to critique hahn for. Turning Q into Eloy and Dylan is def not one of them. That was an A+ trade on paper for the Sox and in reality it was a B trade for Chicago and probably a D for the Cubs.3 points

You know your team sucks when there's multiple pages of people arguing about Jose Rodriguez and Cristian Mena.3 points

I didn't like them hiring Getz at the time and wished they did a more extensive search and interview process. That being said, its unfair to him to simplify it like this. He obviously is doing things differently than the last regime. If the system wasn't developing enough players while he was the farm director, that could fall on him. It also could fall on the guys picking the players. It also could fall on his bosses not listening to him in terms of promotions/demotions etc. Its hard to tell from our point of view. "Getz was director of player development, therefore every move he makes is bad,.. even when its an insignificant move like DFAing a fringe prospect that he failed to develop in his prior capacity as farm director" sounds like a nonsense take to me.3 points

Getz took over as GM in August 2023. What about when he was Director of Player Development from 2017 to 2020 and Assistant GM from 2021 to 2023? I don’t see much returns for his 6 to 7 years of work before he was named GM.3 points

This. I wouldn't have traded Rodriguez for Clevinger straight up, but that is what we effectively just did.3 points

Yep, they are so disposable and replaceable. The only team that has shown interest in Shaw the last two seasons has been the Sox.3 points

I made a long list of success and failures and you clammed up faster than Hawk when things went south in his final years as a broadcaster. Yeah, he gets the good and bad. It's just the fact that there's a lot more bad.3 points
