  2. Getting anything for Bummer is a win. He fucking sucks.

  3. Nastrini now 3rd on the team in WAR. I made that up but probably true.

  4. He's panicking. He has a plan, but as soon as he got hit in the mouth he started flailing for anything and everything. What he did over the winter made sense if he was trying not to rush people, but him releasing prospects to sign flotsam only to release them a week later is some OOTP crap. He really is acting like he isn't capable of doing this job.

  6. agreed. it’s a terrible situation. apathetic to antagonistic fanbase, awful product and replacing a guy who was respected and let go for bad reasons. I’ll cut him some slack. he’s just a young guy trying to make the most of his big break.

  8. On the bright side, the back end of the bullpen with Leasure, Wilson, and Kopech has been excellent this season. Too bad they rarely have a lead to protect.

  9. Maldonado, Lopez, Flexen, Hill, DeJong and Leone sucking was the most predictable thing ever. I think we all would have been shocked if they didn’t suck.

  10. Well you lost your 18th ranked org prospect while you were shuffling garbage out and in on the 40 man.

  11. Right. The worst team in baseball, but he is being dramatic. He's already shoving out guys he signed after only 3 weeks.

  16. Im finding myself wanting the Sox to lose in embarrassing fashion day in and day out. I would be even happier if they break some records along the way. Worst record is still on the table, the shutout record, worst OPS record, etc.. I consider myself a diehard fan, but what kind of fan wants their team to fail miserably? We can only draft 10th next year so why am i feeling this way? I dont quite know what to think anymore. does anyone else feel this way?

  17. If it doesn't make a difference why is he churning the roster like a shitty fantasy owner?

  18. Getz said pitchers didn't want to sign because of the defense. How would having to give up no runs for a no decision go over? This team is so bad.

  21. So we are supposed to applaud a GM who acquired terrible players in the offseason that should be DFA after a matter of weeks? The decisions taking place now don’t remove the fact that Getz signed all these losers in the first place. The fault always goes back to him, regardless of these sad excuses people want to make for him.

  22. Seeing AJP absolutely destroy the Sox today was awesome

  23. Why even bring them in at all? The thing I don’t get is why spend money on guys that have absolutely no potential trade value?

  24. He's changing the organization bottom to top. It's not going to show up on the big league team yet. This organization was a dumpster fire. It's going to take some time.

  27. Thought that was 450 off the bat. Good for Nick

  28. He just missed that. Nastrini definitely thought he gave up a grand slam when that left the bat.

  29. I haven't seen an announcer think every fly ball was a home run like this since 1998ish Chip Caray

  30. And it sounded awful off the bat as well

  31. Lopez making 4.3 million is absurd. Way cheaper options for the pedestrian production.

  33. Hey, you wait when it is a tie game in the 9th inning and he pinch hits with a walk off win to go 3-13 on the year!

  34. Because he’s an idiot. He wants the media and fans to think he’s taking care of this epic losing situation while pretending he isn’t the one who told us.

  36. Burger is over-rated. You want a steady glove like DeJong and Lopez to carry you through the playoffs. Chris Getz is a Warrior and knows these things. Jerry knows his guy has been battle-tested and has success written all over his resume.

  37. If we are talking about what the process of the trade was, most of this is not relevant. The point was to get someone who could actually help the franchise when it was good again, not to waste three more years with a DH. Eder was a top left handed starting pitching prospect before his Tommy John. Obviously if he had recovered quickly and not suffered a subsequent injury on his road back to the mound, he wouldn't have been available for a mediocre bat only DH. That's the thought process behind the trade. Take a chance on getting him healthy and back on the mound on a regular basis again to see if he rounds back into the form that made him a borderline top 100 guy. With his second injury he never went through the ramp up process of getting his strength and conditioning back post TJS, which was obvious with his still recovering velocity during the fall league. If you want to be hung up on his ERA in 8 innings of 2024, but not Burger's 88 OPS for 64 PAs, as some kind of disqualifying rational for why you don't make the trade last year, feel free to engage in your circular logic all you like. The bottom line is the kid has thrown 56 innings since the end of 2021. I suspect he is a guy who will get better as the season wears on as he gets back into condition to start.

  38. Just because everyone likes to point out when former Sox do well with their new team, especially Burger. After getting out of the gate quickly Burger is down to an 86 wRC+ (.228/.281/.421) and quickly fell back to 0 fWAR. He has started as many games at 1B as 3B, and is now on the IL with another core/oblique injury. I wish Jake well, but will again repeat that he's not a guy that is going to haunt the Sox long term.

  39. A big reason myself and so many fellow Sox fans I know are cheering on the embarrassment of this season is their attitude towards the fans. They truly think we are all morons. The Blackhawks came right out and told fans they were rebuilding, it would be tough, it would take time, and you can respect that, even if the team is terrible. The White Sox CONSISTENTLY feed their fanbase bullshit, and expect us to believe it. They don't try in good faith to be the best team they can, and then the team calls out the fans for not going to games and giving them money. I'm sick and tired of this piece of s%*# owner, his lies, his nepotism, his disdain for the fanbase, and his penny wise pound foolish approach to ownership. This organization will need to EARN my fandom back by showing me they are serious about consistently winning this division, and contending for a championship. Until then? Get fucked.

  40. It's sort of like the Joker speech in The Dark Knight. It's ok to be awful, but it has to be part of the plan. Everyone was pretty much on board when the Sox traded away Sale and Eaton, because we had seen too much mediocre baseball, it wasn't working, and at least they had a vision and plan in mind for what they wanted to become. So we were ok watching really awful baseball for a few years because there was this baked in pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that it was all leading to something. This isn't that. No one knows what the plan is. The Sox owner said he didn't want to "waste a year" after going through "the most painful season of his life" last season. They are far worse than they were last season. If Getz met the media in January and said: "Listen, I didn't agree with a lot that went on here over the last decade. I respect Kenny and Rick a great deal, but this roster isn't anywhere close to where it needs to be. I know Sox fans want a winner and they deserve a winner, but as the roster currently stands, where not very close. So I've got a lot of work to do, and it's going to take us all, as a unit, some time to build this foundation the way we know it needs to be built. I'm going to be as transparent as possible with this fan base of what we're trying to do, and I hope in short order you're going to start seeing those results on the field. It's going to hurt for a while, but my only goal here is building a sustained winner for the Chicago White Sox. We owe the city that." You say that, and the attitude of this fan base changes a good deal, in my opinion. Obviously results will be the true test, but if we are talking about where we sit on April 15th, 2024...a simple level set last winter would have done this fan base a lot of service. But of course, that's not what they decided to do.
