  1. And Chris Getz was hired because it wouldn't take him a year to turn this ship around - he even talked smack about the rest of the division - so nah, blaming Rick Hahn for Dominic Fletcher being the outfield version of Madrigal, Martin Maldonado being Yaz, Shewmake making the roster over Mendick, cutting Pillar is all on Getz.

  2. Some of the board has decided anyone they acquire is a real prospect while anyone they give up is not a prospect and not worth crying about.

  3. Posters like @WhiteSox2023 are going to be in shambles when guys like Pham, DeJong, and Fedde return real prospects. All I heard about for the first month of the season is how the Sox should have signed Amed Rosario and Michael Taylor because they would be great trade deadline flip candidates. Meanwhile, DeJong has a higher fWAR than both of those guys combined and Pham is about to do the same in a fraction of the games played ?

  4. I’ve been off and on this board for years. This is probably the most active I’ve been here in years and I’m still only around for a small fraction of the time you spend in here. Either way, all your whining and moaning last month about the offseason vet signings was for naught. As I said over a month ago, there were NO impact free agents available with the budget Getz was constrained to. You aren’t finding multiple quality free agents at less than $5M per year in one offseason. Quite frankly, the vet signings of Fedde, Flexen, Pham, DeJong, Hill, Brebbia have worked out far better than I could have imagined considering their bargain bin prices.

  5. Ive been a fan. as far as I can remember, for about 32 years or so now. Ive never known the White Sox to be as worthless as they have been for the last 12 years minus 2021, the fruit of our rebuild, which abruptly ended after one 93 win season. My lasting memories of the Sox is they were good for 83 to 88 wins and generally offered an enjoyable viewing experience most seasons. What has been going on for the past decade has been just total s%*#.

  6. I agree, I don't believe him at all that he cares about truly winning and the Getz in house hiring just proved to me that it's still the same s%*# different year. However, I do believe that no one likes to be embarrassed so the quicker this team craters out and Pedro is fired and eventually we move on from Getz by JR's hand or the next one the better this franchise will be. I really don't like my favorite baseball team being trash. Nobody here should be campaigning to keep guys like Fedde and Crochet and Robert so we can get a handful of extra wins out of a miserable season. The goal should be sustained success and cashing in on these guys now is how you get the chance to reach that goal.

  8. Sorry, should have said cheap controllable year. But point remains the same, $7.5M is an absolute steal for what Fedde is providing right now.

  9. Reminder that pitching is always overvalued at the trade deadline and this year will not be an exception. Now, guys who can potentially slot into a post-season rotation and provide regular season innings (say Fedde) are going to be far more valuable than your pure innings eaters (like Flexen). For low market teams that are strapped for cash and big market teams up against the luxury tax, Fedde’s reasonable and attractive option will be highly valuable. He just needs to keep pitching well to convince other clubs that this new version is the one to expect going forward and the not the guy who had to go to Korea to prove himself.

  15. Were fans of arguably the worst franchise in MLB history all things considered. Been around since 1901 and have made the playoffs 11 times. I am OK with them losing to such an embarrassing point it forces changes to be made. We just saw this happen last season when the front office guys with seemingly lifetime contracts were finally let go because of the 100 loss campaign. You think they were getting fired if this team was 81-81? No shot.

  16. At 12-29 and coming off a little hot streak a lot of people are now "See, they weren't really as bad as it started" however, their pyth. W/L is 11-30, so yeah its still pretty bad overall. This team is still not going to be competitive next season, so with that in mind if im the GM, the following names are on the block right now and traded this season pending.... If the offer blows the doors off: Luis Robert (Otherwise, get him healthy and trade in the off-season/2025 deadline) If the offer is strong with legit prospects: Garrett Crochet (Otherwise, finish the year hopefully strong and trade in the off-season/2025 deadline) Must be traded this season by the deadline, ranked by expected return: Return Tier 1: Erick Fedde Return Tier 2: Michael Kopech; Steven Wilson Return Tier 3: Tommy Pham; John Brebbia Return Tier 4: Gavin Sheets; Paul DeJong; Chris Flexen

  17. Sheets is on pace to start over 80 games in RF. Vaughn is going to start 120+ at 1B. Currently with Robert hurt the team lacks an actual MLB CF and that player (whoever starts) is flanked by noodle arm Beni and a glorified DH. Maldonado and Lee combine to be below average and Debong and Lopez are average or above -- but again, we don't have a legit backup SS, just like CF. Us fans didn't know that Shewmake and Fletcher weren't actually a MLB caliber defensive SS and CF respectively, but man you'd hope the GM and scouting staff would know.

  18. lol And before anyone brings up Moncada or Robert's injuries: People say they get reliably hurt and if Getz didn't need a year to assess things, he'd have revamped the medical staff for this team's hilarious amount of soft tissue injuries the past few years.

  19. From the perspective of flipping the SP and maybe a position player or two the season so far has been a success. That's quite the narrow grading system but if it was a pass fail they've at least passed that area. Not sure why people would be arguing otherwise. You can argue about being 18 under on May 13th or something but arguing that the flip candidates haven't been raising their value or holding it is dumb.

  20. I think the question is - if you are getting say a 175-225 type of prospect (and a filler) do you actually trade him if you were the Sox or do you keep him and see if he can continue to develop and see what happens a year later. It isn't like the Sox have to trade him at the deadline. If he pitches well and you can get some good stuff for the long-run great, if you are just getting a lottery ticket than I'd rather keep him and see what you can get if he shows a longer track record (ideally) of quality pitching.

  21. I’m not saying he’s bringing back a top 100 mlb prospect but someone like the guy Grossman brought back sure. That’s all guys like Rosario or Taylor were ever going to bring back too (in the best case scenario).

  22. I'm not sure that he'll tank again. He's been a real good pitcher for a full season twice. His stuff has sure looked legit for several weeks. If he is healthy and stays healthy until July, the Sox will get a real prospect for him.

  23. if fedde is good enough to sign to an extension for 2026+, another contender is gonna obliterate any offer the Sox make, in both years and money you trade him asap

  27. As said ad nauseum, it's his perceived rate of exertion of what he can do without pain. Should we go to the examples of smiley face and frowning face medical professionals use with children. That's another example of ways to use patient feedback on how they are doing. Another one is rating your pain on a scale from zero to ten with zero being no pain at all and ten being going to the emergency room.

  28. I just looked it up. His OPS is barely higher than Nicky Lopez or Andrew Benintendi's. (.018 and 0.11 respectively) Lil Nicky actually has a better bWAR (-0.3 to -0.7)

  31. If Sox can sweep the Nationals on Tuesday they officially are merely a bad team, not historically bad. If the Sox get swept, that is really gonna be deflating and could lead to another bad losing streak. If the Sox split, it means nothing. Just my takes.

  32. The one thing we CAN say is that, while he doesn’t have the track record, he did have top prospect pedigree. That and a buck will still get you a cheap cup of coffee, but IMO it seems like if you have that one-time prospect pedigree, you’re more likely to be seen as a “guy who finally figured it out” rather than a flash in the pan… ergo, you have a slightly higher trade value. It’s not worth nearly as much as a track record, but it’s worth SOMETHING.

  35. KW was retiring anyway and if he let KW go JR had to let Hahn go, it was just a PR move to get JR some attention so he could pretend like he really cares about winning. If he really cared he wouldn't have hired a GM and manager with zero experience. Remember when he said hiring Getz was the fastest way to turn this around....well how did that work out for us?

  36. If you're a true fan, it's never entertaining to watch your team lose. We may boycott the stadium and JR but to wish for the Sox to lose the most games in MLB history, is what I would call a traitor or a Cub fan.....take your pick.

  37. The Bud Light boycott is a different animal. I like beer, and it's as simple as grabbing a pack of Miller Lite or Coors Light instead if I choose to boycott Bud Light. Still get to drink beer. No additional cost or effort involved. I like to go to baseball games. If I boycott the Sox I would need to go to Cubs or Brewers games, both much more inconvenient and expensive. As annoyed as I am at JR I am not going to let him take away something I really enjoy.

  45. I wasn't hung up on this anymore, I wasn't even thinking about LuBob. Then Schriffen had to say "oh he was at 90 percent but now he's at 70 percent and we want him back up to 90 percent". What the f*** does that mean? I don't think anybody knows. just say 69 percent. at least that's funny.
