  2. Who gives a f***? Do you have actual opinions about Luis Rodriguez or are you just looking at their birthdays?

  3. Everyone's joking around acting like this is impossible but if they kept Luis Rodriguez, who knows what could have happened.

  5. The trade is fine. Holy cow. Corey Julks is outfield depth for a bad team and Luis Rodriguez is nothing. Just pretend it was cash instead. Everything is okay.

  6. They traded a guy who throws slower than Drew Thorpe, who most people hated because he doesn't throw hard.

  7. Do you have "Chris Getz" inside a heart like a stereotypical MOM tattoo on your ass?

  8. Again…what would that “1-2-3” punch accomplish? If the goal is to build a competitive team for multiple seasons, how are those three accomplishing that? As others have mentioned, instead of being 14-30, they would be 18-26? This team is desperate for talent in so many areas and are a long way from competing. Hanging on to veteran talent accomplishes next to nothing, aside from a handful of more wins in a season where they will be lucky to win 65 games with or without those guys. And if you are that enamored with Erick Fedde, then go out and sign another one, didn’t cost much to acquire in FA.

  9. sounds do-able. going to clear out the calendar for October

  10. As much as I want to assault you for even posting this, lets just consider this.. Assume they need 90 wins to make the playoffs. They would have to go 76 - 42 the rest of the way to get there. 76 - 42.

  11. 2 shutouts in a row.. of the opposition no less ! Sox 10-7 the last 17 games. Pretty soon they may only have twice as many losses as wins ! What a team ! Edit: Make that 11-8 in last 19 games.

  12. I tuned in while at work for a minute and saw a cool graphic that said he ranks #1 in MLB for catchers for Pop Time and Throw Strength. Very nice to see.

  13. I will be honest, based on their AAA numbers, I would rather see Julks get a run here.

  14. A lot of hand waving over bottom of the roster churning. Fletcher getting recalled is the biggest move here.

  16. If Fedde continues to pitch well until July, Getz might be able to trade him for a 36-year-old reserve infielder.

  17. If the White Sox come back and make the playoffs, Grifol deserves to be named manager of the year and given an extension. Again, I don't anticipate it happening and anything less deserves him being put out on the streets. However, I am giving him an out if they can keep winning at a .700 cllip into October.

  20. Again, I don't anticipate this to happen but going 6-2 in the last 8 games is nice. Keep that pace up and they'll win 88 more games this year. Miracles do happen and I'd love to see Grifol, Getz, and company prove us all wrong.

  21. He's way more valuable to the Sox as a trade chip than a 33 year old pitcher making $20 million a year in a rebuilding cycle.

  22. Ozzie roasted him a bit for calling out Ramos for missing a hit-and-run sign. The reporter wasn't even asking about that part specifically.

  23. haha So your analysis is even more surface level than I previously thought. I figured you were arguing "Luis Rodriguez shouldn't have been traded for Corey Julks because Julks is older and I'd rather have Rodriguez because he is younger" when its actually "I don't want to acquire anyone unless they are early 20s no matter how little or insignificant the cost is"

  24. Can you show me these statistics that you are referring to that show 28 year old Julks is a good major league player?

  25. Not one to turn down more pitching, but they desperately need some outfield prospect help.

  26. I think people like to whine just for the sake of it. Julks is an actual good player who's proven to be and you've never heard of Luis Rodriguez until opening this thread. He isn't very good, he isn't Cristian Mena. This actually seems stupid from the Astros side of things but I guess they want to role with Cabbage as their fourth OF, a guy they got in a similar move as this one from the Angels. And bats from the other side of the plate which seems to be a weakness in the Astros lineup. I think Julks is better than Cabbage, just right-handed. Julks is probably a weak side platoon guy so I don't think this necessarily blocks Oscar. Kind of seems like the Sox just shuffled Grossman/Rodriguez for Julks/Hoopii-Tuionetoa. So a moderate increase in talent without really giving anything up. Fireable offense evidently

  27. A UCL injury several hours before a deal would have gotten done. J/K. I said the other day a top 200 guy and maybe change. If he keeps this up, it will be more than that. Borderline top 100 guy and another in the 250 range, one pitcher one OF? Something like that would be the dream take imo.

  28. We have a troubling trend of adding guys who will age into their 30s before those younger 20ish counterparts can even be dreamed on like Mena or this guy. We already KNOW they are certainly not going to be members of the next White Sox playoff team...so what's the point beyond repairing this year's major league record on the fringes?

  29. Trading a 20 year old with minimal minor league experience in the states for a 28 year old AAAA player is just organizational malpractice.

  30. God, Getz seems to be a downgrade from Hahn. Goes to show that we should be careful what we wish for. Idc if this kid turns out to be nothing. This is a fireable offense on principle

  34. He's going to hit 92 twice in his next outing and half the board will start telling everyone the Astros unlocked him and he throws mid to upper-90s now.

  35. Julks is actually somewhat interesting. Has big time power, has speed and is a decent OF. Still has two options left. Don't love giving up a lottery ticket for him, but happy to give him some reps down the line.

  36. Oh...wait a minute. This damn clown did it again...traded a 20 year old in Rookie league, for a 28 year old journeyman OFer??? AND, Julks was DFA for Houston before this? So stupid. Stop treating the organization like your personal save of MLB the Show, asshat.

  37. Is there a consolation prize for 60-to-70 wins that I am not aware of? Would you really be more excited finishing in that range of wins? If so, why? A losing season is a losing season.

  39. Is Fedde the guy who pitched overseas last year? Is he good? If he is we got 3 good starters. This team is not that far away from competing if they got 3 good starters. By my count we only got one good reliever though. Kudos to Pedro for not benching Vaughn in game two. Those 2 homers have to help his confidence some. If he'd been benched we woulda got swept and he'd be despondent over his badness in game one. Nice catch by DeJong. Kind of weird we're playing way better without Robert and Moncada. It'd sure help the team if Mendick was healthy.

  40. "I don't like the fact that he's the manager of the team [the Sox]. Ramos does a good job playing baseball and he is a terrible coach" - me on Grifol.

  41. Crochet's making $800k this year, with 2 years of control left. What could he possibly make in those 2 arbitration years? $4m and $12m? You could buy out those two years for 2 option years of $15 each? Then he enters FA as a 29 year old. If he doesn't make it to the end of the next 2 years, he's probably set for life, anyway, including the buyouts.
