The more times I see this replay, the more I think it might be the worst call of all time.8 points

Stop.....that's not on him at all. He walked back to the base during a pop up.6 points

I get that their current best prospects were all drafted outside the top ten, but I can’t follow the logic that removing ten of the best players available from their draft board is somehow good for them.6 points

Your logic still makes zero fucking sense.6 points

That’s the worst call I’ve ever seen. It had no impact on the play. You’re going to see infielders purposefully running into stationary runners now.5 points

Schriffen is really saying Pham is getting others to take their game to another level. Who John? I want to like Schriffen so much, but he’s a joke.4 points

Clevinger currently rocking a WHIP of 2. Lovely work from Getz bringing him in and getting him much needed work...4 points
-
Well, at least we don't have to waste a bunch of time speculating on whether Clevinger will bring any type of trade return this June/July.4 points
-
The patience and extra years go flying out the window when we remember that an actual search wasn't done because Getz was supposed to be able to skip an org assessment and get the Sox on track ASAP.4 points

Clevinger VS Rodriguez I'll be at the game today. First game since 2022. O's just got swept so maybe the Sox are catching them at the right time...although they're probably looking at the Sox and thinking to themselves "Thank Gawd." Clevinger starting definitely gives me a lot of hope in this one ? LET'S GO CAMPFIRE MILKSHAKES!3 points

Exactly. I might (key word “might”) be able to get behind the call if the catch happened right after the “almost” collision. But he ran around Vaughn, ran forward another ten feet, and then camped under it for a bit. It had no effect on the play. And it was an infield fly rule. It’s baffling.3 points
-
That was an awful call. It’s infield fly anyway. There is no reason to screen. One of worse ways I have ever seen a game end.3 points

I hate being that guy, but if you can’t build a team full of replacement level players then you dont deserve to be a major league GM. Yes, Robert and Moncada are hurt and yes Benintendi is a nightmare that Getz assumed, but so many of the negative fWAR guys are of his own doing. Maldonado has no business a major leaguer at this point. Vaughn should have been sent down a while ago. His big acquisition in Fletcher has been terrible and the depth pieces he acquired in Lopez & Shoemake are simply bad to little surprise. A person with any level of pride would quit out of embarrassment, but not Chris Getz, he’ll ride this wave of unwarranted good fortune to Jerry’s grave.3 points

Colas has struggled for sure. Though at least better than steel walker! Not sure if you heard this story, but I think maybe keith law mentioned it once? Anyways, apparently one of the senior scouts said he would quit if the sox passed on steel! thought he was an allstar! The only way to get over that is probably to take a spin in a v8 Jeep Grand Cherokee and let it rip on the open road.3 points

Fulmer (8), Collins (10), Madrigal (3), and Vaughn (4) were all top ten picks. Sale (13), Anderson (17), Burger (11), Crochet (11), Montgomery (22), Schultz (26), and Gonzalez (15) weren't. Rodon's the only top 10 they've hit on, recently. You're welcome for the knowledge.3 points

I think they thought they were 65 to 70 wins bad, and maybe close to .500 with some luck. Then pretty much everything they did was wrong and they freaked out. Now Baghdad Bob is making the rounds telling people that all is well. The Americans will never invade Iraq.2 points

The number of pitchers who have signed really late in ST or into the season and had decent seasons...seems to be about a 1/4 or 1/5 chance it goes well. Seems to be even tougher for hitters these days to ever get their timing and swing down with so many max velo pitchers out there.2 points

I'm glad they waited so long to call Clevinger up. Needed to wait until he was ready. Loser.2 points

In my experience the 4K broadcast will look better on non 4K tvs just because of the higher bit rate. Even if you don't have a 4K TV. In reality unless you are sitting within 10 feet and/or have a 60" TV you won't really notice anyways. The Amazon 60FPS HDR 1080p broadcasts are stunning on sunday night football.2 points

Don't flatter yourself. You attract an outsized level of attention for your propensity to make ridiculous statements and then run away from them when someone tries to get you to clarify, all while wrapping yourself in the martyr flag. Your most common post is quite literally "I didn't say that." If you don't like the attention that this brings, stand behind and defend your work like the rest of us.2 points

The one thing I will give Getz credit for is bringing in Bannister. No idea how they convinced him to join this s%*# show of an org, but he seems to be making a difference where he can. I just have zero faith Getz has any idea how to build a competent group of position players. And when his key advisers are Gene fucking Watson and a dude who pushed to acquire Dominic Fletcher I become even less inspired to give him the benefit of the doubt.2 points

I was thinking about this last night as well. I have been inclined to say "be patient" and "give him a couple years" but as you said, it's quite hard to swing and miss so badly on all the types he brought in without a serious flaw in your player evaluation process. Given that Getz was part and parcel of the failed Hahn era that saw the same flawed process maybe it is already time to say enough.2 points

I’m trying to figure out what has changed the last couple weeks where the Sox seem now committed to Nastrini taking his lumps. Why weren’t they last week? Will they still be if he has another start like the last 2? It doesn’t make any sense to me.2 points

I am fairly confident that Grifol has a job through the end of the season and, likely, at least into next season for a few month, but how bad does it have to get before even a person as stubbornly obtuse as Jerry has to make a change? The guy is the anti-thesis of what you want for a rebuilding franchise. He has zero feel for the game, no idea how to manage a pitching staff, continues to put out mind-numbing lineups, and appears to have completely lost the locker room. That is a completely toxic environment for any young player to be trapped in for a full season. The worst offense may be that he continues to throw young players under the bus for silly mistakes but then says Beni is a “pillar” in the lineup and he keeps throwing out a 37 year old catcher with a sub .300 ops that can’t frame, block, or throw, because he like the way he “puts the fingers down.” I know the Sox have had a lot of bad managers, but Pedro is the worst manager that I can recall in all of MLB during my lifetime.2 points

146 plate appearances, .669 OPS, and 2 injuries already this season. So what exactly is Eloy good at, considering he can’t play defense?2 points
