As I said, if that is "interference" then you coach your guys to just run into any base-runner, even if they are on the base, during any infield fly. Literally no downside. At least we got fucked by a bad call in a year it won't matter at all. Hard to even get too upset given our team is so awful.5 points

It’s more just pathetic how Pedro folded4 points

I'm convinced Maldonado's main role is for PR purposes. By taking playing time away from Lee, he's making the fanbase fall more in love with Lee. That way, when Lee is finally the starter, he's got the full fanbase behind him. That's all I can think of, anyways.4 points

Cool, can I read his fangraphs without seeing a negative in front of his fWAR?3 points

MLB app says it’s an injury delay. Did Eloy fall off his recliner at home?3 points

Hindered is doing a lot of work in that rule. How do you "hinder" an infield popup exactly when it's an automatic out, or, even if you think it wasn't an IF fly rule, how was he "hindered" when he camped under it for a good few seconds and easily made the play? The umps fucked it up and Pedro should have gotten himself ejected even tho the game was over.3 points

The more times I see this replay, the more I think it might be the worst call of all time.3 points

On Apple TV. May or may not get this one in, but the forecast has improved since this morning. Also, thanks to whoever recommended Ted Lasso to me during last Apple TV game. Just started season 3 and absolutely love it, even though I've never cared for soccer.2 points

There are 75,000,000 reasons why they should. Can we get our resident economist @caulfield12to talk about sunk cost fallacy?2 points

You can’t keep playing Benintendi. Fletcher and Deloach are awful, but they should be playing before him.2 points

I always thought the win probability thing was dumb. Like, thanks for telling me during an 8-0 game with 2 outs in the 9th that the win probability is almost 100%. I could have never guessed. Hey, some dudes like porn. Others like equations.2 points

The ump crew has to be suspended. Seriously, 9.9 out of every 10 fans would know that was not interference. It's incomprehensible the ump crew could be that dumb.2 points

That's a really bad call. I like John getting upset, f*** it. Has nothing to do with the IF fly rule that is not interference by even the strictest interpretation imo. Like how is the SS "hindered" from making the play there? He camped under it if this is how they are going to interpret the rule then defenders should just purposely go hit baserunners every time there is an infield pop up.2 points

That horrible call by the umpire would NEVER have happened at Yankee Stadium against the Yankees. Because our team is crap and our manager is incompetent, the umpire made the horrible call against the White Sox. Absolutely no respect from anyone on this dreadful organization.2 points

Weird. I wouldn't pay Cease at all. He's not the type of arm I would pay. He just doesn't get deep enough into baseball games. It doesn't mean he's not good, but he's just not the type of arm I'd pay. Crochet is incredibly efficient with his pitches, and he's got a great build. I would pay Crochet well before Cease if I was going to bet on one or the other.2 points

Turns out it wasn't. Bonilla was owed around $6 million when the Mets let him go. To get him off the books, they agreed to 25 $1 million deferred payments. The $6 million went off their books, they then bought a high paying annuity with it. Of course they bought the annuity from Bernie Madoff.2 points

In basketball, they often talk about players working back by scrimmaging. Then they might go to the Gatorade League or come off the bench or have a minutes restriction because there isn't a minor league system to rehab in. Seems like a flaw of the NBA to not develop a proper minor league system actually, there's enough basketball talent, not a flaw that the MLB has that. I don't really know what happens in the NFL, but they play 16 (17?) games and not 162, they don't really have the same luxury of time. They also play once a week and not daily. They also don't really seem like models to follow when it comes to injury recovery, frankly. Also, your claim that basketball players "get right back to playing" is just dumb. they take every other game off, occasionally entire seasons. Anyway, this thread rocks. I came to post how it seems like Luis is about 96% recovered, after the home run it might be about 97.5%.2 points

This umpire has been really bad for a while but this is the most blatantly bad call I've ever seen. Move over Angel Hernandez, there's a new whipping boy. His name's Junior and he's funny looking too. as far as the game, my takeaway is that the Orioles need bullpen help and should trade for Kopech.1 point

Eloy must love the offseason when he's not hurt. Is his only hope for the future in the game to lose 60 pounds and just reinvent his body? I mean he's done, finished. He can't stay healthy for more than 10 games or so at a time. He's so tall he needs to turn into a lean machine, a Claudell Washington body type. I tell u he should never play another game in a Sox uniform. Just get rid of him.1 point

Well I guess turnabout is fair play. Remember this: August 24, 2008 – One thing White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski had going for him was his brain. A.J. was always thinking, always trying to get into the heads of the opposition and always willing to try something to gain an advantage. On this day his quick thinking directly led to the Sox winning a game, in the middle of a pennant race, that perhaps they shouldn’t have. The Sox were tied with Tampa Bay 5-5 in extra innings when A.J. led off with a single. He was on second when Jermaine Dye hit a ground ball to the Rays Jason Bartlett. Pierzynski broke on contact and was caught in a run down. However obstruction would wind up being called on third baseman Willy Aybar by umpire Doug Eddings when A.J. stuck his arm out and made contact with Aybar after he had already made a throw. The ruling was that even though Pierzynski initiated the contact it was the responsibility of Aybar to get out of the way. A.J. was awarded third base and eventually scored the winning run on a single by Alexei Ramirez.1 point
