Fucking guy wants to talk about making adjustments but had TA near the top of the order almost all last season and insists on hitting Vaughn there this season…4 points
-
It’s a bunch of young guys and AAAA players, it’s the coaching staffs fucking job to help them make adjustments. If only the former Director of Player Development wasn’t watching from a skybox as the GM. What a piss poor organization.4 points

05/23/24 Seattle Mariners designated LHP Sammy Peralta for assignment. 05/23/24 Seattle Mariners signed free agent LHP Dallas Keuchel to a minor league contract. you mean we could've had Keuchel?!!?3 points

You do realize that the longer they wait to deal Robert, the less value he will have because he always gets hurt. He isn’t signing a second large contract with the Sox, it’s pretty much over3 points

I'm guessing he said what Hahn and Kenny wanted to hear then blew smoke up JR's rear end. I mean this guy was with the Royals for a decade and they passed on him twice for their managerial opening. That should have been a major red flag.3 points

Here's the situation and everybody in that clubhouse knows it: 1) The team sucks. When you look across the room or you step into the on deck circle you know the guys aren't likely to come through. That puts additional pressure on you. 2) The manager sucks. Everybody knows it. Players talk amongst themselves and will lash out at the manager eventually because they want to blame at least some of their performance on the bad manager. 3) Death spiral. Everybody gets paid to no need to cry but that's what it's like in the working environment for every single minute of every game. I'm sure it's looser before and after, but during the games nah, that s%*# is a death spiral and unless there is a serious talent infusion by July (ha) you're going to continue to threaten some historic records. In some ways setting the all time modern RD mark is even more embarrassing than just the losses.2 points

Schriffen can’t get over that interference call the other night. He has mentioned it at least 3 times today. He needs to look at the bright side. Yeah, it clearly cost the Sox a shot at the playoffs, but it basically locked in the #10 pick.2 points

Anyone else get the feeling when Schriffen starts quoting players, and coaches, and the rest, he makes up at least half of it?2 points

At end of season MLB should execute a Contraction of the White Sox, sell off all players on the roster, give Jerry his money, and then create a new expansion team in Chicago with new owners.2 points

Somehow this got through security last night and was shown. Although after about :30 seconds it was confiscated:2 points

Make of these as you will: “Crochet pitched his ass off, we got no-hit through [seven innings]. We had a pinch-hitter break it up. The rest of the guys–not the rest of the guys–most of the guys were fucking flat today. Unacceptable. No adjustments, we didn’t make any adjustments to this guy.”---Pedro Grifol “He’s (Grifol) going to feel that way and obviously we have a different feeling. He is entitled to his own opinion also. I think that’s a valid reason. It’s nothing to hide about that. He has his opinions and everyone is going to have their own opinions.” --- Korey Lee “We just played a stretch against some really good teams. I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to harp on the losses and beat ourselves up too much." ---Garrett Crochet1 point

I am now embracing Pedro. He is making JR and Getz look every bit as bad as they have been since Getz was ridiculously promoted to a better position after his own failures, as well as before that awful decision with Hahn and Kenny running the show for decades. Getz has made one good acquisition — Fedde. He basically lucked into Pham just as Hahn lucked into Cueto for the same reasons, no one else wanted them and they had holes at those positions so they were quite simply the next best obvious players to sign. Almost all of Getz’s other transactions/decisions have been awful. Mena for Fletcher looks especially terrible for a team like the Sox that needs young starters. Trading Matthew Thompson for Bailey Horn, only to DFA Horn later? DFA’ing Jose Rodriguez just because he’s a panicky GM and can’t manage a 40-man roster. He kept countless pieces of garbage over Rodriguez. A perfect example is that Getz chose to keep awful Dominic Leone for so long that he got stuck with him because he got injured. Why was this bum not cut over other much young players/prospects?!? Chris Getz is a terrible GM.1 point

Well said. I'm down. I'd actually drag my ass to the ballpark if this happens. Right now the only game I plan on seeing this season will be in Milwaukee next weekend. Would rather give my money to them than Jerry.1 point

I've spouted this before but bring in Ozzie for 4 months. Hire him under the condition that after the season will be a full managerial search, and that how he works in the interim will act as an audition/job interview of its own. He'll do it, and it'll be refreshing and interesting. Or they fire grifol and we slog through the rest of the season with montoyo which will be miserable as well. Things are as bleak as they've been.1 point

By the way Schiff should be embarrassed by his home run call on Mendick blast. He was all hyped and excited. I think he did the 'stand up' b.s. Look our fans are not dumb. Schiff just calm down when we're down 4-0 in the 8th and getting no hit. Manufactured enthusiasm, bah. Harry Caray and Piersall would be so hard on this team.1 point

Grifol throws young guys under the bus all of the time. Glad someone did it to him. Lee is probably mad that Grifol called out Ramos on the play that he got injured on.1 point

Not fair to harp on the losses??? You lost four in a row at home. You’re on pace to lose 120 games. What would be fair to harp on? Holy crap!!! What a moron.1 point

I guess when the game recap is "well at least they didn't get no hit" it's not a great day.1 point

In the past two days, the White Sox starters threw 12 1/3 innings and gave up two runs. Yet the Sox lost both games.1 point

In the AL, there is only 1 team farther out of first place than the White Sox are out of 4th.1 point

They have to trade him at some point. Depending on the next few seasons, he likely gets a $200m+ deal if he goes to FA and we know Jerry won’t pay that so might as well get something in return.1 point

Can't wait to trade Kopech and Fedde for a bunch of Soroka's. It's going to be badass. Between that and no top 3 pick in sight, this thing has no shot1 point

The big problem is the White Sox year by year are becoming less and less relevant in the Chicago Metropolitan area and their share of the market is becoming less and less. Places like NW Indiana and SW Michigan were once home to many White Sox fans but are now Cubs country. The Sox have never been popular in Illinois south of Chicago as that is Cubs and Cardinal country. We will in our lifetimes never see the Sox as popular as the Cubs, the only hope is new ownership along with a new stadium at the 78 property which will help with out of towners and the local casual fan who won’t travel to 35th and Shields but would make the trip to the South Loop to catch a Sox game. All my acquaintances that I’ve known in my years in Florida and have visited Chicago never took in a game at the new park but of course saw a Cubs game at Wrigley, a few old timers did visit old Comiskey in the 1950s and 60s. I’m old enough to remember when Chicago had 2 NFL teams, in fact I went to the second to last Cardinal game in 1959. I remember the NBA Packers/Zephyrs who lasted 2 years in Chicago and moved to Baltimore and are now the Washington Wizards, went to a few of their games when they played at the Amphitheater. This notion that MLB will never let the White Sox leave Chicago is a bunch of baloney, money talks, bull s%*# walks. Don’t ever forget that MLB let the Dodgers and Giants leave New York City after the 1957 season, who would have predicted that. The next couple of years on and off the field will tell a lot about the future of the Sox in Chicago, keep your fingers crossed.1 point

I am just going to say it. There are a million news stories to say that you are wrong here. Jerry Reinsdorf himself went to Springfield to lobby for money for this exact project. Unless you have actual evidence, and not just your own spin, you are 100% wrong here. If that bothers you, either show some evidence or go away.1 point

He's looked pretty good to my eye even if the ERA doesn't match up. I still think it's a fine trade even if Burger returns to form and Eder never becomes anything. Take a risk on top end talent, Burger, an oft-injured DH, wasn't leading this team anywhere. Look how well that's worked out for the Marlins, they could use some young arms. I think it would be hilarious if we traded back for him. Eloy replacement/Ramos sub. I'd be hesitant to swap Wilfred Veras for him, but that should get it done. I think the Cubs might actually be interested in him if he starts hitting the ball again.1 point
