  1. I don't hate him, but I would say the worst pairing in the world would have to be Wetherholts soft tissue and the chicago white sox.

  2. I would not draft a college 1b. It’s not just Vaughn and Torkelson. There’s also Pavin Smith, Nolan Schanual made to the majors but he’s not gonna be an impact bat. Jacob Berry looks like a bust. Remember Michael Toglia? Cuz I don’t. First rounder out of UCLA. How about Logan Davidson? May I interest you in Seth Beer? Point is, college 1b is a risky demo. If the Sox believe Cags can play a corner of, I would be better with it. Personally, I want someone who can at least start up the middle when picking 1-5. But I will admit, Sox do need impact bats.

  3. He opened with 11k in his first 17 PAs, since then he has 9 in 42 PAs, along with 7 walks.

  4. Crochet is also an insanely hard worker who crushes his between start arm/shoulder care program unlike another recent White Sox left hander. As long as he's feeling good and strong I see no reason to shut him down based on some arbitrary innings limit.

  5. Just noticed, there are 70 qualified MLB players with higher batting averages than Maldonado's OPS.

  6. Not a batting average of .290. Not an on base percentage of .290. Not a slugging percentage of .290. A slugging percentage PLUS on base percentage of .290.

  7. ? 20+ WAR over a 10+ year career would be a fantastic outcome for Thorpe

  8. Just run him out the rest of the year. If he continues sucking at the MLB level, he can become 40-man roster fat to trim in the offseason.

  9. MLB needs relegation. That way shyster teams like the white sox can't get away with fielding teams that have zero interest in competing for years.

  12. Most owners did indeed loath him especially after he testified on behalf of Curt Flood is his case against MLB trying for free agency. They also despised him for suggesting back in the 50's a revenue sharing plan, which the Yankee owners (naturally) called socialistic. One person who was listening and who asked for more details was a guy named Alvin "Pete" Rozell who used the info to go to congress and get an exemption letting the NFL form a national TV contract and equally share the TV revenue. And led by Bud Selig the owners initially turned down his bid to get the Sox in the winter of 1975 imposing harsh conditions. Somehow Veeck got it done. Tigers owner John Fetzer was overheard at the owners meeting (by a reporter who placed a glass up against the wall next door and listened in) as saying (paraphrasing) 'Look we don't like the SOB but we gave him conditions he had to meet and he met them. We have got to do the honorable thing and vote to give him the franchise.'

  14. Just hilarious. All you can do is laugh at this collection of clowns. Not a major league organization in any aspect.

  15. The Pham signing is completely negated in the losing of Pillar, who has gone nuclear in Anaheim AND plays defense.

  16. -133 Pham is not a CFer. Despite the great effort and preventing the 11th run from scoring.

  17. He really seems to be getting back to form as he gets more innings.

  18. IMO his development is more important than any of those guys. The Sox felt he was a first round talent pre injury (which it looks like he has recovered fully) and paid good money to prevent him from returning to LSU. He isn't being challenged at all in Low A and there's nothing there that will force him to make adjustments. It can be just like Schultz in AA....get him in the rotation and another starter can piggyback mid game during his starts. It's not like they are letting Taylor go 7 innings each time or anything.

  19. Somewhere in Ohio, there’s a “Gay Hitler Road”. Apparently Gaylord Hitler was a doctor and titan of his community in the 19th century. We should all be more like Gay Hitler.

  20. If you would've told me 4 years ago that something named Corey Julks would be hitting 3rd for the Sox in May 2024, I would've slapped the dogshit out of you

  30. Starting is easier on all pitchers body's. There's a very good reason why relievers are so volatile. There's no routine. It's just up and down, up and down, max effort on every pitch until you break then they bring in the next guy.

  31. I projected the first five rounds for the White Sox at FutureSox today. Here it is: https://www.futuresox.net/2024/05/28/2024-5-round-mock-draft-white-sox/

  32. James, the last two years we have taken injured pitchers who were " first round talent if not hurt " in the second. Since we have an extra pick this year, is there anyone out there that might fit that profile?

  33. Fact remains, Sox did not get much for Cease.
    1 point
  34. From what you said, yes. What two prospects did the Sox acquire for Cease in the 50-100 MLB range? Thorpe is one. A second one in that range would be a much larger return than just one, and what the Sox ultimately received.

  35. I feel like we're often on the same page with draft prospects that we covet. I did see that our guy Jakson Reetz was playing the Majors recently with the Giants. We both really wanted the Sox to get him in the 3rd RD when they took Jace Fry instead. That was 2014! 10 years ago!

  36. If it were just Vaughn I would be less scared, but seeing Torkelson on the same road makes it more scary.

  37. So Ramos was pretty decent in his first 10 games, and struggled a bit in his 5 games since returning, and we decide its time to ship him back down? Sure, watching Danny Mendick at 3B is really good for the future of the organization, 30 years old and all.

  38. Sale threw a 136 innings in 2010 across college, the minors, and the majors. His arm had previously been conditioned for a 60 inning jump. I don’t think anyone felt an innings limit was needed there. Crochet meanwhile has never experienced anything close to that level of workload and it’s all but certain his arm will start wearing out at some point. There is a reason Noah Schultz is being once a week and for four innings a start. Going 0 to 60 when it comes to arm conditioning is risky and there is zero to push to unreasonable levels when we are possibly the worst team in modern baseball history.
