We'd still be under 20 wins. This roster is absolute garbage. It is injury prone, untalented, and baseball stupid. The only thing that manager can help with is baseball stupid. Honestly, the stupidest things Ozzie did are many of the same things that Pedro does. He gives away outs and plays awful veterans at the expense of kids waaaaay too much.8 points

They’re going to lose 19 in a row and will win on 6/11 against the Mariners. After that win they will lose 7 in a row, winning again 6/21 against Detroit. They spilt that series and then get swept by the Rangers. They win the first game against the Rockies and then lose out the rest of the month. This means they close June with a 4 and 24 record. They then win one more game before the All-Star break and during the break, Pedro is fired. Getz waves the flag big time before the deadline and sells every asset possible. Robert, Crochet, Fedde, Pham, DeJong, Kopech, and more all are gone ushering in three years of hell. The irony is, that while the 2024 White Sox end the year with the worst team record and worst run differential in history, each subsequent year shows improvement after they’ve let go of their best players. By 2029 the team actually does something it never has before and spends huge in free agency. In 2030 they open their new stadium with what looks to be a World Series force… and wouldn’t ya know it… 26 players get injured. Four players have their arms fall off ( literally ), two hitters have their eyes pop out of their sockets, and at least one center fielder sprouts wings which makes it impossible for him to use his legs ever again. This is exactly how it will happen.7 points

Luckily for Aly, according to her timeline, when the Sox are approaching .500 again, there will be no need to log on to fangraphs. She will be able to simply look up any stat projected from alien overload, Xeno-5587, into the government mandated chip all humans get transplanted in our brains after the war of 3052 AD.6 points

0% better. Ozzie Guillen has not worked in Major League Baseball in more than a decade. Grifol is a bumbling idiot, be he has managed to stay employed in the game. Granted it has been by being a sycophantic lickspittle, but that's more than can be said for Guillen.5 points

We ain't takin' that. No we ain't taking that A-train. I don't care how many L's we got. I actually like Southside Staaaaaaaaaaaaand up, if it's used correctly. He had another where he imitated a slot machine. I thought that was pretty good too. But there is too much amateurish stuff going on here, and it seems to me he had no idea who or what the White Sox were or are until he was contacted for an interview.5 points

Schriffen last night... Pedro always says anything we get with thr bat from Martin is just a bonuss.. John, that's to excuse a guy hitting like 210 and playing elite defense. Not to excuse a guy hitting. 0805 points

Why feel sorry for him? He is on pace to be one of the worst managers in the history of baseball. Every other team would have fired him by now. He comes across as a total asshole.5 points

Getz was a total joke of a hire. He should absolutely be fired for this mess as well, but we know he won’t because he’s as much of a kiss ass as Pedro.4 points

Really like the patience we’ve seen from Sosa and Colas in their extremely limited at bats since being recalled. Hopefully a good sign for our player development process… if you can fucking call it that yet. ? I can’t.4 points

No, we all don't think Grifol is the biggest problem. The biggest problem is lack of talent followed by injuries.4 points

Sometimes guys stink moving up a level until they adjust or they dont. Thorpe hasn't sucked, neither has Iriarte. Korey Lee's doing decent after he sucked late in the season last year. The kid they got for Grossman hasn't sucked. Shuster has done well. Everybody bagged on Jacob Gonzalez last year but he made some changes and has looked much better this year and got promoted to AA. Sosa always took time adjusting to a new level then figured it out as he climbed the ladder. Every team in baseball has players just like this. I'm no big believer in our farm system by a long shot but that's on Reinsdorf. I'll keep repeating that till my fingers are gnarled . They won't pay for 2 DSL teams like maybe 1/3 of teams do who actually think spending internationally in the D.R. Is worth the headaches. JR doesn't want to deal in the murky waters. Or maybe he just doesn't want to acquire the expensive best young talent. So they end up picking older Cubans and signing mostly Venezuelans. Eder sucked when he got traded into our systems but he was a gamble coming off arm surgery and probably was gassed but even when he was good he didn't have many innings under his belt. Most here loved that trade except for the Burger guys like me. But I'm not writing Eder off yet. The decision to turn Crochet into a SP has worked well so far. The hiring of Bannister and that decision alone is hardly mentioned when talking about a small change that's going pretty well right now. Ultimately who knows what happens. There's only so much a lot of these executives under JR can do given his involvement in all aspects of the organization especially when it comes to scouting and player development having limited resources be it quality or just quantity hires , software, latest tech. International spending , JR slashes money everywhere. Even if Getz is not qualified if you base it on how he did as player development chief how can anyone expect success from him given everything JR does to inhibit player development ? AJ Perrynski was a team Ambassador for the Sox and JR let him go for speaking out against the Getz hire. But AJs no dummy .He knows actual qualified execs cost more money and need more freedom to do as they please and won't worked under JR. I generally reserve my ire for JR. You can say whatever you want about Getz , Grifol , player development but to me it's a waste of space when the head honcho ,while not calling all the shots, is severely limiting the ammo.4 points

Keep Crochet healthy and trade him Keep Robert healthy and trade him Keep Fedde healthy and trade him see if Sosa or Colas or Lee or Julks can contribute going forward That’s about it, this is absolute hell. They will easily lose 100 again next year.3 points

Just to be clear, the 1967 team (a good team), lost the last 5, and the 1968 team started 0-10. I look at the 13 as the team record. I will be rooting for the Red Sox tomorrow if Grifol is managing. He deserves to wear this record.3 points

Sure, I hate the Cubs and don’t want them to make the postseason. Losing two to the Sox would have made their fans even panic more. And the joke is on you for thinking JR feels shame.3 points

Fedde? A guy who was a scrap heap "20% of the time this works out" type signing? The type of signing the Sox have made for a decade, even when firmly in the contention window and need much more than just 20% odds of average production? You can't make a living signing guys that had career .3 WAR to fill out the rotation. That's doomed to fail over a large sample, as we've all seen. The occasional lightning strike doesn't make up for the half a dozen misses before and after.3 points

I remember when I used to believe that. I believe Rick used to call it "unprecedented financial flexibility" And then we crapped out around the 1A type free agents, and instead got into the C tier.3 points

The problem is the rest of baseball is catching the Sox at the right time. Of course that time is 2024.3 points

It’s no one’s job on here to be a sports broadcaster (except maybe @Lip Man 1?). That doesn’t mean people can’t assess Schriffen for his absolute suckitude at the job. The Sox aren’t in first place because they have a garbage owner. The same terrible owner who picked a “yes man” like Schriffen to be the Sox new broadcaster. Yes, we as Sox fans can hate both the team and the new broadcaster because they both fucking suck.3 points

In my mind, there are some very basic changes that should done be ASAP. The first is releasing Maldonado and going with Korey Lee as the primary catcher like you suggested. The Chuckster can be the backup option for all I care as anything is an upgrade from Martin. Next, Vaughn should be optioned to AAA and Sheets should be given the 1B job. This version of Andrew simply doesn’t work and Gavin has been useful against RHP. Make Vaughn dominate AAA before getting another shot. Finally, give Colas and Sosa everyday opportunities the rest of the way. It’s now or never time for these two and let’s give them an extensive evaluation period so we can make proper 40 man roster decisions when the time comes. IMO, Colas deserves playing time over Fletcher in RF. He’s got the louder tools and has improved his plate discipline quite a bit this year in AAA. And Sosa should easily get opportunities at 3B and 2B over Lopez & Mendick. The Sox won’t suddenly be good by making these moves, but at least they would be more watchable.3 points

On paper this team is bad, but they're not this bad. That, to me, says a lot about the leadership, or lack thereof. We've seen Grifol make bad decision after bad decision, and he has probably the worst bullpen management in the game. As far as Maldonado, there's no way he should be part of any MLB team. His defense isn't even good enough to justify a .180 BA, let alone a .080 BA. Let that sink in - the Sox are keeping a guy on the roster (and playing him regularly) that EVERY OTHER TEAM would have DFA'd a long time ago. If Getz were an even half-decent GM, he'd take Grifol's toy away and bring up Robinson or Perez or Hackenberg. Lee should be catching 5 out of 7 games. One of those guys would be a better option than Maldonado. It's fucking embarrassing.3 points

Trying to score from third on a shallow fly ball, is not just aggressive, it's just foolish. Veering too far off second base when everyone in the stands knows that a pick-off attempt is imminent is also foolish. Throwing strikes to power hitters like Wisdom or Morel in key at-bats is insane....better off walking them instead of letting them beat you. The Sox have played well enough to win in several games where they have been out-strategized and out-managed. Getz lacks the moxie to make the necessary personnel moves. Given that, JR needs to fire Grifol and his assistant managers.3 points

we still lost the game though. why? they just had the day off and those are the guys in the bullpen you go to? an actual chance to win and you don't use your high leverage relievers in high leverage situations?2 points
