  1. Said it last year, said it this year, and will say it again next year: None of this matters until JR dies. We’re stuck in baseball purgatory. No one wants to accept it, it’s a simple answer with no nuance, but it’s not a subjective opinion at this point. Until he dies, it’s just the same old song and dance. And sure maybe they get out of this free fall in a couple of years, but they’ll never be a true contender under Jerry. He has no interest in making that effort, internally they are SO FAR behind other franchises that actually invest in player development and technology…it’s all just a waste of time until new ownership arrives.

  3. Mark me down as one who doesn’t care if the Sox trade Robert. He’s currently on a 120-loss pace team. If they want to get bodies from other teams for Robert or Crochet, go for it. Chances are we’re bad until ownership changes anyway.

  4. yeah not wasting trading capital on a reliever for a .200 team...

  9. I think you're delusional 3 top 100 picks with a top 10 among the 3 ? No chance in hell and you be the 1st one to say Getz fucked up when he doesn't get that. The latest injury plus his upcoming salary has knocked his value to an all time low . I don't have a clue what they will end up getting but it sure won't be what you said.

  10. On the contrary, he should still be able to fetch a kings ransom so it makes sense to do it now. We need multiple Top 100 position players ASAP. Robert's salaries are only going to escalate from here, so get as much value as you can. They should still be able to get 3 Top 100s including one Top 10.

  11. Trade em all. Fire the coaching staff. Turn it all over.

  12. Chris Getz making marquee trades frightens me. If he though this catastrophe would be competitive, I sure as hell can’t put any faith in his talent evaluation. This team is so fucked for the foreseeable future.

  13. I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care, good, I don’t care, and apparently he hits better with a boo-boo on his finger.

  14. He hit .244 but just keep making stats up. And yes, let’s ignore the .400 OBP that came with that BA because Adam was an incredibly productive three outcome hitter who didn’t appeal to your baseball sensibilities 15 years ago.

  15. This would be the funniest thing in this terrible baseball year. And maybe getting Maldonado to the game would force MLB to change the way all stars are selected.

  16. Colson? A 129 wRC+ as a 21 in AA is doing “not well”? Where do you come up with this stuff.

  17. Maybe Getz just wants to look at some packages

  18. A few months too late. His value was never going to be higher than this past offseason when he had just had an entire healthy year. But yes, trade anyone of value.
    3 points
  19. Yup sell him before the injuries start creeping back. Such a shame too the Sox have to trade away a talent like this. They really have no choice though.

  20. I don't like it because he's probably at the lowest value of his entire career.

  21. It's not like Robert is going to be a part of the next competitive team. It would be foolish to hold onto him if there is a good deal on the table. Get it done with Seattle.

  22. Trade/Release everyone and callup the Barons.

  23. They know he’s a ticking time bomb before another serious injury

  24. I don’t know how anyone can defend Getz after witnessing this atrocity. This is the most pathetic team in Major League Baseball history and it’s not even close.

  25. I think some 40-man complication weigh on any promotion. Thorpe's not on the 40-man, Iriarte and Eder are. Shane Drohan is rehabbing, and will have to come off the 60-day IL soon. Joe Barlow has also come off the IL, and he could be replacement fodder in a bullpen purge, if one is coming. While Thorpe is manhandling AA, it can be argued that Mason Adams has done more that warrants a callup. Ky Bush is right there, too. Clevinger is also set to come off of the IL. So a bunch of guys are in front of him in the activation line. I'm guessing Getz will wait until a couple trades clear some spots to begin adding.

  27. Never said I could do a better job, simply passing along what I see on the web sites for your edification and enjoyment. And given I've been in the sports media business since 1978 and have worked on TV for 14 years and been doing radio play by play for decades...yea what goes on in the broadcasting booth is of interest to me. And speaking of which, did you read the Hawks TV news today?????????????????????

  29. But, this is the one area I'll give Getz a big old kudos, bringing in Brian Bannister seems to have paid massive dividends so far for minor league pitching.

  31. I disagree! Hahn was doing this but calling it “the offseason”

  32. Thorpe will probably spend some time in AAA before he called up.Might be this year and be next year. Charlotte is a band box but he still should be tested by the more advanced AAAA hitters who are in AAA. He's been traded twice because although he's a great prospect he doesn't have overwhelming stuff besides his changeup. Yes he should be tested but perhaps not at the MLB level. Charlotte will be a challenge.

  33. This is 100% what they should be doing. It is something that Hahn didn't do enough of.

  34. Is dumpster diving a bad thing now ? All teams do it. It's actually a good strategy for picking up youngerish players or rehab guys who may still have some upside. Its better than getting stuck paying $10-20M for multiple years to middle level Free agents whose best years always seem to be behind them.

  37. I dunno, not really a fan of embarrassing the guy on national tv in front of the world because he can’t hit and his manager thinks he should play. Funny in theory, mean spirited in action.

  42. We'd still be under 20 wins. This roster is absolute garbage. It is injury prone, untalented, and baseball stupid. The only thing that manager can help with is baseball stupid. Honestly, the stupidest things Ozzie did are many of the same things that Pedro does. He gives away outs and plays awful veterans at the expense of kids waaaaay too much.

  43. BREAKING: Manager with career winning percentage near .333 and current team on pace for worst season in baseball history is in peril of being shitcanned. Sports writers are really good at getting those scoops.
